WE'LL MOVE ON AND FIGHT MAYWEATHER IF HATTON FIGHT DOESN'T GET DONE - "Freddie Roach"

By: Brad Cooney 8countNews sat down with Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach and got his thoughts on the negotiation troubles plaguing the proposed Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton fight. Roach still feels like this fight can be made, however, both sides should move. When asked by 8CN if the fight will go on Roach replied, “I think the fight can happen, maybe at 55/45? But 60/40 in my opinion is fair. My guy (Pacquiao) beat De La Hoya, and Mayweather Knocked out Hatton.” 8CN brought up the point that the English fans would generate large PPV buys, thus making Hatton's 50/50 share just, and Roach replied, “That's true, the English fans would generate big PPV buys, with that said, my guy (Pacquiao) still just took apart Oscar De La Hoya, and Ricky Hatton lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr by knockout. I think both sides can move on this, and get this fight done, maybe at 55/45?” 8CN brought up the question, what if? What if Hatton's camp doesn't want to move and insist on a 50/50 split, Roach responded, “Then we will move on and fight Floyd Mayweather. The thing is, where are they (Hatton) going to go? Who else brings the kind of money to Hatton than Manny Pacquiao would?”...

This is assuming that Floyd will fight Pacquiao. Floyd had two of the smartest men in the business making his decisions, Al Haymond and Leonard Ellerbe. If Pacquiao-Hatton doesn't get made, Floyd will fight Hatton in a rematch. The money will be as good or better and the risk much lower if he fights Hatton again. Haymond and Ellerbe are not going to put Floyd in with someone who has a shot at beating him.

They better not be bankin on a bigger $ fight wit PBF, thinkin it's on 4 sho if Hatton tells em to go screw. I don't believe any shit about him comin back til he says it himself. If Pac and his peeps walk away from this fight, they're dumb as ****. Very true... But i doubt Hatton would sign 60-40 if he realize that he still have the bigger cut...

Champions taking less to fight challengers has been happening for years and I don't expect it to just stop for Hatton, Felix Sturm can vouch for that. Hatton's best opponent right now is Manny Pacquiao and he should take it while it's there, i understand he doesn't want to settle but Manny is in a place where MANY want to face him and Hatton has 1st dibs to make the biggest pay day of his life, even more than what he got with Floyd, Manny though can just say f*ck it bring on Floyd or maybe 1 of the big name Welterweights and he WILL make millions while Hatton might make a few million but not nearly as much as he would make facing Pacquiao.. bottomline is that if this is about money, he would still be getting MORE even with taking a less cut, he would still be making more money facing Pacquiao than literally anyone else so the money ain't a factor, they will BOTH eat very well so I truly don't see a problem with 1 fighter making more than the other even if the fighter taking less is the champion, it's been happening for years already. a few years ago I would have probably thought 50-50 was the way but nowadays I'm just like **** it man fight, enough talking..

Pacman made Oscar change his mind on profit sharing right? I think he believes he can do the same with Hatton. Anyway, who can Hatton fight to generate the money a Pacman fight can? That works both ways. Mayweather ain't coming out of retirement, and he doesn't get more money fighting anyone else unless it's Hatton.

The way I see this, I think Mayweather sent Manny's camp feelers and wants out of Hatton fight to get himself a bigger 2009 fight. :D Unless of course Hatton agree's a 60-40 split.

Freddie Roach is stupid if he thinks Pac deserves a larger percentage than Hatton. 50-50 is fair to both fighters. Pac is p4p no1 and beat Oscar. Hatton brings 60-70% of the overall money to the table. 50-50 get it signed.
