• Sure, the economy is in rough shape, but if you give people value for their money, they'll be happy. Case in point: The Jan. 24 Antonio Margarito-Shane Mosley fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Top Rank and Golden Boy, which priced the tickets very reasonably for a fight of its caliber -- $50 to $300 -- say they have sold almost all of the lower bowl's 12,000 seats. Top Rank's Bob Arum told me the other day that there are about 1,000 tickets remaining. With that kind of success, they've opened the upper concourse with tickets priced at $25. Who says boxing is dying? Even in this economy, it is alive and well, as long as you give folks a real fight to come out to see at a price that doesn't force you to pick between tickets or the mortgage payment. Remember, it was this time last year that Madison Square Garden execs, who grossly overpaid promoter Don King for the right to host the Roy Jones-Felix Trinidad fight, had the audacity to ask $15,000 for a ringside ticket. Margarito-Mosley is a better match, and the atmosphere is going to be fantastic because tickets are priced reasonably, the fight is taking place where it belongs -- in Southern California, where both fighters are based -- and the seats will be filled with real fight fans, not high rollers, casino guests or folks who just want to be seen. Just give the people what they want in a place that makes sense at an affordable price and the seats will be filled.
from dan rafeal's blog
mosley the teacher, will show margarito a boxing class
This is a fight for all beginners to watch, how a professional boxer like Mosley will box this margarito guy and how ashame he will feel after Margarito becomes a punching bag.
i live in dublin and considered going to texas for the diaz marquez fight, flights were bloody ridiculously expensive,
as for marg shane thats good news bob arum is actually doing very well in securing good fights and trying to increase boxings popularity back to where it belongs after people like don king ****ing it up
anyone in the la area not going to this fight and they could should be ashamed of themselves :nonono:
Lol... I wish I could go to these fights in America (Vegas most favorably) but I am only 17 so can't get the chance too :( Once I'm like 20+ I should have the chance too :D
I'd go if i was within 500 miles.
Two sluggers going to war, only softies would miss it.
Unless they got shitty seats at a high price.
and jesus............
This fight along with the Diaz fights show that you make a ton of money putting fights in front of the proper market and not just where they pay high site fees.
Juan diaz sold 16,500 or 17,000 here in Houston.
i am going to Marquez vs Diaz..........
Only thing is, I dont know who to go for. I'm leaning towards Diaz. But I like JMM.

hell yeah man jmm vs diaz is as good as it gets!!!!! I would honestly choose seeing JMM vs diaz over watching marg vs shane if they were on the same night.
