Two short fights ago

Paul doesnt get excuses for losing. At the same time, I think Quintana is a good boxer so him losing isnt such a bad thing. I'm still not sure what to think about Williams. Hard to judge his improvement since he's been knocking guys out so quickly. It's very possible Kolle was just a stiff.

and in the 12th round (championship rounds) pwill came on strong and gave margarito the business.. the reason marg wasnt opening up is because he couldnt find openings and he wasnt liking what was coming back (pwill's punches).. marg doesnt do well against fighter bigger than him.. in his fight against pwill he lost 9 rounds to 3 maybe 8 to 4.. he isnt too eager to fight pwill again because he knows more than likely pwill will beat him again and despite the 12th, it still doesn't negate the fact that Margarito made in fight adjustments. So, what really is your point in regards to my post?

The difference is, Cotto didn't do this or that because he couldn't. Margarito adjusted and put in serious work in the later rounds, enough to have Paul wobbly at one point. There is nothing in Cottos style to suggest that he will be able to do anything different in the future. He gave Tony the most damaging shots hes ever given to anyone, and nothing happened. Then you can say tyhe same about Cotto losing to Margarito. Cotto didn't do this he didn't do that. BOTTOM LINE Williams beat margarito and Margarito is listed as the #1 WW right now. That says alot for this guy Williams. I just want to add.. I am not trying to downplay what Willaims has done.. Only that he is not deserving of the Hype around him.. It's quite possible he is getting better.. but 2 quick KO's dont tell us anything.. except that maybe he has more power than I thought.. I still remember him struggling with Santos Pakau and can't help thinking that 2nd fight with Quintana was a total fluke..

Good against pressure fighters, but Quintana's movement puzzled the shit out of him. It's why I'd pick Mayweather to beat him easy. Shit even Collazo would give him problems.

Paul Williams got his ass handed to him for 12 rounds by a B rated fighter.. Since then he has fought 2 rounds.. Granted he KO'd the same guy who handed him his ass for 12 rounds..But since we saw nothing of the sort the 1st time.. We can safley assume the 2nd fight was a Fluke until we see a 3rd fight And then he KO'd a Nobody.. at 160.. and I mean a ****ING nobody..in 1 round.. Now suddenly Guys like Kelly Pavlik are ducking him??? I am sorry guys.. But Paul Williams is a very beatable fighter..Even the Margarito fight was more about what Margarito DIDN`T do as oppossed to what Williams did.. Paul Williams is nothing more than a Prospect with 1 good win and a humiliating loss on his resume.. Potential?? .. Yes... Already there?? If Quintana were 6'2 he wouldn't be the same kind of fighter, I see the point you're making but I think it's a little off base. I agree with Welter that Williams is beatable but I disagree with his assertion that Quintana is B-level. He is only a half step behind the Cottos and Margaritos of the world. Joel Julio was supposed to be hot shit and Quintana embarrassed him and also pulled off a 9-1 upset over Williams. quintana's win over Julio was a huge suprise and the fashion he did it in was very evident quintana is game. he losses to cotto and then beats a guys in which he outsized so much it's not even funny, then he losses the rematch and is a bum??? I think quintana can give margarito fits if he fought the way he did in the first pwill fight. Would you say Valuev is a gifted athlete/boxer or is where he is at because of his sheer size alone? Same with Williams.. Valuev benefits from a garbage division, like most of these heavyweight champs in this era.

Because he HASN't realized that potential but is already a world champ. As far as what Margarito DIDN'T do against him, ask yourself why. Why would a man who shows total disregard for the incoming be tentative? Maybe because of what Williams did? (ie. 1400+ punches thrown and exceptional boxing?). Just a though.

Its a double edged sword, I believe Pwill is a better fighter overall than quintana and would beat him in a rubbermatch.. the fact he had no southpaw sparring partners is what says it for me... thats a huge mistake to make while preparing for a fight... I thought it was a close fight, but clear and decisive for williams... I also think Williams is a different fighter now then he was the first time they fought, i think hes tuned in his power more... and I think its a stylistic nightmare for Margarito... someone who actually throws more punches than him, is taller, who moves a lot, and who can actually take a punch... i see a rematch with both quintana and margarito having the same conclusions if quintana was 6-2 he'd be a far better fighter.so in essence, his only advantage over quintana is size.he is not a better fighter.
