What are your thoughts on Pac's decision to stay at 140 and never go lower again? To me this was bigger then Floyd & Hatton. I think they honestly beleive that 140 is his best weight so what does that say? People always try to downplay his size but he's much bigger then guys give him credit for. I always say that him and Duran are the fakest little guys in history. They were always big guys who just killed themselves to go lower in weight. I also think they look at a guy like Chico who clearly stayed down too long and it end up really hurting him because he was too weight drained to be his best at the lower weights and by time he moved up he had ruined his body so much to where he wouldnt have been a threat anymore.
To me Pac has maybe the best body in the history of boxing. He's evenly built from head to toe and is built like a rock. Oscar clearly wasnt a prime Oscar but you could easily see that Pac still had very good power, strength, and speed at WW. He's definatly not a true WW or atleast not with the super huge one's we have right now but I think he is 100% a true 140 pounder. Still, thats just my opinion. What do you guys feel? Do you feel that he should just fight Hatton & Floyd and go back down to LW because thats his natural weight or what?
PS- I also think he should fight Hatton for 50/50 and I think he would in any other case but I think he's using Floyd as a pawn to tell Hatton that I can just fight Floyd for instead.
He is best at what his body can make comfortably, then you lose no punching power.
The Oscar fight was a superbly calculated risk, not sure if the hatton one is.
I doubt he will take that much power up to 140 and Hatton has a decent chin.
It won't be one way traffic either, can he take what Hatton dishes out.
Diaz got KTFO quicker by a young Green Holt so i'm not sure how you can use that to show Pacman can deal with 140 and I can't honestly say that the walking corpse with the ODLH mask on answered anything either.
I have Pacman winning a UD against hatton but it could very easily be 2 weights too far for the maestro and he gets bullied and battered, I wouldn't think any less of him if he did.
after the 1st bout with morales, i thought his frame wouldnt be able to handle any additional weight....i even had my doubts at 130 for that matter...
i thought 126 was going to be the mainstay for PAC...
The problem with figuring out what pac weight is that even at 130 he was fighting against people who fought at 126 or lower most of their careers.
But look what happenedDiaz and Oscar are his first naturally beyond 126 guys and he looked spectacular!
I want to see him fight Hatton. Hatton at 140 is strong and fast. That should give us a very exact measure of how he fares against top opposition at these higher weights.
Pacman is in danger of putting himself in a corner here imo, he's not going to be able to fight at 147, the top guy's will ruin him, he has only one real fight at 140 hatton
The 130/135 guys might easily just let him rot at 140 and not come up, if he's being anal about money with the biggest draw in boxing they aren't going to make big bucks fighting him when he starts asking for 80/20 of 300k PPV's
Well, considering we have NEVER seen him at 140 we cannot judge. Just wait.
his fight with Oscar seem like he was 140... I mean he'll probly weigh the same on fight night vs. Hatton like he did with Oscar..
i think hes a 135 fighter, i dont know why but i just do. i suppose i could see pacman taking someone on as a JWW but only at the end of his career, rather like how winky might have one final fight at SMW. that doesn't mean that hes a SMW though does it.
same thing applies here, pacman to me is not a JWW his best weight would be lightweight. i personally think that he also has an ideal physique for boxing, thick legs he puts on muscle easily and has a good reach.
but i agree with deevil79, alot of the big fighters at LW would quite easily move up and challenge him.
personally, i didnt think he would be sh1t above 130
It is hard to know, because the good fighters at 135 (Campbell and Marquez) are old and their best weight was 130 anyways.
Now if he beats Hatton at 140... that's quite interesting.
I think that people should start realize that his 1st legit weight class was 122 (cut the flyweight bullshit, he was SOOO not a flyweight that he jumped 3 divisions after failing to make the limit). I want to see more of him at 135-140.
At 147 with people like Williams and Margarito he is clearly out matched, and he might not even be able to win a belt these days. but if he can be a force at 140... we have someone who has been a force at
122
126
130
135
140
That's something special...
Im sure the top dogs would have no problem moving up 5 pounds for the opportunity to get a crack at the king. Especially since Pac isnt a BIG lww.
Good point. Guys like Diaz, Marquez, Valero, Campbell, Katsidis, and others would be fine at 140. I'll change my point a bit. Stay at 140, fight the lightweights there and clean out JWW, a pathetic division IMO.
I like 140 for Pac too, but there are bigger fights to be made at 135 IMO.

Lets see if he copes with the weight first shall we.
If he wins/is competitive he could stay but lets be homest who other than Hatton is he going to fight at 140?
