Lewis has outstanding career we all know that, but lets face it this questions is always pop up, so vote on it with your personal believe.
lewis was on the tail end of his career, he retired at the right moment.
Lol so funny to see the insecure Lewis fans always resort to the old Lewis argument of "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE" and Larry Merchant asks Lewis do you give him credit? Lewis answer "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE", Lewis you realize he was beating you on all scorecards and looked the fresher of the two, Lewis answers "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE".
Its like Lewis and the rest of his deluded fans have nothing else to go on in that fight other than "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE"
But the bottom line is, cuts and injuries happen, and if the opponent is clearly winning and loses because of the cut, it is only fair to give that opponent a rematch, certainly after you manage to make a promise that you would.
Agreed that Vitali was ahead on the scorecards. But you can't say Vitali's face didn't look like some grinded meat and that the stoppage was bad. That cut was nasty, it wasn't even a cut at the end, more like a hole in Vitali's face.

Don't you mean...
Lewis had an outstanding career and we all know that, but let's face it. The questions always pop up so vote on what you personally believe.
Get it right punk! This is an English based message board.
But Lewis didn't need Vitali and he was getting old and close to retirement anyway so regardless of the outcome he still would've retired. And regardless of people's threads about his bout with Vitali, he will always be one of the greatest Heavyweights to ever.
Of course he said that to the ring post, being as he couldn't see because of Lewis's accurate and damaging punches.
To the ring post? Vitali was out punching and out landing Lewis in every round, including the 6th and final round.
vitali the fresher of the two? no he wasn't mate. pissed off this fight never when on longer so lewis could of knocked him out.
lewis had to be revived in the corner with the paddles.
Vitali said in the post fight interview "My strategy was to take it into the seventh or eighth round and my strategy was working perfectly"

When you look at career Lennox had and what he achieved, he has ever right to walk away when he sees fit.
It isn't like he retired without facing the best out there, he beat them all, including Vitali.

You should be pissed off that there was no rematch. Even if Lewis did go on to knock Vitali out it wouldn't be because he was the better of the two, it would be because Vitali's eye had blinded him to the poin that he could not see the punches.
The rematch would have settled it, and yes Vitali was the fresher of the two, in round 6 he threw something close to 60 punches I think. Vitali said in the post fight interview "My strategy was to take it into the seventh or eighth round and my strategy was working perfectly"
I said NO... because I don't think it was to avoid fighting Vitali.... I think it had a lot to do with how he felt in the ring with Vitali. Lewis had a LONG run as the best in the world. He is a smart man and did the right thing.... no one knows how the fight would have turned out had Vitali not been cut... regardless, Lewis knew that he was getting older and it was only a matter of time. Vitali just put it in front of his face!

Change the record battyman. Everytime Vitali loses he "was dominating"..
So what, the only thing that matters is the final decision.
Chris Byrd TKO Klit. lolololololololololololololololololololololololol
Golota vs Bowe......... Nuff said
You should actually watch the fight
Vitali was dominating Byrd until he suffered a freak injury

You don't need Lewis's help to beat the Klit, just a modicum of talent is all.
Ask Chris Byrd.
The same Chris Byrd who was gettin pwned by Vitali until he injured his shoulder? :Thinkingo
Lewis has been ducking Vitali for over 5 years. He knows he can't beat Vitali in a rematch, so he tries to train fighters to beat Vitali. He helped Sanders, Williams and now Haye.
