Ok justched the vid of Benn talking on fighting Roy Jones, well game eh!?
But Listen to this, no Bull Shit, I met Nigel years later at my local Nightclub where he was DJ'ing and got talking boxing to him for a bit.
I mentioned that it was a pitty a Jones fight never came off and do u know what he said? "Na im glad he'd have killed me!"
And he was serious, he added he woulda fought anybody but now knew that Jones was on another level. Jones hadnt lost to Tarver at this point by the way. Very Honest i was impressed
Well he sure didnt think like that when he was active but it was good speakin to him and i thought he was honest i mean look at Larry Holmes bitter ass!
I have three thoughts on this....
1. Isn't is something how, after a fighter is retired, they can open up, relax and let their guard down, not having to always talk smack and brash and bold. The older version of George Foreman never talked smack, but was humble and even funny. And he still beat people up good!
The Nigel Benn at his peak would have NEVER admitted that publically, even if he thought it was true. Active fighters have that machismo going 24/7.
Humberto "Chiquita" Gonzalez would have said he could have whipped Sonny Liston when he was active!
2. It's nice to see that Nigel has found some sort of peace outside of boxing.
I agree that RJ would have beat him, but it would have been a great fight.
Nigel Benn was always someone I enjoyed watching fight.
3. Now, if you can get some kind of rational statement from Chris Eubank about HIS chances vs RJ, THAT would be something! :)
I Think ur right there Terry, but im not banking on running into Bank aswell and certainly not hearing anything Rational from the mad bastard!
of course he would've. its very nice of Nigel to admit it. but I doubt any of the Roy haters will believe you.
Im not bothered im a Big Benn fan too, my favourite fighter from our shoers by far, i just thiought id share my experiance. A guy asked me for a link or it didnt happen earlier! lol Alink to a conversation between a DJ (benn) and a drunk me in A shitty ass nightclub!? Its very true tho

If he's talking about 1995, he's right, Jones would've beaten him without much difficulty at that point, Jones was just entering his prime and Benn wasn't the fighter he once was.
I'd pick Jones over him prime for prime as well but it would have been a more competitive fight.
I think it all depends on what version of Jones Benn fought !
If Benn fought the venison of Jones that got laid out by Glenn Johnson ,i believe Jones would got KOed even faster against Benn!
But yeah prime for prime Jones would of beaten Benn !:boxing:

Collins was very unspectacular.
Reminds me of Hatton in his mindset with that unshakable belief in themselves though in reality there are alot of better guys.
Agreed. And he wasn't a fighter with KO pop. It's almost ludicrous to believe Jones was afraid to fight him. Reggie Johnson outboxed him and Roy Jones would've battered him, especially at 168.
When I think of "what if" fights, this does not come to mind.
Hahaa, Thanks. Me neither. It's alarming to me that anyone actually does. But that's nuthugging for you.
I think Benn was just a better brawler than Collins. And despite that circumstances and problems with the Gerald fight, you have to give him that awesome win. I just don't see what Collins could do to him, that he couldn't do way better back.

Benn was looking like shite in these times.
He lost to Maligna whose head he would sent to the cheap seats in his prime. Roy would have KO'd this Benn in under 3 rounds.
I think Benn could beat Collins. He was better at what he did than what Collins was at what he did. The prime Eubank fight would have been competitive. Calzaghe was the wrong style and class for Benn. But yeah Benn did always seem pretty practical about his abilities for the most part.
Benn was a super puncher, truly explosive. But the bottom line is he lacked the boxing ability and was too easy to get hit to beat prime elites. He still had a punchers chance against anybody though.
Seriously fella's, take the ego's private you clutter the forums for others.
Incidentally, Nigel Benn also said Calzaghe would have beaten him, a prime Eubank and Collins. So basicaly admitting he's the best SMW ever. Good to see boxers without so much self pride they can't judge objectively. The guy is very practical and open about not only his limitations but others.
Another sorry ass excuse. Typical Dirk, defending his boyfriends to the last.
How is that an excuse you ****in twat? Do you know anything about Nigel Benn?
Benn said this in 1996 when he asked for $10m to fight Jones. He said he knew he'd lose and just go out swinging. This was after the McClellan fight where he'd clearly lost his desire
K1 is kickboxing. No hugging there. Anyone interested youtube the best fighters: Masato, Sato (japan), Buakaw Por Pramuk (thailand), Andy Sower, Albert Kraus (netherlands), Gago Drago (armenia), Kyshenko (ukraine). These are all very fast, fit and exciting fighters who don't get there because of their names, rather their accomplishments ON THE CURRENT YEAR, not some 10 years ago.
Also check some of the K1 max fights, these guys have decent boxing skills, triple uppercuts, faints, body hooks and well, they are really the best of the best RIGHT NOW. They don't get megafights in 08 for being the best in 95, they are sorted EVERY YEAR through elimination tournaments, so rest asured, injuries apart, (which didn't happen in k1 max as far as i can remember) the guys fighting in the finals are really the best in the world.
UFC has the best MMA fighters in the world IMO, I like K1 fights though.
