Roberto Duran
Considering he was a small guy. Beat SRL and had a competitive 15 round fight with Hagler. My order would be
Duran
Hagler
Hearns- SRL about equal...Thomas won the 2nd fight
great answer.. id either go with either roberto or hagler and i voted hagler so i guess thats the answer
For me it was Hagler, then either Hearns of Leonard, I can't choose, and Duran last. But as we all know, Duran being last still means he has as good chance as anyone to beat either of them, it really is hard to choose.
what i meant was his skills outweight the others' so badly (imo) that it makes up for what he may be lacking in record compared to the others
just phrased it wrong
I agree with you there shame he quit for a while would have been great to see him mix it with the resy at younger ages
Great boxer & clever very technical but have to disagree his not fought as many as the rest especially Duran

Sugar Ray Leonard
combine skills with record and Leonard comes out best

My god, even though you're trying so hard to make Mayweather sound great, you don't even realise that you're saying Duran is easily greater because Mayweather could never compete against the top 160 or 168 pounders whereas Duran could, did and won titles there.
Mayweather wasn't fighting in the pro ranks at 16 so whatever the hell that has to do with what you're trying to say just doesn't mean anything. Duran had to fight at such a young age because he was so poor and there was no proper way for him to go through the amateur ranks like Mayweather could. Duran did exactly the same thing Mayweather did but in the pro ranks the whole time basically.
The thing is though, and this is what you're missing and why you're such a .... :dunce: Mayweather started his pro career at 130 and Duran started his at 118 and while he was still learning the ropes of fighting, after little to no amateur career, beat a HOF nominee and one of the greatest FW fighters ever in Ernesto Marcel just before Marcel went on to rule the FW division and beat such guys as Alexis Arguello and retire as the FW champion of the world. Duran was the only guy to ever KO Marcel. He did this at the same age that Mayweather started his pro career after a long amateur career in which he was helped along by every possible source and coach available in the US.
At 30 when Mayweather retired, Duran had already moved up to WW and beat what many consider as one of the top 3 greatest ever WW's in history in Leonard (in his absolute prime) as well as the great HOF'er Palomino, whereas Mayweather moved up and beat 34 year old, inactive Oscar who had only fought sporadically and lost most of them anyway. Mayweather then beat Hatton (great fight and accomplishment) before he retired.
Duran, even though smaller in height and reach than Mayweather, went up to the SMW division winning titles in each division and beating the younger, stronger, bigger prime fighters while he was well past, not only his prime age, but well past his prime weight division as well.
Flawless, your argument makes Duran look better and is nonsensical to what you're trying to achieve, which is to make Mayweather look the best ever fighter, no? Go think some more ...... listen to those cogs churning. :lol1:
Mayweather is bigger than Duran and moved up to a higher weight much quicker than him as well. Mayweather fighting as an amateur has no bearing on anything, because when they were both at similar ages in the pro ranks Mayweather was bigger, went up higher earlier and didn't face anyone nearly as good as Duran faced from the earliest moment of his career to the last.
Great points Duran had huge pressure on him at a young age if he didn't beat Ernesto Marcel it may have ended his career there he knew it would be tough but he stopped him believe it was in Mexico city if Marcel beat Arguello what does that tell about Duran at 15 he was fighting 118 big guys 154 & 160 he sparred another great performance Koybashi lever how he boxed & broke the former champs heart then took out a great Ken Buchanan overturned what was a bad defeat to De Jesus & De Jesus-3 was 1 of his best boxing perofrances then he made Palamino look average a great boxer then show his strenght giving everything away to Leonard he beat him 12lbs is a lot to move up in a short time then beat the best P4P fighter in the world & the list goes the Moore perforamce + Barkley & lets not forget at 45 he was brill against Hector Camacho he was robbed of the decision but P4P Duran is the 5th ATG study him closely you'll see why Mayweather dad was TKO'D by Leonard they have the same styles Duran beat Leonard & Leonard was by far a better boxer than Floyd thats my IMO but the other 3 were great too indifferent ways but there is only 1 Manos De Peidra

Nice post. I'd give green K but I've given too much recently and it won't allow me to.

Duran
Duran is the best the complete fighter / boxer the best lightweight of ATG beat the P4P best in the world when he moved up & his achievements after that are amazing he mixed it with them all very under estimate boxer
Duran started at a larger weight when he was 16 meaning that he could go up to SMW because his body allows him. Unlike Mayweather who CAN'T go all the way up to 168 nor even 160

Nothing wrong with showboating...just as long as you know when to stop. SRL that night...didn't know when to stop
What i loved about Duran was how crafty he was fighting at mid- range he was pretty awsome at rollling with punches and setting people up with counters.
I give props to Duran though he was a great fighter his problems started, because he had over 70 fights by the time he fought Benitez and was probably on the slide and he was never really a LMW despite the win over Moore plus he did struggle with weight too.
Lets be real...at the time of watching the 2nd Duran vs SRL fight. I was a HUGE SRL fan but...what SRL did to Duran 2nd fight was over doing it. He acted like an ass...it didn't even look like a fight. I don't even consider that a victory...People jumped on Duran for quiting but I was more angry with Leonard
It looked more like
But you have to accept the fact that Leonard exposed a weakness in Duran he was easy to frustrate, because Laing and Benitez outfoxed him with movement and frustrated the hell out of him, especially Benitez.
I think Duran v Hagler would of been an unbelievable fight if they had BOTH been natural LW. One thing that defined Hagler to me was his beard and his ability to mix it up inside and Duran is in a similar mould only more skilled he was a better counter puncher and excellent at fighting from mid-range and he threw viscous uppercuts to the body.
I think i would favour Duran to beat him if they were both natural LW.
Leonard because he had the extra championship quality over all of them
Against Hearns he was being outboxed, but dug deep and found the punches that mattered when he was losing the fight.
Against Duran he found Duran's weakness which was to frustrate him and give him movement that is how Laing and Benitez beat him aswell they both frustrated him.
Against Hagler he outslicked a bigger man who was a monster of a man physically at his weight.
Against Benitez he found the punches that mattered when the pressure was on Leonard delivered and against GREAT fighters.
He stood there and banged with natural LMW Kalule and took it to a natural LWH in Lalonde. Make no mistake about it Leonard was very skilled but he hit hard and he had balls and championship quality to close the show.
Back to the subject...You could actaully say that Mayweather was bigger then Duran...Take into consideration that Duran was out of shape and his workrate wasn't the same...Plus he had love hadles in those higher weights
i think they're about the same size.
duran just didn't keep in shape like floyd did moving up.
