Why are certain Floyd fans SO overprotective of him?

Im not speaking for all of his fans, but there are some diehard fanatics that DONT want to see him in the ring with fighters that pose an immenent threat to Floyd. There are even some Floyd fanatics that dont even want to see him back in the ring at all. Thier excuse?..."Floyd's accomplished everything there is to accomplish, let him be" Now my question is: If my favorite fighter is in his prime, and he retires without facing the top dogs in the sport, why would i NOT want him to prove himself? Its like watching an excellent movie, and shutting it off before the end because you feel that what you've seen so far is good enough. You will even hear these fanatics use excuses like "Marg or Cotto dont deserve to be in the ring with Floyd" Its as if they're against anything that might harm Floyd. As i stated in another post: "Floyd fans have to be the ONLY fans to make excuses for thier fighter NOT having to face challenges. Why woud u NOT want to see your fighter pushed to the limit? Im a big fan of Cotto, Pac, and JMM. Why would i NOT want to see them in the ring with the best possible opponents? I would never understand you guys" Before i get the usual remarks like: "you're just a hater", or "Floyd retired, leave him alone", let me say that i think Floyd is one of the best boxers of our era. His skills are unmatched. My question is....What good is it, if you're not putting those skills up against the best? Another thing i will never understand is how you fanatics defend everything excuse Floyd makes. Why should u as a fan care about what fight makes more financial sense? How does that benefit you? Why would u not want to see Floyd in a dogfight with someone who's gonna push him to the limit, rather than watch him take on an easy opponent like Baldomir for example? You guys act more like overprotective grandmothers rather than actual fight fans who want to see competitive matchups. Its sad!

:lame: ok i wanna see margo and cotto beating the champs above 147. lets see if cotto and margo can do what floyd has done. if u think floyd hand picked his opponents,ok let cotto and margo hand pick their opponents too at 154 160 and 168. margo and cotto started at 140 right? 140 147 154 160 168. thats 5 diff.weight class. ok i wanna see them doing floyds thing. :boxing: PBF and PAC p4p KINGS. Cotto is too short for anything above 154 jackass. And Floyd has handpicked his opponents. You can't seriously think Hatton or De La Hoya was just picked because they were the top threats.

Pac clearly said he wanted Hatton and wanted to push Mayweather out of retirement to get a fight...Floyd doesn't have a thing to say, regardless of the hate they have towards eachother...There both smart enough to know passing up that kind of money would be dumb I totally agree with u there, but u know Floyd will get chewed the fuk up, and furthermore, make it look even more evident that he intentionally ducked both Cotto and Marg when he was at 147. It doesnt take a "Floyd Hater" to point this out. Floyd is the one drawing the criticism he recieves upon himself with his actions.

If Cotto or Margarito were a big name like Pac. Were the number 1 P4Ps...and had the resume Pac had...Mayweather would jump on it But since Floyd is a pussy in your book...it won't happen :D Let me ask u this. Since Floyd used the "i cant do business with Arum, therefore i wont fight Cotto or Marg" excuse. What would u have to say if he were to work with Arum to fight Pac?

the "overprotective floyd fans" problem really seems to be mainly in a couple of your heads... i find there are far more outspoken haters on here than there are floyd stans i don't think i fit into the overprotective fan category but if i ever do it's purely because some of the over-the-top hate gets on my nerves, so it's a vicious cycle

No duh...ofcourse he would but your gonna disagree so where is this gonna go anyway. Since, your belief is "Mayweather is scared" So u have no doubt in your mind that Floyd would jump at the opportunity to face Marg or Cotto, if they were in pacs shoes?

