Jin once resonded to a previous thread on here saying that because Shane has learned his craft in the predominantly Mexican boxing hot bed which is Southern California, he knows how to fight against the Mexican "come forward" style and that will be to his advantage when he fights Antonio Margarito.
What you all think about this? Could Shane be so comfortable with the Mexican pressure style that he's got a few tricks in his bag and surprise us all come January 24th?
From Fight News:
Mosley poised for Margarito!
Sugar Shane Mosley says he won’t make the same mistakes Miguel Cotto made when he faces WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito on Saturday night in Los Angeles. “Cotto was not familiar with what Margarito brings to the table and I’m familiar with it because I’ve been brought up in California where I fought a lot of Mexican fighters and I know that type of style,” stated Mosley. “I know how to pace myself, how to win rounds. I’m basically a California fighter, I know how to go to the body, as well….I’m going to exploit him with the hand speed and the foot speed, I’m not saying I’m moving away from him and running and trying to get away from him, I’m not trying to really get away from him. Like I always do, I try to get my shots in.”

Shane said it again tonight on FNF; he said he's got the Mexican style figured out. I guess Jin was right and Miguel better give Shane a call. Granted, Tony was weight drained.
Well Mosley fights like a Mexican fighter, but at this age he just doesn't have enough bullets to keep off a younger stronger fighter off of him. He likes to fights instead of box. He will get into the same old habits and will get beaten by Maragrito.
Yeah, Shane's instinctive style is what he and his father called "Power Boxing" back in the day. It's basically throwing hard shots, smartly and with speed. But while using that style, Shane takes shots. Look at his nose. He does take a good shot, but Margarito's not really a one punch puncher anyway. He breaks you down and takes your will and a good chin will only get you so far. We'll see how much Shane's got left. The body shots will be telling, by both fighters. Shane might have a hard time getting his in though due to Tony's pressure and uppercuts.

im pretty sure mosley can go 12 and make it close but i dunno if he'll win the fight, but money marg is slow as hell.
"Slow as hell" was fast enough to make Cotto quit.
I don't think it's a matter of figuring out what Margarito does in the ring, it's figuring out how to fight effectively against that style. Shane says he knows how to do it, and he very well may, but can his body still hang at age 37? And can he do it against perhaps the best come forward pressure fighter in the game?

thats 4 out of how many mexican fighters?
And Vazquez aint even technical, so that makes 3. The only difference between De Leon and Vazquez is that Vazquez isnt as wide with punches and probably has a better resistance. Israel couldnt box if his family's life depended on it.
(Mexican style) I think this means a tough guy who don't give a shit what he gets hit with as long as he gets to hit you back. Mexican fighters usually bring an ill body attack too. Nothin to figure out wit Marg. He fights the same way all the time. It's just a question of WTF you can do about it. This is why I pick Marg to win, probably by late stoppage. SSM can outbox Marg, but he ain't scared to slug. He'll have to at some point, and as soon as he abandons his boxing game Marg will take over and the countdown to the KO will begin.

to much is made out of this mexican fighting style. It's not a mexican style. Look at JMM, izzy, rafa marquez, mijares and i can list many more. They are very technical fighters. It's all in your mentality! It has nothing to do with your race. Most black guys are scared to get hit! if you got the warrior mentality you got the warrior mentality it has nothing to do with race. Look at gatti and ward they had the warrior mentality, hollyfield and tyson had the warrior mentality and alot of mexicans due to their roots and upbringings they have a warrior mentality. It's not your race that decides how you go about things it's your heart, your will, and your mentality.

Apparently Shane was sparring great Mexican fighters in the California gyms when he was like 15 years old.
He and Oscar, before they turned pro, used to spar with Julio Cesar Chavez.
Its no mistery, with Margarito what you see is what you get, question is will he be able to handle that for 12.
Or figure out a counter style so you can be able to handle it for 12. That's what Cotto couldn't do.
Shane will ATTEMPT the Pacman technique used against DLH. Hop in throw a flurry and hop out of range. But, let's face it Tony is no DLH. It might work for a bit, but as Cotto found out there is no hiding from Tony. At some point there will be a toe to toe exchange that will begin Shane's inevitable beating.
Mosley was raised in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood and trained in LA gyms so i'm sure he's very familiar with Mexican fighters, but his biggest problem wont be figuring out Margarito's style. It will be dealing with his constant pressure, workrate and iron chin.
This is sort of a funny topic. I was just talking to my brother about this(not the first time either), the only thing, and I mean the only thing that worries me about this fight("Money" Margarito and Mosley), is Mosley doesn't lose to mexicans...
P.S. I think that will change this weekend...I hope!!!
