Normally this show would do very good numbers. With a struggling economy and a dismal undercard, it could be a different story. Predict the buyrate for Calzaghe-Jones. Poll to follow.
yeah strange
do you just put it down to lack of fan base for Joe or Hatton just having a huge following or are people just not interested in watching Jones v Calz for what ever reason
whats your opinion on it ?
I would say it's because of the economy. We are all struggling at the moment and the pound has lost 25% of it's value to the dollar since Hatton fought Mayweather.
Honestly? 200k-300k. Even with RJJ and the 24/7 treatment, this just won't sell well. I mean for one the episodes were really boring compared to the last two. The fighters didn't even talk about each other, for example. But mostly, I think PPVs are about to bottom out. If Pavlik/Hopkins didn't move buys, I can't see Jones/Calzaghe doing any more than doubling their buys and... that still isn't really that good.
From what I've heard, that would be the nice way of saying it. It seems that Hatton's fans are much more willing to travel across the Atlantic than Joe's are.
The sold over 13K tickets.
Pavlik-Hopkins did under 190K Buys, so i think 300-400 would be a decent number.
i heard on the radio toady that ticket sales have been quite slow
Last row seats are priced at $150, or around 130 Euros. That's ridiculous. I got tixx for the Cotto-Judah fight at $50 (back).
The promotion for this fight has been everywhere, from radio to tv to papers. Even bigger is 24/7 of course. People I know outside of boxing are even talking about it. Roy is still a big name fighter that draws in a wide number of people. People want to know if Jones can "turn bakc the clock". I don't think people will make the same mistake as missing the Hopkins fight.
The under card is underrated also. Emanuel Augustus - Frankie Figueroua is a compelling fight, as is the opportunity to see Salita.
I say it does better then 500k, I see a 600-750 number.
400k.
you guys are under-rating the undercard.
judah, augutus, figeroua - this'll be a above-average undercard, plus theres alot of anticipation for main event.
thats one of the better undercards this year
400k.
