I have mad respect for Nazim Richardson and Feel he one of the top three trainers in the game and THE BEST Tactician and game planner. I also feel that if anyone is going to set up an effective game plan against Margarito, it's going to be Nazim. As Margarito fan I have a little fear in me......what do you guys think, how much of a factor will he be?

nazim will be a hero if he can convince shane to box... if shane goes toe to toe its over for him.
Having Nazim will make a big difference because you need a great plan to beat Margarito, but in order for him to execute he has to return to his form against Cotto. His performance against Mayorga would have had to been about weight and motivation if he can turn it around next time out. Its possible he over-trained since he was going to fight Judah in May.
I agree in essence with your post. Nazeem and Hopkins knew exactly how to handle Pavlik, who is a come forward non stop punching machine. Only difference between him and Tony is Pavlik has a far better jab and straight right but Tony has a far better inside game. Neither one of them do well against fighters who can turn them and jab with them.
Mosley recently made two very pertinent statements which I think will be factors in this fight: He mentioned having a thicker coat and ability to take punishment then Cotto he will need it and Margarito may find it strange when he runs into someone that is as difficult to hurt as he is. The second comment was about fighting big guys, Winky, VArgas, Mayorga, Forrest all are hard punchers and as Shane said Margarito will be one of the smaller guys he has fought in a while.
Lots of people talking about Shane may now be shot but I tell you what after the Cotto Margarito fight the guy I would be worrying about is Margarito. Although victorious his melon was beaten furiously and he looked deformed as hell after the fight. With any boxer, Shane or Margarito, age and the damage received over a career will at some point catch up. Both guys have taken many punches.
nazim is good, but he is not the best trainer in the sport by any means. bernard had much more to do with the plan, and it's execution vs pavlik than nazim!
Without Nazim I seriously doubt Hopkins performances against Trinidad, Tarver and Pavlik wouldn't be AS great. His wins wouldn't have been as dominate with out Nazim. For me he IS THE BEST trainer in the game......
1. Nazim
2. Floyd Sr.
3. Roach
but here is the thing
I think Nazim is a good solid trainer who else has he trained? I know he has Rock Allen but I am not sure he has other fighters that we can really assess whether it's him or Hopkins that makes the tandem truely great
also lets not forget he is gameplanning Hopkins and not Mosley in all those wins and we all know Hopkins is one of the smartest fighters to lace them up.
Mosley has never been labeled a smart fighter. I got to believe once things don't go to plan he will revert back to being the same fighter.
and to boot Mosley does not look as good when he does not have his father guiding him. Granted Jack really has never been a tactician in the corner but Shane looks relaxed and at ease

mayorga is the perfect guy to test if you still have the reflexes and mindset to pull the trigger. mosley just stood there with a blank look on his face for 12 rounds. its over.
He did not do that every round, but some rounds he did do absolutely nothing (which is one of the reason I throw shit at the screen whenever I watch Mosley fight because this is not the first time he has done that kind of thing). Mosley has never been a 1 punch kayo guy either or a super skilled boxer.
He did not look good at all in that fight though I was not even denying it. I also favor Margarito to win, but you do not really know how the styles would mesh together so I can not count Mosley out for sure.

You really can not teach an old dog new tricks, atleast in a couple months. If Shane can be active enough he has a shot, but I do not know if he can say active enough for the whole fight to actually win it. Mayorga is an akward guy to fight so I don't want to put to much stock in that fight, but Mosley did look bad after round 7 (I think it was round 7 were Mosley really put it on Mayorga, but then followed it with 4 rounds of nothing).
As an aside, Shane Mosley is the guy who always make the throw something at the screen and yell "**** do something Shane anything damnit". I do not think that is a good attribute to have in a fight against Margarito unless you are a very good technical boxer and Mosley has never been that. I do not think Richardson can turn him into one either in such a short time.

I'd have said Shane is an excellent technical boxer, at his peak he had everything in spades, he set up attacks off the jab, had a superb defense, footwork, flashy combination work, just like the Sugars of old!
Hes a bit past his best now.
