Name some of the CONTROVERSIAL WINS of GREAT FIGHTERS which DID NOT diminish THEIR LEGACY......
I can THINK of Some....
TRINIDAD vs. DE LAHOYA
JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ vs. PERNELL WHITAKER
PACQUIAO vs. MARQUEZ I and II
MAYWEATHER vs. CASTILLO I
MORALES VS. BARRERA I, II, III
HOLYFIELD vs. LEWIS I
add.......
My favorite Fighter Pac's wins are according to some from "SHOT" fighters as some people would call it and somehow they would argue that if only he fought them in their Prime he would not have beaten them.So as for me I could still say these wins are CONTROVERSIAL..NOT in the OUTCOME but In the CIRCUMSTANCES leading to the fight ...but for me it will not DIMINISH his GREATNESS or LEGACY...
This is also the same with the CALZAGHE vs ROY....I like ROY and i was rooting for him before the fight. If ROY would have been...
Both fighters are GREAT , I like them both and bound to hall of FAME, but though ROY is shot when CAL fought him it will in NO way diminish CAL's legacy...
You don't really want me to embarrass you by putting up the stats from people who can actually count, do you?
Anyway, no point going over that again. One of three judges thought B-Hop, and it seems to me the general opinion is pretty much in the same proportions but, as always, it had to go one way or the other. So where is the 'controversy'? Compared with something like Lewis Holyfield 1 anyway.
yes please embarrass me with compubox stats! calzaghe landed over 200 punches! hey wait a minute when you actually watch it he didn't land shit. as for no one thinking hopkins won how come all the boxing media and loads of fans thought hopkins won? THOSE CRAZY VISUALLY DISABLED PEOPLE AT IT AGAIN! how dare they count clean punches over a bunch of missed slaps. BASTARDS
yeah you must be visually disabled if you couldn't see hopkins was the only one landing punches and calzaghe was missing everything.

dlh has had a few contraversial wins. but he isnt valid for the thread because he is not a "great" fighter.
I beg to disagree my friend...for all that is worth DELA HOYA gave us some memorable fights in our generation...FOBR all of these I consider him Great..
The thread is about CONTROVERSIAL wins, not wishful thinking on the part of the visually disabled. ;)
I suppose, though, any split decision is bound to be 'controversial' to some extent even when the judges have scored perfectly reasonably.

those are great samples....
Somehow i was thinkin of Leonard vs. Hagler and Sturm and Dela Hoya but somehow I forgot them (probably because of old age I guess...lols)
decision i mean in generality as in outcome...the Pac vs. Marquez although a draw, all of us whether for Pac or Marquez has an opinion one way or another with the Final Verdict also with Chavezvs. Sweet Pea...
Keep them comin guys...
Oh now I see i Put in the thread Title WINS....wat I mean to say FINAL VERDICT,......my bad....just saw it now..
How bout' Calzaghe over B-Hop?

Tyson's 1st win over Ruddock was disputed, but he ****ed him up on a UD in the rematch so the controversy was forgotten.
Same thing for EM's 1st fight wit Espadas. Some didn't like the call, but EM left no doubt the 2nd time, so he didn't lose any cred.
Not sure if I would say the Barrera-Morales III fight was overly disputed either. At least I didn't think it was, certainly not in the same way as the others on that list.
How bout' Calzaghe over B-Hop?
Taylor over Winky
Due to the nature of the stoppage a case could be made for Corrales over Castillo...
I'm with ya on Barrera-Morales 1 and 2, but 3 was a pretty clear victory for MAB
