Yeah those are the numbers that ******************'s John Chavez was able to come up with.
I honestly thought it would do 225k buys.
But under 200k buys that is just horse shit
Morales / Barerra numbers were even that good for two legends. Don't go around and say Hispanics buy the most PPV they clearly don't.
I recall the 2nd Morales v. Barrera fight to be into the 300 thousands.
Who has had the most PPV's? Julio Cesar Chavez!!! Prove me wrong!
it wasn't even exciting - maybe in comparison to other fights, sure; this one didn't bore you to tears, unlike his past several. But once you get past Hopkins being the winner, the fight in a vacuum was hardly worth a second look. Really not unlike Hopkins-Tarver.
Interesting about Pavlik - Arum claimed last year that this was the kid to reel in the MMA audience and carry boxing on his shoulders. Yet, if Rick's earlier estimate is correct, then HBO and/or Top Rank (still unsure who gains and who loses once the pie is split) will have LOST money on both of Pavlik's PPV shows this year.
I think Hop gave Tarver much more respect thus resulting in a more boring fight. Up until the 4th or 5th round when he knocked Tarver down, it was a snoozer. At least the Pavlik fight was mildly entertaining at it's worst.
Anyone???????
Why are you such a cunt? It was probably Morales/Barrera III. take into account that smaller weight classes are usually not even on PPV let alone sell many of them.
Your boy wasn't even on PPV until he hit 140. And if Gatti weren't in the opposite corner, that wouldn't of even went down.
I didnt think it would even do that well. Who buys a Hopkins fight? I like Nard, but he is boring as **** to watch. Well 90% of the time he is boring to watch, it just turns out that he put on a show this last time out. But I know people who buy just about every PPV, and told me ahead of time they wouldnt pay $1 to watch Hopkins wrestle.
I think they might've gone PPV too early with Pavlik. Should've built him up some more. Damn that Hopkins.
On another note, HBO is doing everything it can to save itself from more losses but I get the feeling Jones-Calzaghe may be an even bigger one.
pavlik isnt a true household name yet, and hopkins hasnt made an exciting fight in years aside from that fight itself.
i wouldnt have ****ing bought it, i streamed that shit.
ppv is killing the sport, economy is already bad enough no one wants to dish out 50 for a boring ass hopkins. just cause that performance was exciting doesnt mean that any of his future ones will be.

well i guess pacquiao-diaz didn't do too bad in comparison.
the economy is real bad right now. people don't want to spend $50-60 on ppv.
i wonder how joe-roy will do......
i hope joe / rjj tanks.
Until HBO or Top Rank release it officially than it all talk. FACT
As others mentioned, it will be released at years end. But the Margarito-Cotto fight doing more than 400,000 was confirmed by HBO. They can't legally release if it a promoter doesn't give their blessing, and for whatever reason Top Rank opts to not have the numbers for their events released (Arum claims financial, but as with everything else I'm sure he's lying).
You can counter that HBO was lying, but the same could be said of any number released. For what it's worth, a month prior to Tony-Cotto, they actually dismissed claims that Pack-David Diaz sold over 250K (a number Arum tried to float), saying it was closer to 200K.
Fuck, some fights won't happen because of the purse. Common sense
Yes Flawless but thats not for us to worry about. I dont go around saying "I only want this to happen if he gets paid well".
You really think boxers fight for the fans only and not care about a pay day, seriously. Calzaghe would have been fighting Pavlik, Margarito - Williams would be happening, Mayweather - Cotto, Pacman - JMM 3, Pavlik - AA, Kessler - Froch
Fights will happen if both fighters are happy with the purse FACT
As a BOXING FAN, I dont care about purses dumbass. When I say I wanna see a fight, its because I want to see two guys fight. Why do you care what each fighter gets paid?? You're not seeing any of it.
why do you talk about ppv's??? You sound like a fuken 13 year old. Your a pathetic fan. what do you care how much ppv's a fight sells? You don't know shit about boxing as a business your a fuken troll. Idiots like you kill this sport. Your a broke little white kid talking about ppv sales like it's your religion. If it wasn't for floyd mayweather talking this you wouldn't never even speak ppv numbers, as a matter of fact if it wasn't floyd you wouldn't even be registered on these boards.
Spot on. The guy is a laughing stock. I said I would like to see Kessler vs Hopkins in another thread and he was worried about how much Hopkins would get paid. What the ****? What kinda boxing fan cares about that stuff??
