There have been some major fights lately some upsets, some huge wins, some fighters retired, etc... and we haven't done a p4p in a while.. or at least I haven't seen one due to my lack of recent activity on the site...
I honestly don't know what's the best way to sort these guys...
A lot of talent and a lot of close calls..
If I take another look at my list below, I'd probably be saying "WTF was I thinking?".. but at the current moment this is the best that came out of me..
Much disputed list:
Calzaghe
Pacquiao
Hopkins
Vazquez
Chris John
Marquez
Abraham
Margarito
Hatton
Pavlik
When Margarito beat Cotto. Cotto was # 3 in most lists. and margarito was not near the top 15. thats Why, Cotto should be higher. Is like if DLh beats Pacman, and you put Pacman at # 5 and Oscar at #3
Perhaps I'm looking at the whole P4P the wrong way... but in my interpretation, the P4P means who would win if all fighters were in the same weight class (and more or less the same size)
and not really just on past performance / resume alone.
That's why for example, if Pacuiao and Calzaghe were lets' say both Middleweights.. I see Calzaghe beating him.
Margarito beat Cotto, so why would Cotto be higher than him in the rankings...
But hey, that's just one way of looking at things
1.Manny Pacqiao
2.Juan Marquez
3.Joe Calzaghe
4.Bernard Hopkins
5.Israel Vasquez
6.Antonio Margarito
7.Miguel Cotto
8.Rafael Marquez
9.Ivan Calderon
10.Paul Williams
In terms of what they have done recently, but in actual boxing skills(what is the sweet science) at the time I got..
1.Juan Marquez
2.Bernard Hopkins
3.Miguel Cotto
4.Ivan Calderon
5.Rafael Marquez

I struggle to disagree with this, but I'm not sure either way. I do think p4p rankings are seeing some odd jumps, sometimes it's justified others not. Cotto was too high before, and Margarito too high now, plus it's ridiculous he's super champ or whatever for some special reason unknown.
I know most see the welterweight as the strongest division and have done for a wee while, but I think the top guys get a little too much cred, sometimes in the p4p rankings too. To have Cotto, Margarito and Williams in the top 10 seems excessive when you consider there's what 12 divisions to choose from. Imagine if Mayweather came back. That's nearly 50% of the p4p rankings as the welterweight division, seems ridiculous.
fair enough, but he has no wins that get him even close to the top 10 imo, but to each his own my man.
I don't disagree with you :)
Well yeah maybe I went to high with Calderon. But Cotto is still better than Margarito.
How so? Didn't he knock him out?
But I would still keep him in the top 10... I had him at #3-4 before he lost to Margarito
Juan Marquez
Manny Pacquia
Joe Calzaghe
Bernard Hopkins
Rafael Marquez
Israel Vasquez
Ivan Calderon
Paul Williams
Chad Dawson
Antonio Margarito
_Next 5_________
Nonito Donaire
Vic Darchinyan
Miguel Cotto
Kelly Pavlik
Nate Campbell
1. Pacman
2. Marquez
3. Calzaghe
4. Hopkins
5. Vazquez
6. P. Williams
7. R. Marquez
8. Cotto
9. Calderon
10. Margarito
Am I the only one who thinks there is a serious drop off after the top 5. The rest can really be put in any order until somebody really steps up and separates themselves.
He is a damn powerful MW for a small guy... solid chin...
As of now, I don't think Pavlik beats him.

1.Pacquiao
2.Calzaghe
3.B-Hop
4.Calderon
5.JMM
6.Vazquez
7.Cotto
8.Margarito
9.Darchinyan
10.Marquez
If Pac loses to DLH the Joe moves up!
Very good list... with some Puerto Rican bias :)
i'm sorry but abraham is in no way a top 10 p4p fighter as of now. miranda, old ass eastman, marquez=p4p top 10?

so you think beating roy jones, and pac losing to de la hoya justifies joe being#1??? hey phuck me then joe is god
No...
Moving up in weight, becoming a linear undisputed LHW champ, beatting two legends, remaining undefeated is better than losing to someone who previously lost to a P4P #1.
Are people seriously placing Calzaghe #1 after beating Jones? Jones wasn't even ranked in the top 10. Maybe Hopkins should be #1 after beating a RANKED pavlik?? lol.
Nothing changes for me:
1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Juan Manuel Marquez
3. Joe Calzaghe
4. Bernard Hopkins
I don't mind people swapping Marquez with Calzaghe, but peeps are getting a lil too excited with Joe's win over Jones. Come on!
Calzaghe moves up because Hopkins MAULED Pavlik and Calzaghe battered Jones too.
