I'm fed up to the back teeth that so called "boxing fans" on here blame Calzaghe for not having the big names on his record. He never dodged anyone, if anything, they dodged him. They had their own little merry go round, fighting each other for 5 to 10 million dollars and Joe was dangerous but not a "big name". It was all about the money, why would they take a chance against a dangerous young fighter who wasn't a "name" and risk falling off the gravy train?
Calzaghe battled his way into the "big time" by schooling the "Great American Hope" Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy, so Joe could no longer be ignored. He had his shots against B Hop and Jones Jr. and beat what was put in front of him. Whether he would have done the same in their prime or not is not the issue, they dodged Joe, not the other way round.
:headbang:
why? warren has gone on record saying calzaghe forced him to setup unworthy matches that no network even wanted to buy while warren wanted better competition. you think warren would be against big money fights? lol!
I trust Calzaghe more than Warren, who has had a history of protecting fighters by having them fight overmatched opponents in their backyard, it's nothing new with him.
:unitedsta stop hating us cause you ain't us son.
You're right, we'd all secretly love to be from a country where the only thing bigger than it's ego is the queue at the nearest fast food joint.
I blame Frank Warren more than I blame Calzaghe for fights that didn't happen that could have and should have happened.

Ahhh, the good old US of A.
A country whose arrogance is only exceeded by it's grossly inflated opinion of itself.
A country that won NO boxing medals at this years olympics.
A country whose stranglehold has been shattered by the European fighters you were so quick to discredit as "bums".
A country that thought it would be a good idea to elect George Bush the second time round.
A country where approximately 65% of the population don't even possess a passport.
Why should he go to such a place when the obviously superior fighters are all European based?
Doesn't help that you've all got fat asses either.

Joe pulled out of a fight with Johnson twice. Fact.
Nice spin though.
Yeah true. Both due to injuries. People can either choose to believe it or not.
HOWEVER...Watch Woods-Johnson 3. Calzaghe was ringside, banking on Johnson to win to set up a fight between them. He and Warren were thinking Johnson would beat Woods as easily as he did in the second fight. Unfortunatley Johnson didn't come through with the win.
Calzaghe being ringside and vocally supporting Johnson proved his intention to fight him in my op.
Joe pulled out of a fight with Johnson twice. Fact.

No spin, Joe got injured twice, and then as a replacement Johnson fought (and ultimately knocked out) Roy Jones Jr.
After what Johnson saw as a huge victory, he decided Joe high risk, low reward so he dodged him.
Nice try though.
Can't we drop all this shit. We have gone over this stuff 10,000 times. There is nothing new on the topic so what is the point of constantly repeating ourselves?
No rematch with Hop. I gave props to Joe on both victories over RJJ, and Hop. Want to cement it in my eye's? Fight a young lion? Fight Dawson. No Joe hate, but it would raise him WAY more in my eye's if he took the fight.
why didn't he leave him until the end of his career? he must not have been too frustrated with warren if it was completely his fault for him not getting all the fights. they both have to be blamed, you cant put it all on warren and none on joe.
But you can't put it all on Joe/Warren when he was calling out guys who refused to fight him.
Hopkins priced himself out, so did Taylor, and Jones didn't want to know.
Johnson decided Joe wasn't "box office" enough after he knocked out RJJ.
Joe had made offers to fight all of these people, none of them wanted to know.
Is that really Joe's fault, or did they just not fancy it?

I honestly dont think he dodged anyone. He always wanted the bigger fights with guys like hopkins and Roy when they were primed. But Frank Warren didnt let it happen.
