How does someone from a fake sport win the heavyweight title from a sport that is supposed to be "the most difficult and most real fighting sport" according to it's fans? I'd like to see Ray Misterio Jr. try and beat Miguel Cotto or Floyd Mayweather.. boy he'd be in for an ass whoopin'. The fact that this was even a PPV was a joke and the outcome of the fight makes it an even bigger one.
And they say boxers couldn't last in UFC ... well, a fake athlete just did!
I just cant believe a WWE Wrestler with only 2 fights in the sport won the HW Champioship. I mean I bet he cant even beat a top 20 HW in boxing!!!!!
And any top 100 HW boxer couldn't beat Lesnar in a freestyle wrestling match. What's your point??
I literally laughed so hard ma chair tipped over.
:D I literally laughed and almost fell over when I saw this thread still alive on the front page today.
Walk into any respectable MMA gym, and bring your local bar tough guy and I guarantee you you're toothless pal gets his ass handed to him.
Its funny to see you idiots down talk a sport you know absolutely nothing about.
As far as UFC guys not being able to 'cut it'
Most of these UFC fighters are Division I wrestlers, and Olympic wrestlers, Judo players, and world class athletes.
Do you hardcore boxing elitists really feel that your beloved sport is being threatened by this up and coming sport which is really not even in competition with boxing ?
MMA has already taken the younger male demographic...and they have a stronghold on it.
The demographic which boxing has failed to capitalize on with its lackluster fights and below average fight cards.
I love boxing, always have and always will, but some of you are truly ignorant.
Quote for truth!!!
Boxing is my life's blood and even I know that a true fighter has to be wellrounded in boxing, leg strikes, and grappling to be a force in the real world. If what you guys say about MMA is true then why isn't MMA being dominated by former boxers?
First Lesnar was the "World Wrestling Entertainment Champion"
Now Lesnar is the "World Dryhumping Champion"
UFC is a joke. There are more skilled fighters at my local bar & I could watch them fight any given night for free.
Floyd said it best when he said, "Guys do UFC because they can't cut it in Boxing. MMA is a fad, anyone can shave their head & fight."
Only rednecks & college kids watch MMA bullshit.

Uh huh? You are the joke man!
Lesnar is a very competitive and atheltic fighter, got tremendous power in his punches. Sure he's still not skillfull enough, but give him a break its only his fourth fight FFS!
He defeated the Champ, next up is either Nog or Mir... till then you shut up.
it was an honest win imo. he wrestled couture well and it was a great punch that downed randy. i dunno how people would called it a fake. he may have not earned a title shot that fast but he certainly deserved the win.
Nothing fake about being a two-time NCAA All-American.
Do you see any boxers with 2 USA amateurs championships doing 3 pro fights and then wining the heavyweight champion?
What a joke UFC is...
I baffles me why UFC ever was/is popular at all. I'd never seen it until I subscribed to Setanta, but I gave it a fair chance I think after I did. Each fight seems OK for 30 seconds or so then degenerates into rolling around on the ground; I'm not sure if they are trying for a submission or trying to shag each other. I'm sure its all very well in a streetfight, but as entertainment? Nah.. give me boxing any day.

hmmm....die hard boxing fans will always support boxing and vice vesa. But if you put mma fighter vs a boxer in a real fight..... who will you bet your money on??? Boxers are BOXers, not fighters. By the way, i like both sports
I'd pick tyson, lennox, david tua, klitchko along with many other boxers over a lot of heavyweight mma fighters.
Kepp an eye on Bobby Lashley:headbang:
I can see it now 2 former WWE champions fighting for the UFC title next year lol.
They do have the right to make money outside the ring you know.
If you guys even knew just how many pro boxers have been part of pro wrestling at some point you might not be having such a hard time with this.
Also tons of MMA fighters started out in pro wrestling as a way to make a lot of fast money Ken Shamrock,Dan Severn,Tank Abbott come to mind.
It just acting it's nothing more than if your favorite boxer had been in a TV show or movie before he became a big time boxer.
Is Michael Jordan any less of a basketball player because he did Space Jam?
Lashley isn't even a heavyweight if he gets off the roids...
yes royce gracie was choking out complete 1 dimensional bums like Haggar from Final Fight woops I mean Dan Severn and 90% of the time Gracie cheated anyway pulling people's hair, choking them with his Ghi etc etc. Just look at the Kimo fight.
I can't believe I missed this. You take that insult back Fulcrum.
Haggar was based on Don Frye, not Dan Severn!!!
Brock deserved his shot because unlike a amateur boxer he is alredy in his prime and his sport allows him to counter-act hs flaws! while in boxing a flaw is the difference!
Lota gay bashing goin on in here... MMA is MMA, i like the shit but dont like the shit they do sometimes (rollin around junk 2 junk)... brock is a ****ing beast and hs amateur pedigree is that national championship... He deservd his shot the way young prsopects deserve HBO N Showtime coverage even PPV's... MMA is a different animal then Boxing and people seem to forget that and try to compare the two.. I mean you can compare the numbers and the publicity.. But as a whole, Boxing is a science thus the name Sweet Science, and MMA is MMA mixed martial arts.. the fundamentals are different the basics are different.. Its like comparing a Lion to a Tiger!
Tons of current UFC fighters tried their luck at boxing at first and quickly found out it's something they would never be good enough for and went to MMA. Seems like your average joe can become somebody there.
A see your point, but also guys in MMA that are champs or been champs have went to boxing, Vitor Belfort, Anderson Silva and Andre arlovski have all had boxing matches, not sayin they can make it as boxers, but they have tryed both sports.
It seems to me that only boxing fans have a problem with MMA, when guys like Foreman and alot of younger fighters like Cintron said he'd like to test himself in MMA, even Ali used to go to K1 and pride events
