Floyd would be #1 even if Pacman win. Matter of fact, if Pacman can stand his own against Oscar and have some success against Malignaggi/Hatton, then look for Mayweather/Pacman in 2010.
oscar doesn't become p4p #1 for beating pac. the size disparity is just too great.
I think the p4p #1 status should be vacated when Pac loses, and that would force Pac to rematch JMM (who is #2) for the #1 spot.
mayweather would have to beat someone in his own wieght class and on the top ten p4p list to ""earn"" a spot on the list in my opinion. Every one complains about the alphabet titles and how they just award fighters the belt without them having to fight a champion for it. they atleast got money to earn for their bias. Alot of you guys do the same thing with your p4p rankings just to nut hug. A guy dont just automaticlly earn a spot on the list just for being your fav. fighter. Floyd is off the list due to him retiring and inactivity and has to fight to be back on top. thats all there is to it IMO.
hold up, I'm asking the questions.
Assuming Pacquiao is No.1, if Oscar beats him, he becomes No.1 in most people's eyes, no?
or will Calzaghe take that slot after fighting Jones?
hell no why would he?
did you put Tarver as the p4p #1 when he beat Jones?
did you replace Hopkins with Taylor when Taylor beat him near the top of p4p?
just because oscar beats pacquiao suddenly he is the number 1 p4p. why? the obvious is stated that oscar is the bigger man fighting a smaller opponent. plus not all his last fights were exciting. and why will floyd be number one again when he was number 1 p4p he never gave a exciting fight.
Since when pound4pound is about excitement?
It's about overall boxing skills of the boxer compare to other boxers in other divisions that determines that you're pound4pound king.
But Pac from Flyweight 112 to fighting @ 147 is simply AMAZING!!!
Pac to me is Pound4Pound is not simply because he's an exciting nor has great boxing skills. He's Pound4Pound becuz he was a former flyweight champion and now fighting @ 147 and NO former flyweight should have any business being in a ring against a welterweight. There's a reason why they have weight divisions. And Pac might figure that out this coming Dec. 6...
Pac will still be number 1 after he loses to Oscar IMO. Floyd would need 1 or 2 pretty significant victories to take it back.
if pac loses to oscar he wont remain top p4p in my opinion...
it puts him back to second place...
and it puts oscar at the low end of the top 10...if oscar were to not only beat pac but beat floyd in rematch it puts him top 3 easily...
has DLH ever been pfp #1??????
Yes. His win over Whitaker moved him up there. Even the loss to Trinidad didn't dent that.
He lost it after Mosley-De La Hoya I.
and floyd decides to come out of retirement. who is pfp #1?
in my opinion it will be de la hoya v. mayweather II...
if oscar beats pacquaio and floyd returns a rematch between the two is almost CERTAINLY going to happen.
Good lookin homey. I hadn't checked on that shit. This would make JMM the man then.
I was pretty surprised honestly...
JMM has a pretty good resume, but... his main wins are older dudes, who are at the end of their careers.
Barrera hasn't won a fight since his loss to JMM.
Casamayor is at the end of the road for sure.
I think Calzaghe should be ahead of JMM, but that is just me.
If Oscar beats Pac (and depending on if its a convincing victory), Oscar might be low on the top 10 if that. Because at the end of the day, beating Pac would mean that Oscar had beaten a dominant lightweight, not a true welter.
If Floyd comes back at that point, I guess Calzaghe would be somewhat of an interim p4p #1 until Floyd or Pac have another big fight to claim their places.
JMM is ahead of Joey Cal in The Ring rankings at the moment by the way.

DLH can't automatically be #1 for beatin Pac and PBF can't automatically be #1 just by comin back. If Joe C beats Roy decisively then he'll be #1. If Joe C loses or wins in unconvincing fashion against RJ, JMM should be #1 imo.

Forrest beating Mosley twice when Mosley was P4P #1 did not get him the #1 spot.
Taylor beating Hopkins twice when Hopkins was P4P #1 did not get him the #1 spot.
There is no way ODLH jumps to #1 with a win.
It would be Mayweather I think... I guess Calzaghe or Marquez might sneak in, but... the ODLH win would definitely skyrocket in terms of importance for Mayweather I think, so I think that would keep Mayweather on top.
i take it Ricky has been downing a few pints and is wishfully thinking that for Oscar in case he gets him next year...
I seen him saying it on his new chat show, seemed quite serious. You could tell he didn't want to go up to Welter again but he reckoned it was a shot at the pfp #1
I guess he might be wrong.
giving Oscar that # 1 ranking will totally diminish The Rings p4p value IMO...plus the stench of having your magazine's owner AT the top of those ratings is just bad pr
depends how much hype the fight gets, they could justify it if it dominates the media
if/when oscar beats manny, i think Calzaghe takes the spot...even if Floyd comes back, he's gonna need at least one fight before we give him his rightful ranking...
Cheers thats what I was wanting to know.
you can't give it to oscar...his recent record reads something like 'loss, win, loss, win, loss'....and he's basically doing something (beating many) that's already expected....
BUT, if manny wins, it solidifies HIS claim to that rank...regardless of how impressive Calzaghe looks against Roy
fair point, but Hatton seems to think Oscar would be pfp #1 if he beats Pacquiao. I guess if the best agrees to fight you and he loses to you, then you become the best. Certainly HBO will have it that way.
