I read it before too. PAC and Cotto had a sparring session where a knockdown (Cottos gloves just touched the canvass...not flat on his back KD) happened. Since both are Top Rank fighters, the session was hushed to avoid damaging Miguels reputation. I will try to find the link if I can. I am not 100% sure its true, but I know I read it a few times.
Well, I also thought the Calderon-DLH sparring was a joke, until Roach confirmed it really happened. So I guess Cotto-PAC sparring has a pretty decent chance of being real as well.
Any luck finding anything about the secret sparring session???
Yeah he did get staggered by those guys, but, wait a minute, didn't he knock them both out? Rather viciously? Oh yeah, he did! Amazing!
"...dismantles..."? Give us a break down of the way you think Cotto gets dismantled by Pacquiao? A proper breakdown, because you must have given this answer some thought right, before saying that one of the top 147 pounders, and certainly one of the most talented, would be dismantled yes?
Yes Cotto is one of the top 147 lbs fighters. He's also one of the smaller 147 pounders, lets not forget that. In the world of Welter, there seems to be two categories. Big and not so big. There are some big ones out there that Pacquiao simply should not be in the ring with; Tony, Paul, Clottey, Cintron. But Miguel came up from 140, is only 5'7'' and has chin issues. Pacquiao is better than any of the guys that previously hurt Cotto, less Tony (because of size). Pacquiao has more than just a chance against Miguel Cotto. This would be FOTY if it happened in '09.
Cotto was brutally rocked by a panty wearing Corley and a one dimensional Torres at 140. Pacquiao dismantles Cotto if they ever meet. Especially now after he got beat down by the most overrated fighter (margaritoe) in the game. He will NEVER be the same again.

I never realised that Cotto was slow, and in fact I always thought he was actually pretty damn fast himself. He has good boxing skill, good movement, is powerful and attacks the head and body very well.
In all honesty I don't think Pac would stand much of a chance against Cotto. Cotto is actually one of the few WW's that I think would dominate Pac later in the fight and probably knock him out, along with Clottey, maybe Margarito.
Cotto may be fast for a Welter, not unbelievably fast, but pretty quick. However, Pacquiao would make him look slow. Pac is one of those few fighters that can carry his power and keep his speed as he moves up in weight. He's physically gifted. Look at the size of his calves. His hands are the size of a Welterweight's hands. He's made for fighting. I think he's gonna continue to surprise us; next victim, Ricky Hatton in brutal fashion.
yeah right..
DLH by KO.
post fight: DLH old. weak. slow. over trained. weight drained.
now its cotto.
COTTO by KO.
post fight. cotto has no stamina. pac made him tired. cotto was never the same after the margarito fight.
same old song.. ive heard it before..
No, that's not really how it works. Most people had Cotto beating Margarito right? Well, what were the excuses when he got TKO'd? There weren't any because he was in good fighting shape and was fit and it showed, but he just fought a bad plan.
Beforehand, people were thinking of the Oscar that fought Mayweather or Forbes showing up, the one that was 154 pounds or more. The one that threw punches. When a fighter comes in though and can hardly move or throw a strong punch, it is very easy to see. Oscar didn't put up any fight at all. He put up ten times more of a fight with Hopkins and that just goes to show you that he was shot, like it or not.
If the same thing had happened but you could see him trying, much like Diaz did against Pac, but was simply outclassed, again like Diaz, then there is no basis for saying he is shot, but that is not how the fight was at all. Did you watch any of it? Did you think Oscar was in good fighting shape? It is quite simply very obvious that he is not a fighter anymore.
Cotto by KO in the most entertaining fight of the year! :boxing: Oh Im sorry, I forgot the only correct answer is "Pac is all time best! Happy box body shot! P4P! Pac ftw!!!! Lolz haters!!!! Go Pacman!"
:nonono:
Man, pac is just too fast for Cotto! Either 140 or 147, Pac's gonna win!

Cotto beats pacman...
he's got more talent and skill...
pac's speed beats cotto however i believe body work and good boxing technique (on cotto's part) would be enough to earn him a 12 round decision...
Both boxers can box, both can fight. Cotto has to outbox and counter punch in order to beat Pacquiao, kind of like a Marquez fashion but with more force. If that doesn't happen, Pacquiao could win by technical knock out. If I had to pick, i'd say Pacquiao. It'll be a good fight if it ever happened.
I agree, Cotto has showed us all that he comes to fight. There is no question that Pac comes to fight. After Hatton, Pac should set his targets on Cotto, even if Miguel loses to Tony again. I still say the fight should happen at a catch weight under 147. It would be amazing.

The more I think about this fight, the more I lean towards Pacquiao. It should actually happen at a catch weight of about 144lbs though to make it entirely fair. I really think with Pac's speed, he can surprise and hurt Cotto.
I think this will happen in 2009 for the Pacmans farewell bout unless Cotto loses to Margarito and if JMM can't make it at 140 or Floyd unretires. And should possibly happen at 144-145 catch-weight. Mega-fights are all left for Manny so these things aren't absurd. Lets get it on.
:boxing:
considering Pacquiao at 130 roughed cotto up in sparring, Pac at 147 would knock him out. size difference is similar, Cotto is stockier, Pacquiao looks much stronger.
you've got to be kidding.
give me your sources, because i know you're full of shit.
The Colonel thinks it's the hottest fight out there
Colonel praises Pacman!
By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing
Hall Of Fame broadcaster Colonel Bob Sheridan spoke to Fightnews about Manny Pacquiao and why he thinks the Filipino superstar is the best 140 pound fighter in the world, why Ricky Hatton will give Manny a better fight than Oscar did and why a Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto clash would be a great showdown. "I feel Manny Pacquiao is the best of them all at 140 where he will test Ricky Hatton in the spring," said the Colonel. "He's too quick for Ricky, but Ricky will give him more problems than Oscar de la Hoya because Ricky is much closer to his prime and will definitely push Pacquiao more. At 147, Miguel Cotto is the class of the division. A Cotto-Pacquiao fight will be one for the ages and I hope that can be put together in 2009."
