Did Lewis retire simply to avoid fighting Vitaly ?

Its like Lewis and the rest of his deluded fans have nothing else to go on in that fight other than "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE" But the bottom line is, cuts and injuries happen, and if the opponent is clearly winning and loses because of the cut, it is only fair to give that opponent a rematch, certainly after you manage to make a promise that you would. Agreed that Vitali was ahead on the scorecards. But you can't say Vitali's face didn't look like some grinded meat and that the stoppage was bad. That cut was nasty, it wasn't even a cut at the end, more like a hole in Vitali's face.

When you look at career Lennox had and what he achieved, he has ever right to walk away when he sees fit. It isn't like he retired without facing the best out there, he beat them all, including Vitali.

I said NO... because I don't think it was to avoid fighting Vitali.... I think it had a lot to do with how he felt in the ring with Vitali. Lewis had a LONG run as the best in the world. He is a smart man and did the right thing.... no one knows how the fight would have turned out had Vitali not been cut... regardless, Lewis knew that he was getting older and it was only a matter of time. Lewis has been ducking Vitali for over 5 years. He knows he can't beat Vitali in a rematch, so he tries to train fighters to beat Vitali. He helped Sanders, Williams and now Haye. You don't need Lewis's help to beat the Klit, just a modicum of talent is all. Ask Chris Byrd.
