When/if Maragrito beat Mosley and faces cotto who gets pay more??? or who deserve the more, I dont see Margarito sharing parity with cotto...so whats going to happen?
Cotto is still the big-draw but he lost to Margarito..Any thoughts?
I wouldn't mind the fight being in New York, I've never been there and have always wanted to go there. I was all to close to booking reservations to go to atlantic city when it was looking like it was going to be there instead of vegas. If it's in new york that gives cotto a chance to fight in front of his people which i say is far, but i just dont see arum walking away from vegas. But like i said i would LOVE to go to new york!!! Pictures of new york city make me :fest30:
You go to the first fight? I couldn't make it, but I'd definitely try to make it to the rematch if it landed in Vegas again. NYC would probably be outta my reach this year. But we got some real cheap flights to Vegas from here. Es más, now that I know the fights done, I might try to make it out for the Mosley-Margarito fight! :boxing:
New York City would be crazy though too!
It'd be common sense to have Margarito-Mosley in LA. That fight would be HUGE in that market. But it's a no-brainer también to have two west-coast fighters do their thing in Vegas where all that money is.
This is different 'cause Cotto IS an East Coast fighter (I know he's from Puerto Rico, but you know) and is a proven big-ticket seller that way. I agree with you that the fight would be bigger having it in Vegas again. But I've seen promoters take fights to places that just didn't make no sense before...so for this fight to end up back east isn't out of the question.

So they're just going to avoid vegas money and go to the east coast why? Shane is from la margarito trains in la this would have a nice turn out in los angeles and still they send it to the mandalay bay. Don't you think shane vs mosley is a better fit in los angeles? But lets see a venue in la cough up money like the mandalay bay.

No, but should I believe everything you say??? It's not the only article that says this fight's gonna be on the East Coast. It's been mentioned almost every time the rematch has been talked about come to think of it.
Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather the fight be in Vegas again, but it's not looking that way.

Cotto seems to do huge numbers on the East Coast with the big Puerto Rican community over there. Every time he fights at Madison Square Garden he seems to draw big crowds. Especially on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. Here's the article:
Margarito-Mosley in 2009!
By Gabriel F. Cordero
Looks like a great battle between WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito and challenger Shane Mosley is back in the cards for January 24th in Las Vegas. Margarito is training at present in Tijuana and is expected to be traveling soon to Los Angeles for more intensive training. Initially, Margarito didn't accept the original proposal of the division 50/50 of the $4 million offered, but HBO apparently raised the pot enough to entice "The Tijuana Tornado." After Mosley, Margarito is expected to give a rematch to Miguel Cotto in June at New York City.

very highly doubt it. They wont even put shane vs margarito in los angeles why would they put cotto and margarito on the east coast. Vegas owns boxing! Too much money on that pretty little strip.

Its kind of stupid that us fans spend so much time talking about who's making what. The fight is going to be in vegas again, which was quite evident in the first fight that margarito was the draw there. Throw in his win ko over cotto and possible win over mosley and it being in vegas again there's no reason margarito doesn't get the bigger cut. It's cotto's turn to take the smaller piece of the pie.

Who would of had the bigger cut in a Floyd/Oscar rematch? The bigger draw generally gets the bigger piece of the pie.
Due to the simple facts of how close the fight was (especially through the first 7 rounds), cotto's name (its bigger than margarito), etc.
I think a 55%-45% split in favor of margarito is most fair.
60% for margarito is too much and i dont see margarito accepting a 50-50 split nor should he have to since he beat him the first time.
55% in favor of margarito.
I dont think Cotto would mind taking 40%. All he wants is revenge.

I agree.
I think the plan right now is for the fight to be in AC, not sure though.
Yeah, I think if the fight is on the East Coast, then that'll definitely come into play as far as who claims to be the bigger draw. Margarito will have no argument to say he'll be the main draw back east, but he can still say he knocked Cotto out in the first fight.
I guess no matter how you look at it, 50/50 seems fair.
I'd say an even split sounds fair. If anyone gets the edge I would say it should be Cotto given that he is still clearly the bigger draw.
How is Cotto Clearly the bigger draw if both have not fought since July 26th?
The split should be 60/40 in favor of Margarito. Not that it really matters.
I think 50/50 would be about right. Unless Margarito blows through Mosley and Cotto struggles against whoever his comeback opponent will be...then I can see a 60/40 split in favor of Marg.
I agree.

This reminds me, is this fight gonna be at Madison Square Garden? 'Cause if it is, then Cotto is definitely the bigger draw! If it's in Vegas again, Margarito can make a claim that he'll bring more fans to the arena.
