go this from the boxing page on espn........Super middleweight Jermain Taylor, the former undisputed middleweight champ, and promoter Lou DiBella are exploring their options in the wake of Taylor's lopsided points win against ex-titleholder Jeff Lacy in a title eliminator in November. The victory secured Taylor a mandatory shot at new titleholder Carl Froch, but HBO is not interested in the bout. DiBella said he might take the fight to Showtime if HBO rejects it outright because Taylor's contract with HBO is over. DiBella also told ESPN.com that he has received a number of calls from Roy Jones, who is interested in facing Taylor. In addition, DiBella has had conversations with Margules about a possible match with former light heavyweight champ Glen Johnson.

rjj is shot.
taylor should fight glen johnson.
Jones would be an interesting fight actually. It would be good to see Roy perform well and show he's not as shot as many like to exaggerate as such.
OTOH, if Taylor beats Roy decisively (he should), and soon faces off with Kessler and beats him too (possible), he will have basically matched most of the top of Calzaghe's resume name for name.
Hopkins
Lacy
Kessler
Jones
Like I said though, ideally Taylor ignores the lure of adding RJJ to his resume and goes after Froch and eventually SMW unification with Kessler.
No one really wants to fight Johnson. Taylor should be fighting Kessler or Bute and seek for a shot with Calzaghe. BTW Why isn't HBO interested in a fight with Frock?

Johnson will be all over this, he's desperate for fights.
However, if HBO don't want Froch and Taylors HBO contract is up, then perfect timing dickheads, crack on with Showtime then.
Taylor would have to be a fool to except that fight with Jones. It is a lose, lose situation. If he wins,he beat a shot Roy and if he lost the fight there is no belt to fall back on. No one will pay to see that fight, even if it were free people wouldn't tune in. Calzaghe already beat up the man for twelve rounds and Taylor went after his first victim in Lacy so why continue after Joe's leftovers when you can face Froch or Kessler for a belt?
I doubt that fight would be on PPV... it could be though
JT might be too nice for his own good... I know he could have taken Lacy out, but in my opinion (which should never account for much) he stepped off the gas because Lacy is an old friend.
I noticed that also....my girl EVEN noticed it :lol1:.....he had Lacy a few times and let him off! you right....JT might be too nice for his own good :ugh:
True.....JT would give Roy a pass and let him finish the fight on his feet without tryin' to clown him in the process like dude from Wales did.

This actually might be a good fight for Roy Jones...I dont want to see him fight no more but I dont see Taylor going after him aggressively enough to knock him out. I got Taylor 8-4

TBH, as a Taylor fan, Johnson is one of the last guys I'd want to see him fight. Proper risk/reward is just not there. Johnson is a hard fight for anyone, and Taylor has had more than his share of fights against guys who are hard to look good against (BHOPx2, Winky, Spinks).
Taylor needs to focus on Froch. If HBO won't buy, sell it to Showtime.
Jones/Taylor would only be made by HBO as a way to invest in the winner. Both fighters have suffered recent setbacks and need a marquee win on their resumés before HBO can go on to make any more decent money off of them. I'm sure they'd rather have Taylor win (and I think he would) because he's got a lot more career ahead of him, but on the off chance that Jones won it would give HBO another chance to cash in on his name in a big, meaningless fight.
One thing's for sure, if Jones somehow wins it definitely won't be a retirement fight. It will give him false confidence that he still has it and he will continue fighting until someone sends him out of the ring on a stretcher.
I think Roy should go back to Heavyweight, the bums up there will suit his slow pace. If he really wants to offer something to the sport, he should.
uh.........no. just no!!!!

theres nothing at HW... the only point to goto heavyweight... is to win a belt... unless its against valuev ... he cant win... hes not beating either klitschko... he can beat toney and valuev and MAYBE evander if he stays away... but theres nothing really up there

Sure qwhy not a slow less powerful Jones will have alot to offer against Vitali and Wlad why not. I am so ashamed I never thought of it this way....Lefty
You make a lot of good points. HBO is still everyone's bread and butter. I guess the Jones Jr. name can be milked one last time. De La Hoya did it.
Thank you for pointing that out friend and I still think Taylor is a quality fighter with upside if he can get his bad habits to tone down some....Lefty
Jermain DOES have power, but he gets lazy in there, his footwork and head movement is no where NEAR what Joe's is... his head movement is actually almost non existent, on top of the fact that he leaves his left hang down constantly... .
Thats for damn sure!
