First Roy Jones, then Oscar De La Hoya, and next up is Shane Mosley. I have a gut feeling that Margarito will batter him into retirement after likely losing the first 6 rounds on the cards in the fight.
I just don't think Shane has looked that great as of late, and looked especially lethargic against Mayorga in his last outing. As the fight goes on, Shane's stamina will sap while Antonio begins to build speed.
So after Mosley, which ring legend goes next?
Anybody who says Hopkins gets stabbed in the eye. No, I'm serious. I'll stab you.
Maybe I'm nutts, but I actually give Mosley a good shot at pulling off an upset against Margarito. I think Mosley very will could win a decision. What people didn't realize was that Mayorga was 20 more pounds then Mosley fight night, read up about it... And Mayorga still got knocked the **** out, though I do agree that fight looked terrible and mosley did look bad in it...
Yeah man I agree, but anythings an improvement over Jack Mosley. The guy didn't even know what to tell his son, didn't even know what rounds were coming up, how far they were ever away from the end of the fight, etc. And he just doesnt seem to be able to motivate Shane when he really needs to try harder. Hopefully Nazim and his guys can bring part of old Shane back.
It's good to see Richardson finally getting the credit he deserves as a trainer. Hopkins without Naazim never makes for a good performance from Bernard, but Naazim always lights that fire under his ass. So maybe he can do the same with Shane. Anything is better than Jack.
Still, I don't see things ending well for Shane next month.
People always talk shit about Mosley running out of gas. When the **** has Shane Mosley not finished a fight, or barely finished one laboring or some shit? Mother****er is a day in day out gym rat, so miss me with the bullshit. He doesn't look good because he doesn't fight the way he used to. Doesn't focus on his combos and multiple body shots. He doesn't utilize his hand speed anymore. Just throws those little baby jabs to set up a overhand right, then throws a left hook every now and again.
Margarito is so overrated it's not even funny. There's nothing techincal about this ****er, pure chin and power. So many welters today have a superior technique to Margarito. If this were the late '90s Shane Mosley or early 00s, I'd take him easy. But to say Mosley's gonna get ko'ed, or forced to quit when that's never been the case is hard pressed.
Evander's goal is to fight until he is 100 yrs old.Or his goal might be to be beaten to death in the ring.. and the way he's going that could become a very real reality.
Mosley is working with Naazim? I really need to crawl out from under my rock a bit more often.
It's a smart move on Shane's part, I'm sur ehe looks at Hopkins and wants what he has for himself. But I just don't see how bringing in a guy, even with the skill level of Richardson, can turn back the clock on Shane.
He looked dreadful against Mayorga. And I'm a fan of Shane's.

Mosley's using Nazim Richardson next right? Got rid of his father. Anyone who doesnt expect Mosley to put up a decent fight for atleast half think again.
Oh I expect Mosley to put up a hell of a fight for the first 6 rounds, but after that I see it becoming more and more of a beating by the hands of Margarito.

Popkins is like the Gordie Howe of boxing.. I figure he is going to be able to perfrom at top level into his 50's.. the man is freak of nature..
Oh and I agree with your prediction of Margarito Mosley.. Mosley takes the early fight Marg Ko's him by round 10
The reason why Hopkins is still successful into his 40's is because he still wants it. Roy and Oscar didn't, they wanted the fame, and the notoriety, and the money, but they didn't want the actual fight. Hopkins still does, which is why he is still successful. Once it becomes apparent that the fire has died, he will teeter totter on the edge.
And I'm glad you agree with my prediction. I see Shane coming out and making Tony look foolish for the first half of the fight, HBO will act dumbfounded and talk of how Shane is embarassing him, etc....
Then around round 7 it all switches as Mosley's legs begin to fail, and Margarito clicks it into gear. By the 10th or 11th round Jack Mosley will be saving his son via the towel.
Holyfield will be next.
By the way, I agree with you on Mosley. I think Shane stilll has enough to maybe go the distance with Margo, but he's still going to lose a prety wide decision and I suspect he'll be taking quite a good beating by the later rounds.
Peace.
