Will it be excuse filled? You know, Floyd being the bigger guy and all. Because if this fight gets made, Pac is going to lose. I love Manny. But he loses this one. Thoughts?
For either guy, a victory over the other would solidify one or another as the greatest fighter of our decade, IMO.
Its really a tossup between the two at this point, and with Manny still being active, he obviously has a pretty good chance at cementing his place in history.
You know, its funny reading those comments made last year by Floyd in regards to Manny 'not being on his level'. This couldn't be further from the truth now, as many people feel like he has surpassed Floyd already, and if he hasn't he's on the cusp of doing so.
Manny has improved by leaps and bounds.
Where can you put Pacman ATG if he beats Floyd?
He is already up there. If Manny beat Floyd, then I will have to contemplate some shit. I just don't see it happening. But I have been wrong many times before.
Like yourself I want Floyd to face a WW...Margarito will only be a MUCH MUCH bigger name after he is done with SSM and possibly Cotto. I hope the public and Margarito can push for a fight with Floyd
I agree, but that's why I put welterweight kingpin. It wouldn't hurt if the person threw down with Williams too and left no doubt about who was the best.
Yeah but having been robbed against JCC, JLR and in my opinion, I believe he beat DLH...wouldn't he have been ranked higher if not for those F'd up decisions
Who knows, man. I just know that he is one of my favorite fighters that I have ever seen. A lot of people call him a "runner". I call him brilliant. You can't teach what Pea had in the ring. You can try. But you either have it, or you don't.
Yup as much as people don't want to believe that.
Manny is ranked higher p4p and has more accomplishments to this point than those guys, but in time I think a Margarito or Cotto fight would do more for his legacy. Manny's win over DLH has a lot of people's judgement clouded, let's not forget that two fights ago Manny struggled to beat (and lost in the eyes of many) JMM, who had been chasing him up in weight. Now Marquez is one of the best around, but I think Floyd can do what Juan do, and because he has more size and arguable a more durable chin he can do a lot more. I just see Pacquiao-Mayweather as something Mayweather takes, but I would still watch and think it would be good.
In the long run though, Floyd never sealed his legacy against the top welters of his era, and to this point it makes a lot of people question his resume, but only because he is such a skilled fighter, and his resume and risks only reflect that until lightweight. He has all time great skills, and only a great resume, and a fight with the welterweight kingpin could yet change that, I don't think beating manny does.
it'll be a HUGE name on floyd's resume..it'll be the only one with a 'L' next to it...
and lol @ el dominico with his JLC is a bigger win
Oooooooh.....
Mak, I got a 100k on Mayweather if the fight gets made.
With the way Pacquiao has been built up to near-mythic proportions of late, he will certainly get a fair amount of credit for it. There will however probably be an equal number reiterating their claims of Mayweather being afraid to fight true welterweights, et cetera ad nauseum. Pacquiao will of course be belittled as well in the process.
