not one mentions pac-man. i know he is fighting at all different weights at the moment but he is the best boxer at the moment, and deserves at least to be considered a real champion.
Good point. It's kind of hard to determine where to put him. He hasn't fought the "man" of the division since he fought Marquez at 130. He'll get his shot at becoming the "man" at 140 though if he beats Hatton in May.
If this was 1950 again and there was only ONE belt for each of the 6 glory divisions Id have it set up like this:
Featherweight: Juan Manuel Marquez
Lightweight: Manny Paquiao
Welterweight: Floyd MayweatherJr(until someone beats him...)
Middleweight: Paul Williams
Light Heavyweight: Joe Calzaghe
Heavyweight: Vitali Klitschko(Everyone knows hes superior to Wlad)

Dariusz "Tiger" Michalczewski unified the three of the 4 major titles by beating Virgil Hill. At that time Hill was the considered the lineal. The WBA and IBF titles were stripped or some crap. Julio Gonzalez beat Dariusz ... Zsolt beat Julio... Hence he is the lineal champ. Unfortunately, as we all know he's not doing the title any justice
Oh, OK thanks. Yes, he's a bum anyway. Edrei's not gonna fight anybody, so let's just wait 'til he retires or for him to get cocky and then be knocked out.
Light Heavyweight: Calzaghe (lineal Zolt Eldrei) (Dawson should go to germany and beat Eldrei and free the lineal belt that this bastard is holding hostage)
How, pray tell, is that bum Erdei the lineal champion? Anyway, does anybody follow the Ring Magazine on who the champs are?

in my opinion. i agree that antonio margarito is the ww champ even though williams beat him, because he beat cotto, who i had at #1 while mayweather held the championship.

agreed....
Exactly, just because he has the balls to fight in higher divisions and Margarito doesn't shouldn't mean that we call Margs the real WW champ. Floyd was fighting at 154 when we called him WW champ.
I never questioned Williams' balls in being willing to fight at higher weights, I'm just stating the facts. At this time, he's no longer in the division and no longer has a belt.
Floyd left for one fight, and then relinquished his 154 lb. belt and kept his 147 lb. title. Williams doesn't have his 147 lb. title belt anymore to come back down to.
Who said he left, he stated he will fight at 147 again
I want to see a Margarito-Williams rematch as much as anybody, but let's be real. Williams LEFT the division. Can he come back? Sure, if he says he can I'm sure he can. But he vacated his title belt and fought outside of the division in his last two bouts, even winning an interim title at a higher weight. As it stands right now, he's no longer in the welterweight division.

I think it's more absurd to call Margarito the champion of the WW division since Williams beat him.
He's champion because he beat the guy in your avatar, the man who was rightfully considered the best welterweight in the world following Mayweather's retirement.
I think it's more absurd to call Margarito the champion of the WW division since Williams beat him.
You got a point, but Williams has also left the division now, having vacated his belt and fighting at both middleweight and 154 in his last two bouts. Whether he can still make the 147 lb. limit or not, he's left the division and his title behind.
To say that Williams is the true champion of a division he's fought one fight at against a paper champion is a bit absurd.