Secondly, if Floyd were to face Pac, its not because he wants to prove anything. Pac is the hottest fighter in the world right now, and Floyd would want a peice of that pie. Basically, Floyd would only be interested because it will be a money fight against a very marketable fighter. You have to ask yourself. Would Floyd also be interested if Cotto or Marg were in Pacs shoes? Wasnt it Floyd excuse that he couldnt do business with Arum? Isnt Pac an Arum fighter??? "Down the road, this fight can be even bigger", he said to Margarito 3. Split up with Arum because Bob wasn't gonna allow him to fight Delahoya at that time. Bought out his contract and looke for a stay busy fight until Oscar bites. Originally wanted Mosley but Sugar said his tooth was huring. Went after Spinks but changed his mind and fought Baldomir.

I understand what you're saying. There's gonna be a fighter for every top dog out there that the fans are gonna say "he should've fought". My thing is, Floyd is the only one out there actually showing that he is not interested in fights that pose a big threat to his 0. That my friend are not the characteristics of a true champ! Hatton knows damn well he can get his ass whooped against Pac, yet he is still up for the challenge. He could've easily went back to fight euro bums, and still sold out stadiums and made millions, yet he is choosing to actually go out there and prove himself. Cotto knows damn well he can get starched by Marg again, yet he is still going through with the rematch without making any excuses about money, blah blah blah. These are the type of fighters and fights the fans respect and want to see. With the exception of a few Floyd fanatics here, most fans can care less about what's financially beneficial to the fighters. That's not our jobs. But the business side is the reality of the sport. And if we're gonna keep it real, we talk finances too. What do you want these fans to do, to convert to your side and agree that Mayweather is a chicken??? It aint gonna happen. And them protecting him or saying that he needs to fight the best isn't gonna make a difference in what Floyd does. And if Floyd does come out of retirment and fight the best, his fans wouldn't contribute to it..........ONLY MONEY AND WHAT MAKES SENSE FOR LEGACY.

DLH's 154 resume isn't too good. He didn't face Winky nor Vernon Forrest.All I'm sayin is, I understand he faced the best opposition in this era but he should have faced them...Cotto should have faced Paul...instead of fightin for his vacated belt. It ain't just Floyd. DLH never faced Winky or Vernon Forrest. Margarito didn't face Paul a 2nd time. Mayweather didn't face Casamayor/ Margarito and Cotto. Pac didn't face Nate. There are alot of fights that didn't happen courtesy to money...Very few fight for the love of the sport, Nothing new Hoya faced Hopkins, Tito, Vargas, Quartey. Margarito although hasnt faced him for a rematch, did at least face him, and also faced Cotto. Pac didnt face Nate, but he beat all the top Mexicans, and skipped 2 weight classes to face Oscar. A fight in which everyone wrote Pac off as dead! Those were fights where the fighters mentioned took risks and made no excuses. I have yet to hear any Pac fans claim that Pac shouldnt face fighter A because fighter B who is a less of a threat offers more money. I have yet to hear Cotto fans say shit like that either. Everyone knew Marg was going to be a big threat, yet most Cotto fans were hyped for the fight. Pac is looking for fights with Hatton and Floyd. Hatton is looking for fights with Pac and Floyd. Floyd is looking for nothing but money fights regardless of who its against, and his fanboyz will defend it.

Why should anyone want to debate this with you, when you're such a prick about it? Truth be told, it doesn't matter if he comes back and beats Margarito. Because you'll find some way to discredit it, and throw another name in the hat. What's worse, Floyd fanboys defending his "0", or you bitching and moaning about him until he loses it? The thing that I don't understand is when people say "I agree with Floyd making this decision, because it's a smart business move for him" I mean WTF. Who gives a shit, fans shouldn't worry or care about business moves that boxers make. Like with Cotto, Floyd was saying how he wanted Cotto to be a bigger name, and then he would fight him, because obviously it would be a good business move for PBF. I don't see how ANY fan of boxing would approve that, you're not gonna see a great fight, what is there to agree with. Yet people kept saying what I just quoted above. Like i said...."i will never understand these so-called fans". You would think they get a percentage of Floyd's purses.
