Put aside where you're from. Pavlik is a great champion at 160 but styles make fights and Calzaghe is way too fast for Youngstown's finest.
This is an unecessary thread... It pretty much goes without saying that Joe wins at least 8 rounds to 4 over Pavlik. It goes without saying because Joe decisions anyone from 160 to 175. Dawson is the only question mark in my mind.
interesing, jermain taylor and bernard hopkins couldnt knock him out... and if you try and make the case joe hits harder than Bernard, your bullshitting yourself...
and Roys elusive? 10 years ago roy was elusive... now he walks towards you with his hands up... doesnt seem to elusive to me..
Joe isnt knocking out Pavlik... point blank period... but he beats him 11 rounds to 1
thats correct
roy is harder to hit, more elusive and still has handspeed and some sort of defence.
fighting pavlik would be easy, too easy to hit. he would chop the tree down and eventually timber! with the left hook pavlik flat on his back for the 10 count.

People have been saying this since day 1 but with the hype surrounding Pavlik, he was seen as some sort of unbeatable force. It's a shame Zag didn't have the balls to batter Pavlik, it would've added some credibility to his resume.
"calzaghe isnt knocking pavlik out.... not by far... if he couldnt knock out a glass chinned shot roy... he isnt knocking out paclik lets be realistic... but he beats him, incredibly easily"
I can actually see Joe stopping Pavlik.
calzaghe would knock him clean out!!

It Took Calzaghe 10 years, that's right, 10 years to unify the division.
After that, there were calls for him to fight Pavlik. Calzaghe was not going to go to MW, but Pavlik was set on going SMW to meet Joe.
Joe decline, and chose to fight two old men
interesting... pavlik found the same old man joe did.. and got his ass whooped... explain
Calzaghe would have broken every record for punches landed in a fight. The problem is Pavlik freezes as he's getting hit. Joe would start throwing ten-slap combinations off Pavlik's tedious rythms from the opening bell.
That would've been an easy one for Joe, Pavlik couldn't handle speed. And Joe is a lot faster than Hopkins.
Think of the punches he would take. Ouch! Pavlik would be messed up.
"joe would most likely win, but we all know joe is a bit vunerable early, and if kelly jumped on him hard in the first round i would be interested to see how joe handled it. being knocked down by bhop or roy with not much follow up is of no comparison to being hurt by one of the best finishers in the sport. if pavlik cant get joe early he loses, but who knows if he buzzed joe in the early rds?"
See with Joe is that when he got put down he fought back some fighters would crawl into a cacoon and hope for the bell. You can see that in the last 2 fights.
How the hell do you figure that?
Joe ran to LHW? thats why Pavlik is better?
Where else was Joe supposed to run to? Middleweight?
Wake up.

Calzaghe as never fought him.
As far i as i care, Pavlik wanted Joe, Joe ran to LH, So Pavlik is better than Joe in my books.
Pavlik has already taken more risks i his career at 26 than Joe has at 36.

This fight will never happen for a variety of reasons.
1. Pavlik hasn't looked good above 160
2. Pavlik has said he's staying at 160
3. Calzaghe won't move down in weight
4. Pavlik isn't in the late stages of his career (Calzaghe's favorite)
