I dont get it. The ones that bash it and claim that its a gay/unskilled/bar room brawl type of sport, seem to be the ones who are most concerned and constantly complain about it. Why constantly complain about something that you consider a "shit sport"? I posted a thread regarding its record breaking year, and how it may effect boxing (for the better), and all i got is a bunch of whiney men complaining and giving me red k. If i were postly solely about UFC, then i would expect the usual "take it to the mma forum" posts, but my thread was intended to draw opinions on the current state, and future of boxing, given UFC's achievements of last year.
I dont like golf, but im not gonna go out of my way to bash it if i dont like it. If i can give two shits about it, why waste my time bashing it? Some u men here need to stop acting like little twats, and man up. The only explanation for that type of behavior is insecurity. Im a boxing fan before im an mma/ufc fan, but truth be told, boxing has been taking a big dump on its fans over the past few years. Its getting quite hard to defend a sport that doesnt look after the fans who've made it what it is. Hopefully our sport will show more appreciation for us fans in this upcoming year.
Fine post. I have to say though, boxing has to find a way to cater to the younger fanbase. Take a 16-23yr old. What do u think he's more interested in watching. A technical boxing match, or a all out brawl where one fighter is most likely going to end up KO'd on the ground? Boxing needs to make boxing more exciting! Good exciting fights in boxing are too few and too far apart. U might get a good matchup this month, then have to wait 4 months for another one. Its frustrating.
I argue the same point about the fanbase as well. Some people have come back to me and said "boxing isn't for young people". I find that hard to believe considering I started following it when I was thirteen. However, I can imagine that with belts becoming more irrelevant and big matchups becoming few and far between at times, that it would be hard to get into initially.

It takes away from our sport, thats why.
MMA is the methadone to my heroin when boxing is not on. I like it but it ain't boxing. The only problem I have with it is how difficult it is to establish who is "the best". In boxing, because of the training and the in-ring rules, an A level fighter will beat a B level fighter 4 out of 5 times. In MMA, it's truely anybody's game. The "lucky punch" does happen in boxing, but not as often as it does in MMA. The fact that Broch Lesnar is a UFC champion is just a joke. You can train harder, have more experience, and be the all-around better man.... give up your back for a split second, and suddenly a man who has half your skill now has your title.
i think its the other way around, i never hear anyone from the sport go out of their way to bash mma like dana white does.
I dont go to MMA sites so i wouldnt know, but i see a lot of MMA fans on here talking smack.
Ive watched MMA and i think its exciting when their trading blows, but in reality their just boxing. Once they go to the floor and start dry humping for 10 minutes thats when it kills me.
You're exactly right. However, look at it this way. As boxing fans we are obviously biased and believe it is the greatest combat sport in the world. When we watch a fight it's the only thing in the world, while other people don't even know it's on. What pains me most, and other boxing fans as well, is to hear friends talk about going to watch an MMA fight. I never hear my friends say, "you watching boxing tonight". It's like there's a public thought that MMA is amazing and boxing is dead. Boxing isn't dead, it's just being promoted and analyzed the wrong way. For instance, on ESPN do you think they even know that Berto is fighting this weekend, or even know who Berto is? It's a joke, they show more Arena Football highlights then boxing.
MMA/UFC is hated by a lot of boxing fans for stealing the spotlight from the greatest sport on earth. I'm fine with MMA as a sport, is the public hype for MMA and disregard for boxing that angers me.

I laugh when i see someone post that mma artists are shitty boxers. Well maybe that's because they're not boxers! duh!. LOL.
Gina would be a great boxer I think.
Im one of those people that actually kept an open mind about MMA..
Its pretty good at times..
I watch it OCASSIONALLY..
I like watching the skilled, exciting fighters like St. Pierre..
I dont like how some of the fans think its hardcore..
I watch it for the art, and its much more applicable to street fighting..
Take downs are pretty dope..
