No it wasn't
Danny Williams stopping Tyson was. Real talk.
Lol. One thing I love about you Brits is the Danny Williams jokes, classic!
By the way, Ricky is one of my favorite fighters. I laughed my ass off when he came in the ring on Saturday with the fatman suit.
I don't care about the year, it was still the most meaningful fight of the bunch in the last few years.
Still, this thread is about this years' fights.

You said it yourself, it was in 2007. This thread is about USA vs UK fights in 2008, December or not, it was 2007.

What about Floyd destroying Ricky Hatton, did everyone forget that? True it was in 2007, but in December so I'll round up. That was probably the most significant USA vs. UK matchup we've had in the last few years. Two fighters in their prime fighting on boxing's biggest stage. What happened to UK there? Outclassed, outgunned, outsmarted.
Well it happened last year, you can't round it up. lol
And what's to argue, Mayweather beasted him.

What's the problem? No reply to this one?

There are a ton of them in college. Once you play till 22, it is unlikely that you will turn to boxing at that advanced age. I do agree that the economic and historical issues you raised are also a big part of things.
I pointed to it after that.
But how many 5'6 guys are actually in the NFL or the NBA?
The odds are heavily against it.

Football is absolutely killing US boxing. Even guys that are 5-6 and athletic can play it.

I do think most play from a young age and since they love it and spend so much time playing it, they go on in hopes of either growing or being that "one" that is the freak of nature and is able to make it.
Many also see opportunity in these sports to at least play in college and receive scholarships. That's a big one.
The rest of the World has an argument that their boxers are being taken away by Football {World}. Although, like most of the athletes in the NBA, I don't consider the World-Football people to be that tough compared to other sports, like Rugby. It's why they are playing Football and not Rugby. Or maybe they just loved one sport more than the other...although not getting hit helps for many.
It's hard to say.
So much has changed after World War II. There is more opportunity out there to make a decent living so you don't have to go and fight.
It's a disinterest in it because they don't have to do it anymore or they just don't have "it."
Prior to World War II, there was a large group of Jewish fighters/Champions. First Generation Men who grew up in hard times, socially and economically, who fought because they had to; but of course, they had to have it in them to want to fight since the majority weren't boxing. They had the Will to do so because of the limited choices...which does make it a bit easier.
After World War II, greater opportunity came and people didn't bother going into boxing...and the majority of the Gyms closed down.
You're right. I had to BoxRec that one. Johnson is from Cali.
Judah ducked the Brit bum that was lined up for him. Theopane something.
Judah fears Brits
Exactly. He was Judahs last opponent and he was a Yank anyway.

LOL at the Brits gloating about possibly being even with the Americans for one year. USA has been kicking your ass since the 1870s in boxing.
We dont live in the 1870s.
I would think you should always be kicking our arses since we're a tiny island who never really cared that much about boxing.
Point is, you're not anymore. If you look at it as a whole, British fighters are outperforming their American counterparts.
