The best chin in boxing past and present poll

Ive read alot of great chins but from the videos i have seen i gotta go with jake just because i've actually seen alot of his fights

Depends on how you rate chins. For sure Nelson was knocked down often but not knocked out. Do you really believe that Lamotta could fight another 35 rounds with Robinson or Chuvalo another 35 with Ali without being stopped? Nelson went 42 rounds with a prime Joe Gans in scorching midday heat at Goldfield, Nevada. That's a testament to Nelson's toughness. He could be knocked down but not kept down. LaMotta could be discouraged, not sure about Chuvalo though, Ali may have punched himself out on Chuvalo's chin... :lol1: As Chuvalo used to say, after his fight with Ali he went dancing with his wife while Ali went to check his condition and spend time at a hospital. Read about what happened to his family, that proves he was not only tough inside the ring but outside of it as well.

Nelson was tough, maybe tougher than anyone else who ever fought, but I'm not sure if he had the greatest chin. LaMotta and Chuvalo could take incredible amounts of punishment without going down. Young had a good chin but he was also a great defensive fighter. He was rarely hit, even while long past his prime. Bat could take more punishment than anybody in history and mind you that the fights back then was 50 rounders or to the finish. I'd be hard pressed to come up with any fighter on his level. He was a 6 feet tall bantamweight.
