Mr. Marley also is adamant that they've tried to make other big fights, as well, including one that may surprise you.
"Recently, Chad Dawson turned down a catch weight fight on HBO for March 14 against Kessler. Kessler agreed to fight at 170, 171 or even 172 pounds but Gary Shaw rejected that even as we agreed to possibly fighting Dawson in his home state of Connecticut.
"About this time, Gary put out the statement that 'Dawson will fight anyone at 175 pounds.'"
****ing stupid ass Gary Shaw.
Yeah that needs to be straightened out. Hopefully Kessler can either pull away or get his handlers to do what he wants/needs them to do. I'm still unsure of what the beef is there though.
According to rumors Kessler's promotor Mogens Palle got in options for Kesslers next 3 fights in the Danilo Haussler contract. A lot of BS led the contract to not be signed until a day or two before the fight.
Kessler signed on the advice from his manager Bettina Palle, daughter of Mogens.
So it seems as if Mikkel got the short end of the stick.
My take? Kessler should honor his contract and then break free.
We know that Dawson has unfinished business with Tarver....
As for Kessler...... I honestly havent got a clue. Worst case is a long period of inactivity caused by his dispute with his management.

Definitely.
As long as we know talk is talk.
Let's see who they fight.

Simple fight at 175
if kessler wants the fight..man up..step up to 175 or shut up.
dawsons the champ at the higher weight class..its only 7 pounds..its not like he has to jump up a few weight classes.
Mike Marley, author of this article, works for Mikkel Kessler.
Kessler's team has already admitted turning down an offer from HBO on behalf of Dawson.
Gary Shaw stated this past month that Dawson is willing to move down to make the fight happen.
Dawson is NOT a natural cruiser, he was fighting at 160-168 just a couple years ago.
Are we clear here?
Gary Shaw works for Dawson.
Are we clear here as well?
I don't know. But why not take the fight then. If the story is correct that is...
You dufus, then why say what you just said? A minute ago Dawson got his ass whipped at 172, when I inform something as simple as he often fights around 173 your on to the next one of; "oh, I dunno then, why does he not take it then?" I don't know dude, that's what were discussing here.
He came in for Mendoza and Johnson at around 173. You really think 1lb is the difference in Dawson beating Kessler, and getting his ass kicked?

I dont see what dawsons team is doing this could show that he could contend with Calzaghe and if he'd beat kessler maybe Calzaghe will come back to look for him.
My top 5 favotite fighters
-Kelly Pavlik
-Joe Calzaghe
-Manny Pacquiao
-Ricky Hatton
-Either Vitali/Wladimir Klitchco
Don't blame Dawson for ducking Kessler, we all know Dawson would get his ass kicked if they fought at 170-172 pounds. Dawson made the right choice not to take the fight.

Kessler should fight Taylor, though I expect DiBella will try to avoid this. A bad loss to Kessler, which is the most likely outcome, would ruin Taylor as an elite fighter from a marketing standpoint.
The networks should be pushing Kessler to fight Bute, Taylor to fight Froch and the winners to fight each other. If they pushed hard, it would happen - Taylor couldn't afford to look like a chicken - and it's what the division, and boxing, needs.

The guy said NO to a catch weight bout! He is a champ at the weight he is comfortable at. Why would he drop in weight to fight "Kessler"?

It was only Palle who said Dawson was a CW once quite some time ago about a fight at LHW, not a catch. No one else AFAIK said that, it's misleading to portray it as though Kessler himself and the entire team think the same, not to mention quite an exaggeration based on one quote from one person.
How is Dawson a cruiser?
The guy fights at 175 and would go down to chase bigger fights..
---
Hes not a big guy at Lt Heavy.. Just tall
Dawson's had only 6-7 fights at LHW yet somehow Kessler's people can actually convince some that he's really a cruiser.
Excuse after excuse...
And Dawson would have went to court to battle against Tarver for not honoring their rematch clause.
and the judge would have watched their first fight and said ´Get the **** out of here Tarver, as if you deserve a rematch.´
