I hear all this talk about how he beat a washed up fighter and he should get no credit. To see if a fighter is washed up or not, you can't just look at the age, you have to look at the way they fight. You can't just look at the age and say, oh he's washed up. B-Hop is 43, he is a physical specimen though, Hopkins hasn't really shown signs of being tired in the later rounds, a perfect example is the Pavlik fight. Hopkins killed him by landing those quick flurries, throughout the whole fight, he had pretty much the same work rate in rounds 10-12 as in rounds 1-3, and Pavlik is known for his constant pressure but Hopkins didn't get tired one bit. Hopkins is still able to hang with ANYONE in the general area of his weight class, and he's P4P#3.
The thing is Calzaghe could have lost the decision could have gone Hopkins way. Calzaghe looked bad in that fight and was knocked down. If it was more of a clear cut win he would get more props but it wasn't
Co-sign. Joe can brag about the result, just not the fight itself. Too ****in close.

I'll give Calzaghe full credit if he rematches Bhop and wins CONVINCINGLY.
Yeah, Dan Rafael reported on it I think, or was it Steve Kim?
The reason you don't hear much about it is because Bernard fans aren't keen on making excuses, unlike Joe fans.
You got a point there.
How do you figure though, Joe is not Pavlik, believe me, Joe is dirty and wouldn't really let B-Hop throw those flurries at will like that, and he wouldn't just sit down, and throw bombs like Pavlik.
not saying it would be so one sided by any means, but bhop would have beat joe that night imo.
well i gotta be honest, i like joe alot, as well as bhop, BUT........the bernard that kicked kelly's ass beats joe, and most likely anyone else from 60-75 on the current scene. he was insane that night!!!!How do you figure though, Joe is not Pavlik, believe me, Joe is dirty and wouldn't really let B-Hop throw those flurries at will like that, and he wouldn't just sit down, and throw bombs like Pavlik.

As I said once before, I don't care if it's in Wales, the referee is Joe's girlfriend, and the judges are Enzo, Joe's uncle, and the guy who gets Joe's dry cleaning for him.
And you don't think having 50,000 people booing him would play at all to Bernard's strengths either? For a guy that loves to piss off the haters and rattle the establishment as much as him?Haha you got a point there, Hopkins doesn't get affected by that. However I think that atmosphere would not be so much as hurting Hopkins, but more of boosting Joe.
Is that true ??
Haven't heard anything on it before.

He definitely deserves credit for that win now, Hopkins' win over Pavlik makes Calzaghe's win look much better than it did before. Hopkins does have an excuse for that fight though, a thyroid condition that was bothering him for both the Wright and Calzaghe fights.

Also, wouldn't you all agree that if the fight would happen, it would be in Wales? I think that would play a huge part in Joe's favor.

Glad to see somebody else point this out.
Joe fans are always accustom to having excuses on hand when it comes to him not fighting Bernard and Roy earlier, and ducking Johnson and Dawson.
JOE = ATG top 5 if he can beat Hop twice
He won't take a victory from Hopkins ever again, partly because he'll never fight him ever again.
But if the fight were to take place I would bet my house on a Hopkins UD, or even a late TKO.

Because myself, many fans here, and many other sources including ESPN, The Associated Press, and Yahoo Sports all scored it for Hopkins.
Until Joe erases any doubt, he's not gained my respect for beating Bernard.
(For the record, he did gain my respect for dominating Jones.)Then, according to you guys, if B-Hop would have won the close decision over Joe, he shouldn't have gotten the respect for beating Joe right?
The thing is Calzaghe could have lost the decision could have gone Hopkins way. Calzaghe looked bad in that fight and was knocked down. If it was more of a clear cut win he would get more props but it wasn'tUmm, just because it wasn't a clear win you don't give credit? Like I said, B-Hop can still hang with anyone in his general weight area, and he is still the toughest fighter for Joe. Doesn't the fact that Joe got KD'd, and was still able to come back and get at least close with scores say something? If B-Hop KD'd him round 1, he would have had to win round 2 and round 3, just to TIE him.
