Here is what a boxing version of today's UFC card would look like:
Calzaghe vs Dawson = Griffin vs Evans
Hopkins vs Johnson = Rampage vs Silva
Vitali vs Chagaev = Mir vs Nogueira
all on the same night. That is why UFC is growing so fast.
I like the way UFC pays its fighters, huge pay days have been ruining boxing for years. The UFC pays fighters a percentage of the buyrate they draw, so if you draw you'll get paid and if you don't you won't.
Also they have incentives to finish and have exciting fights. They have bonuses for fight of the night, KO of the night, and submission of the night.
Yep....Couture actually made at least $2.5 million for the last fight with PPV figures added in
wrong. the main event fighters get paid less but thats because the UFC spreads the pay more evenly throughout the undercard fights. the main event fighters still get paid the most of course, but they don't get 95% of the total revenue share like in boxing.
Like I said.. They don't have to pay fighters as much.
What part of that don't you understand?
You're coming off as an idiot.
Also they have incentives to finish and have exciting fights. They have bonuses for fight of the night, KO of the night, and submission of the night.
This is something that boxing can, and should implement as soon as possible !
Here is what a boxing version of today's UFC card would look like:
Calzaghe vs Dawson = Griffin vs Evans
Tarver vs Johnson III = Rampage vs Silva
Valuev vs Chagaev II = Mir vs Nogueira
all on the same night. That is why UFC is growing so fast.
That's more reasonable imo. Chagev vs Vitali is just unrealistic and Hopkins vs Johnson is a pointless rematch, but Rampage vs Silva's actually has some point

You should somewhat care about what the fighters make. Money is everything to majority of athletes. If you can make a ton more in boxing it will always steer the best athletes into the sport of boxing over MMA. I'd rather see the best athletes, then a watered down product.
But what good is it, when in boxing the best athletes usually look for low risk/high reward fights.
you act like its a bad thing fighters get paid less in ufc...
Why should we care what the fighters make. That's not our job, nor should it be our concern. As long as they provide entertaining fights, i can care less if they make $100million, or $10k. What's with these boxing snobs giving boxing a pass on its lack of quality ppv's, due to the amount of money they have to pay the fighters. Its as if they are accepting these b.s cards.

No, the total payouts for UFC 91 was only $1,956,000. I believe Couture and Lesnar were the only ones to get a share of the PPV.
Brock Lesnar: $450,000 (includes $200,000 win bonus)
Randy Couture: $250,000
Gabriel Gonzaga: $110,000 (includes $55,000 win bonus)
Dustin Hazelett: $88,000 (includes $14,000 win bonus, $60,000 Submission of the Night bonus)
Kenny Florian: $80,000 (includes $40,000 win bonus)
Jeremy Stephens: $76,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus, $60,000 Knockout of the Night bonus)
Jorge Gurgel: $70,000 (includes $60,000 Fight of the Night Bonus)
Aaron Riley: $68,000 (includes $4,000 win bonus, $60,000 Fight of the Night bonus)
Demian Maia: $40,000 (includes $20,000 win bonus)
Joe Stevenson: $35,000
Nate Quarry: $25,000
Mark Bocek: $18,000 (includes $9,000 win bonus)
Matt Brown: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
Tamdan McCrory: $10,000

This is a boxing website. Why don't they ban these shit ufc threads?
Obviously the administrators of this website are a lot more open minded than people like you.
There is a Mixed Martial Arts forum on this BOXING site as well.
the reason UFC can put on these cards is because they don't have to pay fighters as much..
When you say boxers should get payed less then people get angry but then they want better cards.
You can't have both.. it's one or the other.

I honestly don't recognize any of the names on the card other then rampage and silva.
My friend invited me over the house to watch it.. I'm gonna go but for the BBQ and beer. :D
While they are watching grown men play grab ass.. I'll be watching Marvin Hagler videos on the iPhone
thats fine, but in the same token, non-boxing fans can't recognize the names Calzaghe, Vitali Klitschko, Chagaev, Glen Johnson and Chad Dawson.
Boxing will never have a card like UFC 92's because of the ridiculously high purses the main card fighters demand, as well as the greed of the promoters and other behind the scenes movers and shakers.
Thats why even these 'MegaFights' have undercards that completely suck ass.
I won't even address the pure ignorance in some of the responses in here regarding the sport of MMA.
Although I do understand that for the most part, this hatred comes from boxing elitists and purists who see their beloved sport being threatened by an up and coming sport that is everything that boxing is supposed to be.
Worry not elitists...the demographic that MMA has in a chokehold is not interested in boxing, for the most part. The two sports can and will coexist.
actually the ufc is geting better the fighters are becoming well rounded wrestlers can strike now and there is less of one guy just laying on another they move very fast when there on the mat
The UFC markets very well.
Having a unified body to force and create matchups between marquee fighters also helps their cause.
Unified promoter, you can find as many belt holder in MMA as in Boxing. It's just the media doesn't give two shits about MMA and will recognize the UFC title holders as the best in the world in their division.
The UFC does what Don King used to do only giving title shots to fighters under his promotion and if you wanted a shot you had to sign with him. After the Ali act was passed in Boxing that practice was made illegal but MMA doesn't fall into the same laws as Boxing.
Rampage is coming off a loss
Silva is 1-3 in his last four
Rashad vs Griffin should be good
Frank Mir hasn't really done shit to get a title shot
Nogueira is fun to watch but this ain't no fight for the heavyweight title, Fedor smashed Nog twice.
Card looks good on paper, I won't pay for it but will watch a few of the fights.
