I can't believe some of you people !
Everyone is disrespecting Oscar now, like he didn't carry this sport that you all supposedly love so much for more the than the past decade, almost singlehandedly !
I understand the majority of you kids that post on here are 15 year old chumps who still live with mom, but really c'mon.
Have a little respect for the guy.
I'm far from his biggest fan, but some of you guys are ridiculous.
And I do understand that this is a message board, and the fact that its pretty much anonymous makes some of you cowards say things that you wouldn't normaly say in the real world, but damn.

DLH deserves to be ridiculed for making this fight in the first place and then taking pac lightly.
Dawg im witchu on this too...DLH carried the sport for many years...and like you im not his biggest fan per say but I do like the doode...however and this is no hate...I can't stand the fact that he quit in his corner...that is not acceptable...and for that he should get hated on...you don't quit on your stool...you just don't do it... :nonono:
DLH in my opinion has done more for boxing than the guy in your sig, tyson digraced this sport in my opinion. yes he could fight but he was SCUM. So stop dissing Oscar for quitting when you have a sig of a convicted rapist. DLH handles himself like a gentleman and this "warrior" mentality is bullshit Oscar was DONE it was time to call it a day just like when Futch said to Frazier "sit down son its over" in Manila.
Thats just the way that some people are , when you're on top they stick to you like leaches once you hit the bottom nobody knows you ... I'm not a DLH fan but gotta keep it real he was one of the greatest fighters in the world.Give respect where its do ,and to all you pozers man up and be real because many times you cheered him on so show you're respect.
dlh has laways gotten hate;
I understand this, but I was more questioning why people were talking about him like he was insignificant to the sport they love so much.
I thought DLH was throwing the fight, and it made me very angry to think he would throw a fight, But then i soon realised it was much worse he wanted to quit thats why he was'nt throwing back, but he just did not want to tell anyone that he wanted to quit.
when they asked him in the corner if he was okay, he was not responding because he did not want to say "yeah i quit" so the officials effectively took matters into their own hands and call it off, to DLH relief.
@Double, don't stress too much, at least its not real money !
@Makaveli..
Do people really hate it when a fighter 'quits on his stool' ?
I mean, I understand the whole warrior concept and fighting until the death, but this is unrealistic, and barbaric.
And actually, it was his corner's decision to have the fight stopped, which was done rightfully so, as it is their responsibility, above anyone elses, including the ref, to stop the fight if at any time their fighter's health is in danger.
This was clearly a case where their fighter was in danger, and had absolutely no chance of winning. So they made the right choice, IMO.
The aftermath of brutal beatings is so severe, there is no sense in risking it.
I lost my fair share of real money too.
^ I see what you're saying, but Oscar was that somebody, at least for our generation.
Thats all I'm saying.
I'm not even a huge Oscar fan, but I do respect and admire what he's done in his time in the sport.
So if not for Oscar, who knows how boxing would have faired without a 'Tyson' to carry the sport on his shoulders.
There is always somebody.
People have been saying boxing is dying for decades now. Its nothing new.
New stars always emerge.
DLH, Tyson, Leonard, Ali, Robinson, Louis, etc etc.
The sport was already in the mainstream. He didn't bring anything. He just picked up where Tyson left off.
lol, crush? are you serious? You're in a public forum.
I could care less if he was the body much less the face.
He has done no better than what Arum or King have done.
So if not for Oscar, who knows how boxing would have faired without a 'Tyson' to carry the sport on his shoulders.
What you fail to understand first of all is that the Warrior concept is not to fight to the death...it's to fight with honor and not to ever give up until you have done all you can...quitting on in your corner is not acceptable...getting Ko'd or TKo'd??? sure it happens to everyone...there isn't a pugilist alive (or dead) that was never in that position...sure the corner has the responsibility to throw in the towel when there is no more point in taking a beating...the athlete’s health comes first no matter what...but you know how that fight should have been handled and I would not have a problem with it???
Let DLH come out for the 9th...let him suck it up and try to land that left hook that we all know could have hurt Pac...and the second he got in trouble again throw in the towel...that's how the corner should have handled it...not the way they did...I know the argument is to say wut's the point?? Why wait until he is in trouble again?? The point is that you get to keep you honor and the warrior concept which is so very important especially if you are going to claim your Mexican heritage...so you lose the fight…it happens... but go out with honor and not like a coward…
I have to disagree with you here.
Health and well being > Warrior
Boxing is such a short career, why risk your health ?
Look at Ali, Freddie Roach, Sun Duk Kim (RIP)
I'm sure all of these guys had that same mentality, and look at where it got them.
Not at all saying that Pacquiao was going to beat Oscar into a coma, but its the cumulative effect that takes the toll on these fighters.
Any fighter that puts his blood sweat and tears into the gym, and then comes to fight on fight night has that honor, IMO.
You stay making dumb ass comments about everything.
Bringing the sport into the mainstream?
The sport was more mainstream before there ever was an Oscar De La Hoya.
quitter.. quitter. your a quitter.. like duran, no mas on his ****ing stool.
go cry in a corner.
I love mexico
Get off my nuts hoe !
You got a crush on me or something, I said, in our generation.
He's been the face of boxing for the past XX years, you chose to highlight the negative.
Please do me a favor and get off my dick !

How is the hate justified ?
Please explain this.
He is practically the Michael Jordan of boxing, in terms of bringing the sport into the mainstream, and casual fans to the sport, at least in our generation.

^ The disrespect is just rampant right now.
Sure, not everyone is going to like him.
But if you truly are a fan of the sport, you have to appreciate all that he's done for boxing.
Like I said, I'm far from his biggest fan, but the way some people are talking about him is just insane.
Like what?
Make PPVs out of Campas and Mayorga fights?
Call for investigations when the scores don't go his way?
Have every single advantage in his favor?

I hated him for the whole Pac thing, but Pac gave De La Bully what he had comin to him so the hate is dead. But i still lost some respect for him cuz of that shit.
