Great logic there you freaking morons. I can already tell who the idiots are on boxingscene when they use logic like this.
So we can't give credit to Calzaghe for beating a Bhop who dominated Pavlik? You were saying Bhop was shot just this past April when he lost to Calzaghe. "Calzaghe beat a 43 year old. So what?" Yet when Bhop beats Pavlik, everybody says "Bhop stepped into a time machine!! I haven't seen him this good in 10 years!!"
Did it ever occur to you morons that maybe Calzaghe was the reason Bhop wasn't able to do what he wanted to do? Cos obviously Bhop was able to do whatever the hell he wanted against Pavlik tonight! Or are we going to hear more ridiculously, nonsensical, bullshit excuses about how Bhop stepped into a reverse time machine and he was shot in April yet in his prime tonight?
FACE THE FACTS. You might not like Calzaghe's style, but he rules 175 on down from Bhop to Pavlik to whoever the **** else.
NO MORE STUPID REVERSE LOGIC HEAD UP YOUR ASS EXCUSES PLEASE
I think I should bump this thread not only for the Pavlik fans whose fighter got exposed but also for the Bhop fans themselves who got exposed for making contradictory arguments.
I think something was wrong with Hopkins when he fought Joe.He knocked the guy down and stoped punching. It sure as he wasnt anything Joe did..because he didn't do shit but fall in and flail like a DROWNING SPIDER MONKEY.
Despite looking horrible that night..HOPKINS STILL WON..The judges sucked ass because Joe didn't land any scoring punches and got dropped on his ass and hurt several times.
That wasn't the first time they stuck it to ol' B-Hop.
Hopkins strayed from his normal regiment and he got tired.
Joe didn't do nearly enuff to win the fight.
Mate, you are honestly among the stupidest pricks here. You remind me of Sonic Flood. A real retard. Show me a spot in the B-Hop/Pavlik fight in which B-Hop had Pavlik hurt, which was numerous times, and yet he kept up a sustained attack trying to KO Pavlik ... ? He didn't. Every time he had Pavlik hurt he threw a few punches and stopped, waited, resumed his game plan. Try watching the fight instead of jacking off over it.
Hopkins tried to, but Calzaghe, as much as you hate him, didn't fall into B-Hop's traps as Pavlik so easily did. Now go f*ck off somewhere else and pretend you've even boxed before or something. Dumb prick.
What's interesting is that most people don't even realise that Calzaghe is himself a spoiler, just as Hopkins is. That is how Calzaghe wins his fights, by making the other guy fight his fight. Exactly as Hopkins won the fight against Pavlik, Calzaghe won the fight against Hopkins, no matter how bad it looked. Pavlik didn't do anything to stop Hopkins doing what he wanted, whereas, Calzaghe adjusted and didn't allow Hopkins to keep doing what he wanted to do.
Calzaghe made Hopkins fight more his fight than Hopkins made Calzaghe fight his, hence, Calzaghe won. Whether or not it was a terrible fight and whether or not you whine about "Hopkins didn't throw any punches in that fight but he did against Pavlik!" is straight up arse, because he was made to fight a fight he didn't want to. Calzaghe beat Hopkins at his own game. That = W12.
Edit: People can argue all they want about how many people thought Hopkins won, but the fact is more people thought Calzaghe won. He looked like shit when he was meant to look great, which is a big reason for everyone bitching as they are, but he still beat him.
Great post. Pretty much sums it up.

Hopkins makes everyone look bad, it's just he made Pavlik look really bad.
I give credit to Calzaghe for forcing Hokins to fight at a pace he was uncomfortable with, for putting up with all the usual Hopkins spoiling tactics and still coming out on top. It wasn't a great performance (Calzaghe is the first to admit that) but it looks a lot more credible now after Pavlik being taken to school.
Calzaghe will always be criticized for not facing Hops and RJ early in their carrers ..Lets face it,,a prime RJ and Hop would kill a prime Calzaghe
Wonder why Bhop ducked him and Roy ignored him then.
Some people will never give Calzaghe credit, but hopefully after last night result they realise that Joe's win over Nard was infact not a win over a shot fighter but a win over a formidable opponent.
Just proves that Kelly was overhyped and I include myself in doing that.
Bernard took him to school and showed that Kelly only has one real way of fighting. People like Hopkins and Calzaghe are versatile and can adjust which is why they have been at the top so long.
It makes Jack Loew look like the mouthy clown he is, I bet Enzo Calzaghe is laughing his head off - They said Kelly wasn't upto it and Bernard proved them right.
For the record Joe beat Bernard by imposing his fight on Hopkins and clawed his way back from the early set back of a knockdown - thats proof of Greatness and Bhop schooling Pavlik, who couldn't impose his fight game on Hopkins, just emphasizes that Bhop and Joe are Great fighters.
You can moan and complain but you can't change the result.

What did Hopkins do to win the fight?
Was it the holding, The butting or The feigning of injury that impressed you most?

Great post. This fight can lead you to one of two conclusions.
1. Pavlik was severely over rated or
2. Hopkins is still a great fighter
My opinion is a that Hopkins is still a great fighter and that Calzaghe was just a bit better.
Joe Calzaghe record will be able to be put into more perspective now, and he can retire after the RJJ fight happy. No matter who BH beats, JC will always have that victory over BH.
No one can say JC only fought over the hill opponents now. But BH keeps suprising everyone. Sure he is a spoiler and that is why he has lasted so long and hasnt been knocked out. But he can still box when he wants to.
BH will go down as a great but how highly he will be rated will cause confusion because he has bored people to tears at times, but at other times has shown his stuff.
Calzaghe will never get respect from half of this forum simply because half of this forum is dumb. The real people will judge Calzaghe from his style, record, acheivements in the ring, and base their view of him on that. The haters will just pick apart records and cite boxrec, based on their own one dimentional view of boxing.
Say what you will about that fight. The bottom line is that the fight was really close regardless of whether or not you think Hopkins won that fight.
I personally saw Calzaghe edge him out purely on workrate. I'll concede the fact that Hopkins was the cleaner and more accurate puncher that night. BUT, Hopkins lost the fight for himself moreso than Calzaghe won it. Basically, I felt Calzaghe deserved the W more due to Bhops inactivity rather than his own brilliance. Still, a win is a win. I bet Pavlik could agree with me on that one...
You can say you hate Calzaghe cos he slaps or whatever, but if you can't appreciate Calzaghe's skill as a boxer, then you're just a hater in my opinion.
I posted that on page 2 of this thread.
There's also the respect factor. Do you think Hopkins will be a little bolder? He criticized Joe's lack of power so bad I wonder if he'd try to be brave enough to walk through the onslaught. I'm still a little perplexed by that. He spent so much time going backwards and throwing one at a time against a man he claimed couldn't punch.
I think the whole thing with Bhop saying Calz has no power, yet being on the backfoot the whole night, wasn't cos he in actuality was scared of Calzaghe's power. I think it was moreso because he knew Calzaghe was an accurate puncher.
He walked towards Pavlik tonight, and at some moments he amazingly had Pavlik on the backfoot (I thought I'd never see that happen). Thing is, Pavlik has no handspeed and his angles are so goddamn predictable. Joe punches from all angles and has great accuracy. Sure he might not throw the same weight into his punches as Pavlik does, but he can hit for accuracy.
