I only saw the Setanta coverage and if i'm going to be honest they were so bad i can't stand listening to British commentators when boxing is on.
Did they give Calzaghe props or did they just wait til he destroyed him and say Roy is shot?
I saw Kellerman's interview with Calzaghe afterwards, that was good. Mainly because it was a breathe of fresh air from the usual Merchant who takes around 3 years to get his questions out.
And his Jerry Springer final thought moment always gives Jim that "The hell are you talking about?" look after he's finished.
Larry (After 3 hours of talking): "And the big question is... will Calzaghe's final match truly be where the elfs make all those delicious cookies? And if not, will the Grateful Dead have the long awaited reunion concert?"
Max: "......"
Manny: "......"
Jim: "Wow."
:lol1:
He seemed livelier in this one.
Kellerman is alright but not as a commentator, he did good work as an in studio analyst at ESPN though. If there's one good thing about Kellerman, it's his interviews, he lets fighters say what they want most of the time and asks good questions.
Haha, that video cracks me up.
Hehe, he's been watching boxing since God was a boy
:lol1:
Especially though when he proclaimed his love for Shane Mosley after the Mayorga fight. That... was weird.
Apparently I'm in the minority here. But I like Kellerman, yes his bias is annoying, but I love how he has absolutely no problem with talking s**t to a fighters face. Like when he told Casamayor he stole another one, fantastic stuff. Plus you can tell he's he's a true fan and student of the sport, which is always nice.

Merchant has that weird giggle he does sometimes at the end of a sentence when he's the only one who gets the joke. :lol1: Definitely a legend though.

It's usually only because the references he makes are always so old that most people either don't know of them, or have long forgotten about them.
Larry's been around since before they invented dirt.
Living legend though, no doubt.
:lol1: Larry has been around for a loooooooooooooong time.
Steward had some weird quotes sometimes too, but he's alright most of the time.
Lampley gets hilarious when he gets over the top. "SAVE YOURSELF, GO DOWN, THINK OF YOUR LIFE!"

Yeah, I don't have much time for Kellerman.
Steward is spot on a lot of the time, I like him.
Lampley is alright but just occasionally gets carried away and says something a bit daft.
Merchant is a legend :) slooooowest....... questions............ eveeeer....

Kellerman was annoying all show to me, I missed Merchant.
And that was a beautiful uppercut, I envisioned Jones landing that uppercut a couple of weeks ago, except it sent Calzaghe down in my vision.

Kellerman's nuthuggery of Roy is all the more evidence that they should fire him, and use the money they were paying him to give Larry Merchant a raise.
You're not wrong... end of the sixth though I think?
Great shot. I love the way he rolls into it - beautiful.
Have to say I'm a big fan of both fighters. Props to Roy for not whingeing and taking the way out that the cut so obviously presented to him.
That uppercut Jones landed in the 4th I want to say was a thing of beauty though. Catches Joe with it and ducks out right under his incoming hook. That was a "What the **** just hit me?" punch that Jones used to be able to throw at will. Most guys would have gone down from it.
It looked even better in slow-mo!
Showboating was fine, both fighters were doing it. If Roy was the one beating Calzaghe then he would have done the same. Also, it's clear Calzaghe respects Jones a lot so i don't think it's fair to say he was being unsportsmanlike.
