EXCITEMENT! More than anything else right now, is what boxing needs. Exciting fighters will get boxing back on its feet. We need less Wlad Klitschkos and Peters and more Arreolas and Hayes. More Margaritos, Cottos and Clotteys and less Mayweathers. More Pacquiaos, Juan Diazes and Hattons and less Guzmans and Demetrius Hopkins.
Bring excitement back in boxing! Support fighters who would do less running and clinching and more actual boxing! Don't let this sport become as gay as male-to-male-dry-humping MMA! :D
mayweather is exciting when he fights guys his own size
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=mnCiXf9KDt0
in order to defeat bigger and stronger opponents he utilises a more defensive style to win...unforturnately thats the floyd thats has been most exposed to the public etc but if it helps him win why would you hold it against him....if you expect a fighter to go toe to toe with a man naturally a weight class or two bigger like DLH, baldomir and judah etc were to floyd you are an idiot
casa has been in some great fights man, besides that one
In those "great fights" was Casa in there with an exciting fighter (Corrales, Castillo, Katsidis , Frietas, Marquez) or was Casa the one making the fight exciting?

Pacman and Steve Forbes went toe to toe with dela Hoya, and they fought dela Hoya only a year after Mayweather fought dela Hoya. Smaller guys like Chavez and Whitaker went toe to toe with bigger guys, I don't see them bitching about it. Mayweather, Hatton and Judah are practically of the same size, Hatton is even giving some 6 inches in reach, it's not as if Mayweather was jumping from superfeather to welter in a year.
Hatton, Corrales, Castillo, dela Hoya and even Gatti are exciting fighters, they lost to Mayweather but that doesn't mean Mayweather is exciting. Pit Mayweather with another boring fighter and you have yourself a guaranteed Baldomir vs. Mayweather type of fight.
Hatton isn't the exciting fighter he once was.
A classic is going way too far with that one. Casamayor has been in great fights and stinkers just like anybody else. Ever seen Casamayor-Katsidis or Casamayor-Corrales I? You can't call a guy boring unless he's boring more than 50% of the time. I think Wlad and Spinks are about the only fighters in the world I would say are boring fighters because I've never seen either of them in an exciting fight. The only exciting fights they take part in are the ones where they're rolling all over the canvas.
Tell me, Were those fights exciting because of Casamayor or because of Katsidis and Corrales' styles?
Marquez-Gainer was the worst fight I've ever seen in my life. I suggest you check it out if it's slipped your memory. Not kidding. The worst fight of all time.
Like I said before, Marquez changed his style after his first fight with Pacquiao. And in Marquez vs. Gainer, Gainer isn't exactly a thrill-a-minute boxer either. :D
Casamayor is one of the MOST BORING fighters bar none. Marquez vs. Casamayor was a classic. :D

Mayweather is at 147/154. Let me know when Marquez gets up there. There's no way you can consider Marquez exciting if you don't consider Mayweather exciting. Look at Marquez against non-exciting fighters. It's horrible to watch.
You need to realize that Pacquiao is one of a kind. He's the only guy who is always exciting AND highly, highly skilled as a fighter. I can't think of anyone else like him, at least not in a long, long time.

Dude, Pacman went from super feather to lightweight to welter in a year, he adjusted his style but didn't lose any of that excitement. Juan Manuel Marquez became a lot more exciting in superfeather and lightweight than he was in feather. Moving-up in weight isn't an excuse to be boring.

I really don't respect the opinion of anyone who thinks what Mayweather does is boring. He adapts to any style, which is why he fights different almost every time out and the reason he's undefeated ...He can't fight 147lbers and 154lbers the way he fights Gatti. If you only fight one way, you will inevitably lose.

Wlad hasn't been knocked down since 2005.
He's never been KOed (actually counted out), unlike Lennox Lewis.
Lennox Lewis also defeated every man he ever faced and was undisputed champion
Watching Floyd Mayweather puts me to sleep.
Watching Vitali and Wlad has me on the edge of my seat and wide awake! A KO can happen at any moment... :boxing:
Fine, maybe Vitali shouldn't be on the borelist. :D

Yeah only because Wlad's chin sucks so bad that every fight the opponent has a chance
I really don't respect the opinion of anyone who thinks what Mayweather does is boring. He adapts to any style, which is why he fights different almost every time out and the reason he's undefeated unlike most of the brawlers you mentioned who are going to get beat by legitimate boxers. If you think he's boring, what do you call what he did to Corrales, Gatti and NDou? He can't fight 147lbers and 154lbers the way he fights Gatti. If you only fight one way, you will inevitably lose.
Wladimir Klitschko is boring. I think anyone can agree with that. But to call Mayweather boring is to say, "I don't like boxing, just brawling"

Pacman is nowhere near boring, even when pitted with an overmatched opponent.
Yeah, it is "boxing" not running and clinching either.
I agree on both points. I don't appreciate the clinching, or pot-shotting, 'running' style of fighting either, but it works for some people and they like it. That's all I was saying. Basically, there's no clear answer I can give like "yes, it needs more excitement". It's more complex than that. I'm quite happy with boxing except for the heavyweights, but that's OK, I can just ignore them and focus on the fights I want to see.
I give props to David Haye for trying to inject some excitement into the heavy division, though, and I will watch him fight.
For the record, I voted YES on your poll. Boxing needs excitement, of course, but there is already plenty. Still, a YES vote is better than a NO.

I agree in a way, and in another I disagree. It depends on what you like to see in a fight. Do you appreciate all-out aggression and pure thrills? Or do you appreciate the subtleties of the sport, pure boxing, defense-first-based-counter-punchers? Maybe an all-round fighter who can do it all? I choose the latter, by the way, and if he can give us a KO, that's great. Pacquiao is a perfect example of a fighter I love to watch.

I think the heavyweight division currently lacks excitement. We expect brutal knockouts (especially those of us who grew up watching Tyson and use him as the ultimate benchmark for other heavies) but I think the other divisions are just fine, there is some great talent out there and we've been given some great fights. 2008 was a fantastic year for boxing. 2009 will be good too.
Again, it depends on what you want to see. After all, it's called 'boxing', not 'knockouts'.

Boxing need to have fights on regular tv like they used to.
I agree, but I hope they show less boring fighters. Exciting up-and-comers can be featured on regular TV and entice audiences back to boxing. Seeing action packed fights from sub-elite fighters would in-turn make PPV of elite-fighters more mouth-watering. Preferring to feature exciting fighters over runners and clinchers would also start a change of style preference among boxers that would be good for the sport in the long-run. I mean, if you have hand-speed and good footwork, but use them to run around the ring instead of boxing, and the networks won't give you exposure because that, you will change that "boring" style and adapt a style that would earn you exposure and possibly a shot at PPV. BORING FIGHTERS doesn't deserve airtime.
