Hopkins/Jones and Calzaghe/Pavlik what could have been?

Nah im glad the way its paved out period.. We got to see Hop put on a clinic against Pav and Joe give a beating to jones what about two mega events not happening just because joe wanted roy jones name on his resume? imagine ppv numbers for jones/hopkins and calzaghe/pavlik compared to what they are going to be for these 2 matches.

Joe would school pavlik and through his jabbing completely off rythmn the same way hopkins did. Howver I see it more of a Joe v kessler than a Joe V Lacey kinda fight.

We all know the Pavlik-Hopkins and Jones-Calzaghe buildup and drama. Now that it is all said and done. Joe had most leverage to pick his opponent which was Jones instead of Pavlik. Both fights were one sided and uncompetitive. I believe if Jones/Hopkins and Calzaghe/Pavlik were made the fights would have been more exciting, competitive, money, and brought more attention to the sport of boxing. That would've been epic way to end 08 in boxing, but I think Joe's choice to get a name on his resume ruined that. Nah im glad the way its paved out period.. Jones and Hopkins shouldnt fight, if Roy won Id be saying different but it doesnt have that appeal now. the appeal is not there there now, but it could have happened if Joe chose Pavlik

No i dont think so. If Hopkins fought Roy, it wouldve been a one sided schooling, just as if Calzaghe fought Pavlik. Same Winners, Same Outcome, imho. I'm not saying Roy would beat Hopkins, but he would have landed more on him since he is not as fast as Calzaghe. And Calzaghe/Pavlik would not look the same because the tactics Hopkins used to beat Kelly are not strengths of Calzaghe.

Hopkins/Jones fight at first would be wow but the fight would be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I fHopkins and Jones fought now it would be mostly boring and Hopkins would win easily, maybe even by stoppage.
