Boxing is my #1 sport to watch and compete in. I do respect the skill involved in MMA also. There's many haters on this site that trash talk the sport of MMA. I just can't figure it out? I enjoy most any combat sport. True fight fans should also.....Tonight on Verses 8pm ET 5pm WT there will be an MMA event. A fighter named Urijah Faber 21-1 will be competing and stands 5'6" and weighed in at 144.5 lbs. Do yourself a favor, watch this fight! My question is, if Mayweather fought Faber in the Octagon with MMA rules and gloves, who do you think would win and why?

If Faber tried to pull off idiot moves like this, not badly.
Faber might beat Floyd in the cage by simply taking him down but their skill level in their own sports is not even comparable. Mayweather would never make a mistake like that.
*facepalm*
Never tornado of the cage.

Shit I thought I was watching it live just now. What an idiotic thing to do.

Faber just got KOed.
I'm happy you mentioned that. He made a big mistake. It's called being cocky. That elbow he threw was thrown with no reguard of being countered. His opponent had good hand skills along with a great ground game. That's my point. These guys are well rounded fighters. Not great in one area but dam good in all. Now I'm talking about the elite fighters now. Not alot of the bums on the undercards. That fight alone proves MMA can be exciting and should be respected. By the way the winner walked out of the ring more ****ed up than the looser. He would **** Floyd up in the streets too. Those two will fight again, I'm sure.
Faber fights in the WEC, not the Octagon (UFC).
Knucklehead.....an octagon reff: to the shape of the cage they fight in. Both UFC and WEC fight in an octagon cage. It's O.K. though, atleast you show some interest in my thread.
not exactly..if you watch mma, then most of the fighters that can defend against takedowns like cro cop, bj penn, arlovski, liddell, rampage, etc. don't have extensive backgrounds in wrestling if any at all. takedown defense doesn't seem like a hard thing to develop. if boxers did have takedown defense or developed it, they'd easily be a force.
they would be more than a force they would be unstoppable.
look how b.j dominates sean sherk with his stand up watch the 2nd fight with penn and hughs and see how b.j dominates that 1st round with his stand up see how koscheck beat diego sanchez by boxing, rampage takes advantage of lidell's suspect hand skills and knocks him out watch the recent bisping vs leban fight bisping boxed and moved and got an easy decision
bob sapp, he defeated ernesto hoost twice. i'm guessing you didn't know that. and bjj isn't a form of wrestling and it doesn't involve td defense. it focuses on submissions.
I'm done talking to you, get a clue.
liddell would disagree. so would bj penn. and none of those fighters have an extensive background in wrestling, liddell and rampage are the only ones with backgrounds in wresting, i would know i follow mma.
and the thing about kickboxing is it might involve more weapons, but you can't follow up as fast after a kick like you can with a punch. if you've ever watched k-1, one of the best kickboxers over there ernesto hoost was stopped two times by bob sapp who threw almost nothing but hooks. rarely any kicks. for th emost part, it will boil down to skill.
BOB FUKIN' SAPP. End of Story.

Well, you must not follow it enough, BJ has been doing BJJ since you were probably born. Arlovski is a life long Russian Sambo practitioner.

All the guys you just metioned have been envolved in some form of grappling since they started fighting, less Mirko Filipovic. But he ain't a boxer, he's a KICKBOXER. That means he can use his hands AND feet. That alone gives HIM an advantage against a pure boxer. Now throw in the grappling part of it. Boxers don't stand a chance. They can get lucky of course, but common sense here says they get whooped against a top MMA practitioner. The end.
Floyd would get beat up bad. Boxer's who have no other fighting skills can't compete with mixed martial artist at the top level. It's just not fair. It's like asking an NBA player to go head on with an NFL running back.
Faber would destroy Mayweather in a street fight or in the cage
The truth will set you free! I could never guerantee that but I would bet a good chunk of money on it. Faber would take him to the ground, pound him for a bit then choke him out with ease.....That's if he could get past maybe a two punch combo as he went for the takedown. (shouldn't be a problem for him though.)
lmao i first thought you said fador  two different sports bro it's like asking how a rugby player would do in the nfl you know? And EVERY MMA FIGHTER would be a boxer if they had the ability to, boxing is where the mulla is at :)
It's you again,lol...You are right at one thing...The rugby vs. NFL comment is true. That was my point. Both Rugby players and NFL have different rules but both have great skills. I respect athletes from both sports. Your wrong about all MMA fighters not having the skill to box that's why they compete in MMA. It's true in some cases but for the most part they just love the sport of MMA more. By the way, I would bet on Faber whooping Floyd ass in the street!
he would lose is that what you wanted to hear? Money isnt an MMA fighter why in the world would he want to fight in the Octogon?
put Faber in a ring with Money and watch his head spin like top. He would be lucky to land one punch on Money.
why dont you put up that type of thread? How many seconds would Faber last against Mayweather in a ring. Your right Floyd would destroy Faber in the boxing ring. They are two different sports with different skills and rules. I'm just wanting people to understand both have skill and should be respected for what they are. Two different sports. In a street fight I would give the advantage to MMA fighters for the most part due to their well rounded skills.
1. UFC has worked there way up insulting boxing, F,uck UFC. There fightz are boring, they have no skill, they're very slow to execute...I respect Fedor atleast
Watch the main event tonight then Faber might change your mind. You can't comprehend skill if you never tried the sport.
UFC white trash fans talk shit about boxing all the time. The trash culture around UFC includes the commentators and their shitty owner. That's why boxing fans hate on UFC.
That's very ignorant to say. There's mutiracial fans and fighters in the sport of MMA. Both sports have a different set of rules. Faber would destroy Floyd in the Octagon, Floyd would do the same in the boxing ring. That's why you should respect both sports.
