no i was just being stupid, as far as i know there is no columbia rumbia.. Made that up, but its a good name, so hopefully a rising star will adopt itu crazy man! Had me scratchin my head there for a sec
Depends on how you rate chins. For sure Nelson was knocked down often but not knocked out.
Do you really believe that Lamotta could fight another 35 rounds with Robinson or Chuvalo another 35 with Ali without being stopped? Nelson went 42 rounds with a prime Joe Gans in scorching midday heat at Goldfield, Nevada.
That's a testament to Nelson's toughness. He could be knocked down but not kept down.
LaMotta could be discouraged, not sure about Chuvalo though, Ali may have punched himself out on Chuvalo's chin... :lol1:
As Chuvalo used to say, after his fight with Ali he went dancing with his wife while Ali went to check his condition and spend time at a hospital. Read about what happened to his family, that proves he was not only tough inside the ring but outside of it as well.
Nelson was tough, maybe tougher than anyone else who ever fought, but I'm not sure if he had the greatest chin.
LaMotta and Chuvalo could take incredible amounts of punishment without going down.
Young had a good chin but he was also a great defensive fighter. He was rarely hit, even while long past his prime.
The 7th round against Foreman did show that he also had the ability to take a great punch.

50 rounders Bat... can you imagine a guy saying, damn i coulda got him in the 51st !
crazy bastards back then... and no internet either. or cars.... and the wheel had just been invented.
no wonder they were so dumb and tough.
Oh yeah. And the gloves was 4 oz. Made of horsehair.
I cannot believe a poll like this excludes Battling Nelson. He might have been KD'ed several times, but only KO'ed by Owen Moran when he was long past his prime. Bat could take more punishment than anybody in history and mind you that the fights back then was 50 rounders or to the finish.
I'd be hard pressed to come up with any fighter on his level.

Jimmy young went the distance with george foreman, apart from that only lost by a proper K.O (one was because of a cut) once, and that was by the hard hitting shavers

I chose Panama Al Brown... because I don't think anyone should be ashamed in the least if you have NO F*CKING IDEA who Panama Al Brown....
Actually I think the best chin belonged to Columbia Rumbia Wilson!
So, it's true. People with the last name Wilson have granite chins, no wonder why I can take a punch so well. And no wonder why when I was 12 I flipped off my bike and went head first into the street tearing my face apart and then I got up from it like a mili-second later as if I were the terminator or some shit.
Ever since that bike accident, I have had quicker reflexes. Like if I trip or something, I put my hands out now. But it's different when you're a kid and you're peddling so fast and then out of no wheres the bike flips on ya
James Toney, Wayne McCullough, and Jose Luis Castillo,
should deserve mention.

He was a 6 feet tall bantamweight.
You would think that a fighter so skinny would be easy to KO but he was never stopped in his 167 fight career.

Oh snap... thats crazy to be so tall yet still make weight, back when making weight wasn't such a big deal as it is now. I've gotta do my research on this guy.
