Kelly Pavlik vs. Bernard Hopkins.
We have a fighter who is coming off a string of very impressive fights, and garners a massive amount of momentum and following, but is ultimately untested. Now, Pac is not UNTESTED in the same sense as Pavlik, but he is in the sense that since his move to a heavier weight class he hasn't fought anyone who has managed to connect regularly, so we have NO idea how he will react to getting hit by a bigger guy.
So, much like when Bernard took that pale, non-descript, fraud bitch to school, you will see Pac get crumbled by a NATURAL LWW, who has NEVER lost at that weight, and all this hype will be deflated.
Can't ****ing wait for this fight.
This has nothing to do with nationalism, and it has nothing really to do with personal preference. I have no problems with Manny Pac as a person, in fact I think he seems pretty cool and I admire how he uses his money to help people - moreover, I love watching his fights. My opinion is in no way being vocalized to somehow belittle Manny Pac as a fighter, or draw some lines between the US and Britain, so shut the **** up.
Secondly, despite what these people who sound like they would enjoy being Pacman's personal testicle massage therapist - they have reality to face. Manny Pac, for all his gifts in speed, power, and heart - is not made of Granite. I watched the Pac-Marquez II fight today and he is OFTEN wobbled by straight right hands from Marquez, and when he puts his punches together Marquez in a few moments gets close to putting Pac on his ass.
So if a FEATHERWEIGHT can do that to Pacman, how's a STRONG light welterweight going to make him feel? Don't be a retard. He's going to get laid the **** out.
You say you've been to 3 Pacman fights? Then you weren't paying much attention then. Manny found out to his delight that hitting your opponent without getting anything back or keeping your opponent's hits to a minimal effect was a much better proposition. He's now using his advantage (speed, agility, quickness, elusiveness and unpredictability) to the hilt. He used to bang with anyone that approximates his size and built, not afraid to get hit just to get his own licks in. Those days are over, he knows his opponents are getting bigger and stronger, and he has to be elusive, but not passive (offensively) to win these kind of scraps. It also helps that the bigger they get, the slower they deliver and react, it looks like they're fighting in slow motion to Pacman, while Pacman is on warp speed. The Diaz and De La Hoya fights will attest to what I just said, they were both whiffing all night...

You're right! Pac and Pavlik, andHatton and BHop fight exactly the same!!! Great analysis! NOT!!!
LMAO!
Ok. Then. Do you have a point? Or are you going to keep recycling throw away lines that constantly appear on this site from self-assured losers who have nothing more than an agenda?
Oh wait, I know you're response because it's so original: Epic Fail.
Here's mine: You suck.
Yes I do have a point, and to reiterate:
Triangle theory can rarely be relied upon. There is a degree of logic to it, though. After all, most of us make an assessment of a fighter based on who he's beaten, but the old saying is true: style make fights.
You said:
considering that Pavlik beat Taylor twice at that weight who had beaten Hopkins at that weight, I think it might have been a factor.Taylor is not all that good.
Bernard Hopkins is light years ahead of Pavlik at any weight. He has a far better skill set and much more experience. Many people thought Hopkins deserved the decision in both Taylor fights. That's why the decisions were slightly controversial and are still being discussed today.
Personally, I had Taylor winning the rematch against Pavlik. I thought he out-boxed Pavlik and was a point or two ahead. Unfortunately, judges don't usually score a fight the same way as I do, and in this case, they scored it mainly based on Pavlik's aggression. After that fight, I remember posting that I thought Taylor should have won, and that Pavlik is flat-footed, one-dimensional, and lacking in his technique. This proved to be very true later on when he faced Hopkins, just as I had predicted and bet on.
Bottom line: Triangle theory doesn't always work. I don't see a problem with what I'm saying.
So anyway... what's my agenda? Please let me know. I'm here to talk about boxing. That's all there is to it. There is no need to make things up and call me a loser. Contrary to what you may think, I do know what I'm talking about.

