All good points, Jab. Some people forget that a great fighter like Barrera lost twice to junior Jones but had a very successful hall of fame career after those losses. But as far as Cintron is concerned, I've never been impressed with him because he has never beaten any top fighters and he folded badly twice aginst Margarito.I don't know why some people are so impressed with him. Cotto is the real deal though. I like Cintron, but he doesn't strike me as the type of fighter to battle thru adversity to pull out a win.. When he's in control, he's impressive. But you're right, the two fights against Margs he folded badly. I expect him to fold against Clottey too.

No, if he loses to Margarito again, he will just be in the same position as Taylor, who's only 2 losses are to Pavlik. Their both still great fighters, styles make fights. And they've both been introduced to the style that they cant cope with. Cotto can still beat just about anybody out there...except Margarito

First off, you act like a loss to the best in the division, not pointing to you directly, (even after a valiant effort) is the end of a career. Two losses and many think the fighter is shot. Cotto will be in the very top percentile of boxing money makers till he decides to call it quits. His style determines that, not his losses. Just like it did for Vargas, Gatti, Mayorga and plenty of others. You compare him to Cintron. Kermit is still one of the best in the division with his only losses coming to the top dog at 147. A Berto match will only truelly be worth it for Cotto maybe next year, or if Berto beats a top top welterweight, ie-Cintron or Quiantana. You are talking financially, no? Im one that hopes a fighter can make as much money as he can, but am more interested in him taking on all the best. Berto, Collazo, Cintron and other are just stepping stones to clearing out the division and proving who is most worthy to fight the best in the division. It will put some coin in his pocket (obviously less than a superfight), but more importantly it establishes him as a fighter willing to take on everyone. As a fan, that is much more important to me than cashing in on the biggest deal. I also wouldn't rule out a Hatton fight should Ricky win or lose to Manny, and that is definetly a fight that would do some bank. Actually i can see Williams going down to fight Margarito... Theres more of a chance of Williams going down than Margarito moving up. Agreed. Margs is in his comfort zone. He isn't going to move till he has to.

Cintron was never in Cotto's position, Cintron held a portion of the title thats it, Cotto was arguably the 1st /2nd best fighter in the division and he has wins over former greats like Shane Mosley, Cintron has beaten nobody. Cotto's landscape looks far more promising than Cintron's did after his loss to Margarito, because Cotto has proven he can hang at that level and Cintron has proved the opposite. Cotto has also proven that if he does lose to Marg he has far more ability than Cintron so he can come again regardless. And as JAB5239 said the landscape of the division is changing all the time. Who is to say Marg can still make the weight this time next year ? or some other WW aint gonna come along and hand him an L , then they become the man to beat in the div.

Cotto is an a different level he is a 2 time world champ who has wins over Quintana a former champion Paulie Malignaggi,N'Dou,Mosley,Judah,Torres,Pinto and Maussa To compare Cotto to Cintron is moronic. What if Paul Williams comes back down and dethrones Tony, there is another option. The boxing landscape is ALWAYS changing, opportunities will arise. People will still question him though because he lost to Margarito. They'll question him for a while, but if Margarito never rematched Williams, why Cotto rematch him?
