You can say what you want about Joe's resume, but the fact is, he couldn't get big name fights back in the day, for whatever reason.
The Hopkins' and the Jones' didn't fight him in their primes. They were happy to fight bums for 10 million rather than take on a live opponent for only 5 or 6 million.
Fairplay to them, I think anybody would have done the same, but it's not Joe's fault that he couldn't achieve big name status when he was fighting what many fat yanks like to call "eurobums".
You can only beat what's in front of you, and he did, 46 times.
He raises his game to suit the opponent and the fat yanks don't like it because at 46-0 he has the best record in the game today.
So what exactly is left for him to prove?
There are no more "names" for him to get for his resume, so it is effectively complete.
Why should he grant a shot to Dawson?
Who exactly has Dawson beaten?
Apart from Tarver, who was old and always was inconsistent, and Johnson, who he should never have been given the victory against anyway, he has beaten nobody.
The supposed "legends" of America didn't give Joe his shot when he was a relative unknown, and the public defended this decision.
So why are the same people now saying that until he fights Dawson he has not proven himself?
Joe had to wait for his shot at a legend, if Dawson wants a shot at a legend, he is going to have to wait until Joe is good and ready, if ever.
PLEASE TELL ME WHO THE HELL SHOULD CALZAGHE FIGHT IF HE ISN'T FIGHTING DAWSON???
who else is there at 175????!!!!
That's the point. Dawson has done nothing to warrant a shot and there is nobody else.
Hence the question "What more can he do?"
joe is human garbage thats a fact. he ordered warren to make easy matchups for him most of his career. another fact. you can't claim good fighters ducked him that is wrong and bullshit. he wanted to fight mario veit twice lol! beating shit fighters like lacy and kessler and getting a gift against hopkins is not a great career. if seeing how well fighters do against a shot roy jones is any indication of how good a fighter is tarver and johnson are light years ahead of windmill *** who almost got ko'd.
He didn't want to fight Mario Veit twice, he destroyed him in a round in the first fight (when both were 30-0) and then Veit climbed the ladder and became Joe's mandatory.
He didn't have a choice the second time.
You should learn the facts before you post such bullshit next time.

You really are a poor poster.

who did Joe beat? keep in mind when he fought certain fighters.
Who didnt he beat?
But i believe he should have made a big effort to fight in America years ago to try and get big fights against Hopkins and Jones.
Hopkins is still a very capable fighter. Calzaghe deserves credit for that win.
.
I love how this fact is conveniently ignored by ignorant american fans.
They always love to place the blame on Joe as if he was boxings biggest star.
i know exactly what you mean some haters actually think that joe was waiting for the other fighters to get old before taking them on - no thats not true. go back to sites like bbc and skysports and ever since joe has beaten eubank he has been calling out the best in and around his weight divsion, it was obvious that hopkins didn't want no piece of him, RJJ was busy thinking about the heavyweight belts and the fights with johnson was postponed because of a hand injury.
calzaghes luck justw wasn't in, plus alot of fighters were in the weight division jsut below him or just above him but when he did get his chance vs a fighter who was american and in his weight divsion boy did he take it.
anyways even if you look at his career defences - robin reid, mario veit, charles brewer, omar sheika, byron mitchell - these guys aren't bad fighters and joe handled all of them. all of them were ex-champs and that was something that joe has often mentioned and its something thats often annoyed him.
imo a prime robin reid win and the omar sheika win deserves to be ranked just as high as a win over g.johnson would be.
anyways really hope joe decides to take on dawson, dawson needs a big fight against a big opponent possibly vs hopkins or kessler. that would set up a light heavy weight decider with JC, but at the minute hes just not box office enough for joe.

After he beat Lacy and, more recently, Kessler, the American boxing world stood up and finally took notice.
This is what got him a fight with Hopkins and Roy.
Dawson hasn't proved enough to get a shot at Joe yet, which is unfortunate for him as he hasn't got enough time to build up his name before Joe retires.
This topic gets discussed time and time again after every Calzaghe fight and it will never reach a conclusion were everyone agrees.
Some people won't give Calzaghe credit, but so what?!? His record speaks for itself and it's in black and white and nothing will change it.
Every top class fighter gets nit picked, it's just so happens that top class European fighters get more stick then most. That's just the way it is!
