....does Floyd's defensive style match up with Manny being a southpaw. How well does he do against lefty's? Has he faced anybody with pacman's speed that's a southpaw?
Zab Judah not only hits a lot harder than Manny would at 147, but he has faster hands at 147 than Manny does.
Comparing styles, I think Manny's style, for the most part (Manny being a southpaw causes some problems), suits Floyd quite nicely. Manny does like to throw a lot of punches in bunches, would this necessarily effective on a defensive master / counter-puncher like Floyd? The more punches Manny throws, equates to the more opportunities for Mayweather.
Whenever Floyd has been forced to fight back, and counter, he has always produced his best work. Look at his fights with Hatton, Corely, N'dou, Chavez, Augustus or Carlos Hernandez.
i agree with yuo in some parts. but also manny wont self destruct like zab did once the fight is close. i know floyd is a great defensive fighter and counter puncher but manny i think will have alot more stamina than hatton did and also would be hitting floyd with better punches. watching the hatton fight there was no way hatton was going to connect with a KO punch bc he was to close to him. manny keeps the distance and lands flush hard punches. but no matter what it is going to be a great fight if it happens and i pray to god that it does. we could sit here all day and talk about what each fighter can do but we will never know unless we see. floyd could outbox manny and make him look horrible. or manny could land that punch floyd has never felt. lets hope this fight happens.
the other poster who commented im not talking about it being a fight of power. im just saying manny will come to floyd with more power punches than he has saw in a while he didnt see to much from hatton bc again hatton was to close to land anything huge and DLH couldnt find him. but i really think manny can land those harder punches than anyone could land.
i've never seen pac do infight adjustments. pac just goes out there and destroys people with his speed and power.
pac isnt really a thinking fighter. pac wont adjust.
If the Pacman just "goes out there and destroys people with his speed and power," then you just answered who would win this fight. JAT
This can go either way I believe. If the Pacman can adjust to PBF then it's just a matter of time that he will overcome the speedier Mayweather. JAT

my thing is. has floyd ever faced someone with the punch power as manny though. he just doesnt try to land one punch and thats it. he tries to hit you with multiple punches. he wouldnt be facing DLH or hatton in this one. manny has speed and power and can also take a punch or two.
pac/pbf isn't about power, its about pac's speed and pbf's timing, and we all know that timing beats speed. also pbf is no slouch in the speed field.
at first pac's southpaw angles will give pbf trouble, but once pbf figures pac out its only a matter of time.

I still totally disagree with everyone about this fight. Ive always said that there's only 2 ways to beat Floyd. 1 is to be way way way bigger & stronger then him to where it doesnt matter what Floyd does because the guy is just too big to overcome or to be a powerful Southpaw who just catches him with a 1 punch KO. I dont think a Southpaw without power can beat him at all and I dont think any right hand fighter can hit him with many clean punches in a fight while he's in his prime. His D is too good. Pac's only chance will be the 1 punch KO. I think Floyd has a awesome D and an awesome chin but a Southpaw can catch you flush even when you think youve done everything right.
The thing I disagree with everyone about is Pac's pressure bothering Floyd or how Floyd fights a really defensive style and doesnt go all out. Why cant people see that you guys are talking about a WW Floyd who is always physicaly overmatched? If he fights someone his own size then he throws way more punches and is much more Offensive aggressive. I dont think Pac's pressure will bother Floyd at all because I think Floyd will also be Offensive aggressive in this fight and will be just as active as Pac. Against Pac I could actually see Floyd walking Pac down more then the other way around. Peopel see him being super defensive against these huge guys and they act like thats how Floyd fights everyone including guys near his own size or guys who are smaller. I think he will meet Pac in the center of the ring and will try to break him down from the opening bell. This fight will either be like Floyd-Corley or Floyd-Zab. Against Corley Floyd was fighting super fast, threw a million punches, stayed aggressive all night, and walked Chop down. Against Zab he was similar but you could tell that he respected Zab's ability to catch him with the 1 big punch so he was a little more cautious but still walked him down all night.
I think he fights Pac that same way since Pac has mad power and Floyd has been off for 2 years. Everyone answer this question. How many times have you seen Pac fight going backwords? Morales made him do it some in there 1st fight and Pac sucked. I dont think he has the overall boxing skill to fight going backwards and thats what I think Floyd's gameplan will be. People need to stop acting like Floyd is some little chump who cant meet Pac in the Center of the ring or cant hang with him physicaly. Its a joke
I agree.
I honestly think Floyd will emulate the same style he used to fight Zab Judah. He will slowly stalk Pacquiao behind a high guard and a jab (similar to Winky Wright), as a way to gauge Pacquiao's style and aggressiveness. The key to this fight will not only be Mayweather's spectacular defense, but his bread and butter righthand. He destructively broke Judah (who has faster hands than Manny) down with his right hand as well as Sharmba Mitchell and Demarcus Corely (all southpaws).
Pacquiao has shown that he's no different than any other southpaw in that regard, that he has tendency to be hit with straight rights.
Mayweather have a pretty damn good jab in his arsenol that he can utilize to maintain his reach and height advantage over Manny. Floyd also has enough power and snap in his righthand to stop Pacquiao dead in his tracks and finish him if given the opportunity.
Another major attribute of Floyd that is commonly over-looked is his body punching. Floyd is no slouch. He out body punched body puncher Ricky Hatton, made Gatti keel over from a body punch, KO'd both Sharmba Mitchell and Henry Brusselles with body punches, and produced some effective body work against Corrales.
I am anxious to not only see how Pacquiao's chin holds up at 140-147, but also his body and his tolerance to body punches. I think his fight with Hatton will give a good indication.
Anyway, I envision Floyd outboxing Manny early landing the crisper, cleaner and harder punches via the righthand, throw in some effective body work by the bigger man, and you'll see Mayweather TKO Pacquiao in round 9 in a competitive, but an overall one sided fight.