Damn, Juan Manuel Marquez is pretty amazing. He didn't get too close to knocking Pac out though. Landed some nice shots. And another thing -- I heard Pac was struggling to get his weight low enough to fight Marquez, so I have a feeling he wasn't at his strongest at all. So hey, if it's OK to use the weight cutting excuses for Oscar, it's OK for Pac! Marquez is a f'king master boxer. He is slick, whereas Hatton is just raw.
Marquez >>> Hatton.
Shouldn't really be compared.

What I hope is that you learn proper English before you write another post that makes you sound like an idiot.
Spar with bigger guys? Haha, whoopty-****ing-doo. I'm hardly going to entertain the idea that sparring with some bigger guys is going to provide Pac with adequate preparation for fighting a man who is undefeated at LWW, and is the current World Champion.
I was never disputing whether or not the people on Pac's resume are legendary or not, but that doesn't change the fact that they were ****ING FEATHERWEIGHTS. So the fact that they didn't knock Pac out at their weight class is irrelavent. The issue for Pac is his ability to absorb shots at a beefed up WC. Which NONE of us have seen him do, which logic would suggest will cause problems for him after seeing how he responded to getting hit by featherweights.
Use your ****in' head.
Since your native language is english it doesnt meant your a great master english tutor right? Idi@t! At least we try to learn it unlike you bragging about it just because you live with it. St@pid!
Back to the topic. You mean if pacman sparring with welterweight as before the OLDH fight. He will not/did not taste the power of the lightwelter weight? How about ODLH who landed a few punches on Pac in their fight? You mean ODLH punch as a featherweight or least to say LWW? The last time I check the fight took place at a WW. You write/speak proper english but your reasoning suck bigtime! Use your f@cking brain if you have idi@t!!

4 greats legend mexican fighters plus the others mexs didn't able to put Pacman on his ass in their fights, so the only thing you can say is "few moments gets close to putting Pac on his ass" is just pathetic.
So you think Pacman will fight as a featherweight when he faces this light welterweight? I hope you will realize that Pacman use to spar and fight bigger guys and the added weight will only make him stronger and absorb the punches better.
On paper there was no way that Hatton could beat Tszyu. Why not bump those fight predictions up?
Hatton/Pac will be just as close as the Tszyu fight and Ricky has a damn good chance at winning.

what people dont get in their heads is that he hasnt got hit flush because his defence has gotten alot better. im not sayin pac wont get caught but im sayin his defence is aot better than it was...the head movement side stepping feints.he's just plain elusive now..another thing is that he as a damn good chin which come from his strong legs..any thoughts on my opinion??please do..
Triangle theory?
umm, yeah OK then.

Listen... considering the beating Pavlik took from Hokins, I will in NO WAY say that had Pavlik fought Hopkins at 160 the outcome would have been any different. But considering that Pavlik beat Taylor twice at that weight who had beaten Hopkins at that weight, I think it might have been a factor.

Hatton will come forward, eat hard straights, get all cut up..then koed.
You have all, not suprisingly, misunderstood the point of the thread. I was in no way comparing the fighting styles of the two fighters, but rather the thinking among spectators prior to the fight.
The general logic before Pavlik-Hopkins was that Pavlik was an unstoppable, youthful force who would make quick work of a fighter who had been unconvincing in his last few fights.
Hm...how do most people perceive Pac right about now? Maybe the new, unstoppable superstar in boxing who will make quick work of a fighter who has been unconvincing in his last few fights? (Hatton)....
Hm...
Of course I wasn't making a stylistic comparison between Pac and Pavlik you idiots. I have watched Pac's last three fights live, and I've seen Pavlik a couple times in AC. I'm well aware of their differences, and I wasn't making that kind of comparison.
Of course. That was obvious to anyone who took the 45 seconds necessary to read the thread. And of course... on this site you can't expect anyone to do that.
Yep, because Pavlik was untested at that weight. LOL.
What he failed to mention is that Hopkins would school Pavlik no matter what the weight. Does anyone seriously think Pavlik would have stood a better chance if the fight was at 160 instead of 170? If that's a "yes", you don't have a clue what you are talking about.
Hatton is much more like Pavlik than Pacquiao. It's hard to believe someone even made the comparison of Pac = Pavlik.
In this case, Pac is Hopkins. Not the other way round.
