Any of you wonder why you've been seeing MORE of Mark Walhberg at boxing events, or hearing him saying he's been training? (not saying he hasn't been around the boxing scene before, or a fan of it) Well, here it is, folks.
He's going to be starring in a movie called The Fighter, playing the role of Irish Micky Ward and rumors of actors such as Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and more to play his brother and close friend, Dicky Eklund.
From the looks of it, Walhberg is in, and his co-star to act aside him is yet to be confirmed.
Walking in the directors shoes, is Darren Aronofsky. Aronofsky has directed films such as, Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler and is supposed to be the directors of the new and re-made Robocop.
Whatcha guys think?

If I remember correctly this movie will be about Ward's life growing up and getting involved with boxing. I'm not so sure it will get into his career at all meaning no gatti.
I think it will. I think it'll show the highlights of it. I don't think it'll get into each fight, but be somewhat how the Cinderella Man showed the fights and the dude's life.
Marky mark looks fcuk all like ward..
Should be a good movie still....
I'm sure they'll have a decent budget, getting Mr. Walhberg to look like him more.
considering how well The Wrestler turned out (it was a low budget film that many didn't think would raise many eyebrows), I'm guessing it will get the funding it needs to be made.
The success of THE WRESTLER was almost ENTIRELY due to ROURKES outstanding performance.
Mark Walhberg is a very fine actor, no doubt about that, but pulling off that kind of epic performance is no easy task obviously.
Anyways, i think the movie will get its funding regardless simply because Boxing movies do well at the box office more times then not. Not because Boxing is such a popular sport, because its not, but because fighting is very easy to understand and fighters offer up very interesting character studies

Why didn't get the Tyson movie a good budget limit?
I mean the guy playing as Tyson did a superb job but there were so many flaws and so many dialog errors for example the part where the guy says bowling balls, I mean what the ****? The guy playing Tyson fixed it though.
Thanks for posting the news we all read 6 months ago. I missed those days.
I searched. Didn't see anything come up. Can you post link? I'll delete, or get rid of all of that if you do.
Yea that news has been out for a while now.
The thing is that Walhberg really wants to do the picture, and has been training intensly to get into shape for the role.
HOWEVER, the movie may or may not be made. Its DEFINETLY in some trouble right now, and its unkown if they are going to be pulling the plug on it or not.
I would love to see this movie, should be amazing.