**** that fight! i love floyd but i wanna see him fight a real ww for once. like a pwill or marg or berto or cotto or clottey i can go on in on **** all these fights for the publicity shit they can never surpassed the hype anyway. who cares if he outboxes pacman. let pac fight at 140 theres plenty of comp for him. Floyd should fight berto to get his belt back. i know he lented to berto but he can come back and fight him. i think that would be a good fight. or he can fight marg. marg wont get tired like oscar. i really think he should fight pwill though hes the best ww out there (**** those gay ass ratings) and that would be a great style match up. anyway **** the pacman fight for now. Floyd if you come back can you fight a ww theres alot a of ww out there who need a big fight. if ur in it just for the money go do some wwe or some shit. we need real fights in 09!
None of the lefty's PBF has faced are as good or as fast as Pac, but PBF is bigger and stronger than Pac. I could see PBF landin some quick lead rights on Pac, moreso than Pac gettin in lead str8 lefts. And Pac would get countered a lot inside.
Pacquiao's southpaw stance will make Floyds counter right much easier.. Its true, you only have to see what Marquez landed on Pacquiao to predict what Floyd will land.
Pacquiao's advantage in the fight will be his 'punches in bunches' forte.
Thats the only threat i can see him posing on Floyd.

pac is a southpaw.
pbf has never lost to a southpaw.
pbf probably will not lose to pac.
that said I expect pac to bring out the best in floyd and give him a tough fight, maybe the first war floyd has ever been in.
Hatton's pressure? Floyd made that work against him.
have you seen how many times JMM hit Pac? JMM is less accurate, slower, and not as good a puncher as Floyd.
Mayweather TKO 10/11 Pacquiao.
Don't get it twisted; I think Floyd is going to win and I wouldn't even be surprised if it ends up being a little one-sided. But the dude asked if the southpaw stance would bother Floyd. I don't think so. I think the pressure is more likely to bother him at least for a few rounds.
....does Floyd's defensive style match up with Manny being a southpaw. How well does he do against lefty's? Has he faced anybody with pacman's speed that's a southpaw?
He beat three southpaws in a row who were considered three of the four best southpaws at 140/147 when he came up from 135. The only one he didn't fight was Spinks because HBO didn't want that fight. I don't think Manny being a southpaw is going to be the biggest thing Floyd will need to worry about. Floyd need to figure out a way to stiffle Manny's relentless pressure.
Floyd is an underrated body puncher and used to get credit for having a great chin, but I'm not sure people still respect his chin. If he were to fight Manny he'd have to put those two to work as part of a game plan to slow Manny down over the second half of the fight so that he can do his thing.
Jesus Christ, you've got to be kidding me
Zab Judah is the fastest fighter in the world and Floyd handled him after breaking him down. Judah is also bigger than Floyd.
Just wondering. JESUS CHRIST
Zab Judah=The knockout dance
Floyd has been mostly about doing the least offensive work with defense being top priority. We haven't Floyd really have to work or excert a lot of energy offensively or in countering like he would against Pacquiao.
Hatton is a firecracker who does his best work inside. His strategy is to invade personal space to go to work where as Pacquiao is a firecracker who works on the outside and has only become more versatile in his recent fights. It would be harder to counter someone who sticks and moves rather than someone who just sticks and stays like Hatton.
I think Mayweather would beat Pacquiao, but I see nothing "easy" about the win. Floyd is quick, but don't really know if he's quicker than Pacquiao. Would he be able to counter CONSTANT quickness? Judah is quick, but more strategic and patient. Pacquiao is frenetically controlled with his agression now. This is a fight where Mayweather would have to increase his punch output to keep Pacquiao at bay.
It would be interesting to see how it plays out.
I think it would be a really good fight, that has a lot of interesting angles. It is a fight I want to see, for a lot of reasons but I think it could be a very exciting fight which in a fight of this magnitude can be very good for boxing as a whole.

Floyd does fine against leftys it doesnt faze him but he has never ever faced a southpaw like manny no one has his style and quickness...manny is one of kind...1

It doesnt matter how FAST or QUICK you are when it comes to fighting Floyd, what matters is how you use that quickness. Judah is quick, but more strategic and patient. I think Floyd would have more trouble with constant agressive output from an opponent than strategical, slow paced, QUICK output. Pacquiao is frenetically controlled with his agression now.
