When Mike got outta jail the 1st time, would his career hav went any better?
Could Rooney have won him the Evander bouts?
Even later when the Holy scraps were done could he have turned things around?
Granted, but Holyfield was a combination puncher he would always find you when he missed , because of that, if he didn't get you with the first one he would with the 2nd/3rd one. Ive seen Tyson eat uppercuts and jabs off Holmes,Tillis,Tucker in his prime too.
I agree with what you are saying about him switching the angle when backed up, because he did that when Mathis was on top of him, but i mean i saw what happened when Mathis,McNeeley tried to back Mike up and i also saw what happened when Holy backed him up, and there were two different outcomes, because Mathis is not on the level of Holy and he does not take a punch as good as Holy either.
We will have to agree to disagree, but i take your point Tyson was very good at switching the angle when inside or backed up. I understand im talking to somebody who knows what they watching, because you are highlighting good points and making a good argument for Mike. :boxing:
I think a prime Tyson could of beaten Holyfield, but i just dont think he would of done, allthough he would have a much better chance against the younger Holy who traded far too much at times imo.
Must spread reputation around!
Good points again
I love Tyson but sometimes its hard being a fan as he has many IDIOTIC fans!
Holyfield was the definition of Warrior but i can see him missing alot against Mike back when Tyson was Tyson, its easy to forget just how elusive he was, And he threw great to the body and he threw combos like they were going out of fashion! He didnt do any of that when he Actually fought Holyfield.
I do think Evander was probably stronger tho and would try and push Tyson back, but Tyson had those fast feet and could just change the angle in a heart beat and fire away like he finally did in that fight with Mathis Jnr or like Ricky Hatton used to do.
Basically i think we just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one bud :beerchug:

Yeah its not that hes not my cup of tea, i just dont think he was unbeatable in his prime, im not saying you do either BTW its just some people actually believe he was.
I think a prime Tyson might have taken out that version of Holy. That version of Holy though never got the respect he deserved and he was insecure about his size, and with everyone saying Tyson was the real HW he got himself in trouble a couple of times when he didn't need to.
However Holy had the formula, back Tyson up. That is why he told everybody the 2nd fight would be easier than the first, because he knew Tyson is not as harder a puncher when backed up and he cant box very well when backed up.

anybodys style can and will be beaten even in there prime no exceptions, not for ali, tyson or anybody. if they fight enough they will be beaten.why do you think mayweather wants to retire now while he is undefeated.
Mike 1986-1990 beats anyone anytime any place with in 3 rounds......Lefty
I imagine that myth will last forever. He didn't even beat all the guys he fought in three rounds.

I Agree with the point were Mike didnt fight well or hit overly hard backing up.
I gotta bail just now i'll post back later
He woulda did better wit Rooney back, but he still lost 3 yrs right in the middle of his prime, and that had sumthin to do wit his collapse too. I think he coulda beat Holy wit Rooney tho. When he didn't KO him in 3 like he was supposed to he just fell apart. His offense was lackin and he had no defense at all.
No worrys Terrible i know he aint everyones cup of Tea!
Thats not the fighter i see tho, i beleive he loved a tear up and would have relished a bout like the one Holyfield would provide! And provided it he would! Evander could punch a bit (more than he gets credit for) had a top rate chin and a heart the size of, well something Big!
I saw him hurt and troubled by Bert Cooper tho and Mike is a Way better version. Bad night at the office perhaps but i just see a Tyson who had all the head movemnt and shit but more importantly the Fire in the Belly taking him out in a classic!
Im a Tyson nut i watch his fights all the time but the only one of his losses i watch for fun is his fights With Evander - the others make me sick!

Yeah
Thats why in retrospect i think Tyson was tailor made for Holyfield. I dont want to get on Tyson's case, because i know your a big fan, but he could be discouraged and frustrated even in his prime imo.
Now, when i see Holyfield, i see a guy with an unbelievable spirit and a desire that just will not be quelled, even when he is getting a shellacking, and if you add his iron chin to that, i think its a recipe for disaster when Tyson's bombs dont shift him early on in the fight ,and he then starts asking questions of Mike who is used to not having his men take his best shots and come back for more.

Nard and Evander were both blessed with iron chins too which helps
Yeah

Mike lost Cus and then Jimmy really put him over the edge shortly after that he left his team that Cus put together for him and got Team Tyson together....The snowball started then and shortly after became an avalanche....Lefty
True Dat, "Team Tyson" was Pathetic, Mike obviously wasnt training right as his fitness once stellar had dropped big, and Against Buster in the corner - WHAT!?
Guys like Tyson need a solid team who arent affraid to tell him the truth and who love em
I doubt that very much. Evander knew how to beat Mike Tyson, back him up and keep him there where he is ineffective, and his power is neutralized some what.
IMO there are two ways two ways to fight a puncher back him up and put him on his heels where he cant get the same leaverage, or use lots of lateral movement and keep him turning, dont let him get set to punch, thats exactly what Nard did to Tito.

Nah Jimmy Jacobs

Rooney was one of the guys who could hold Tyson's leash. He also understood Tyson's style, as he was the last disciple of Cus D'Mato. So yes I think Tyson would have beaten Holyfield & maybe Lewis too. If not he would have come very close at least, because he would have had the skill and discipline to do better. After he fired Rooney, Tyson never really worked as hard or as organized as he once did. There was also another guy that managed Tyson who died, they said that screwed Tyson up too.
Bill Cayton.

It wouldn't have made one bit of difference. Mike was on a downhill path and had too many people hanging on to him and giving bad advice.
