There is no way that a guy who comes into his fights fat and overweight, when he is getting around title shot range, is going to be the saviour of this division.
Every single undisputed heavyweight champ has trained hard and come into shape every fight coming all the way up. All we have here is another Hasim Rahman/James Toney level fighter on our hands.
The only undisputed heavyweight champ who at times had his conditioning questioned a bit was Lennox Lewis, and that was situations when he was thought to be 4-5 lbs heavier than he should be, not 20 lbs heavier. Oh, and Arreola ain't no Lennox.
I'm sorry if you think you see potential in Arreola, but if this is where the guy's head is it just isn't happening. I think he gets exposed the minute he ACTUALLY steps up.
the Euro's might not have an officially unified Champ yet, but all 4 Alphabet champs at the moment are of European decent
good point if Vitali goes after Valuev the Heavyweight division will be officially dead locked.
besides that above possibility I don't get why the Heavy division gets so much crap .. sure there's been some lousy champs and or boring bouts
(but most of those champs wind up losing there belts anyway)
with Haye coming up, plus the exciting contenders in Povetkin, Arreola and Walker
it's enough to maintain my interest level.
the American media just over blows the Heavyweight div. as crappy since outside of Holyfield there's no big names left.
Chris Arreola
My family has known Chris since 2004. I have seen many of his fights in person.( We have seen Walker fight several times too) I know how he trains and if he is down to 225-235 then, I doubt any heavyweight can beat him. Unfortunately he only trains as hard as he needs to depending on who is is fighting. Walker is very good so he will have to train hard and if he does Chris will win.

Only step up in the current Heavy Weight division would be Vitali.. the rest is a latterel step. Chris is a good fighter....Only time will tell..How many MEXICAN heavy weights are out there? Not many..he's built how he is built....
Arreola is the one
As long as Chris trains for this fight, Walker will not stand a chance nor will anyone else. It all lies in how hard he wants to train for each fight.
Chambers NEVER hurt Povetkin....Povetkin walked through those shots like they were nothing.
Best prospects:
Povetkin, Dimitrenko, Boytsov >>> Chambers, Arreola, Walker
Eastern European heavyweights >>>>>>>> American heavyweights
and some how, they can't manage to get one godam unified undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.what the **** is wlad and his team waiting for? is he hoping vitali gets two too?
Like I said before, Eddie has the skill, but he don't have the will.
That's the problems with your American heavyweights...your fighters have gone soft from living in an easy laid back country where you get spoon fed and can get anything you want....You American big men lack the hunger, will and determination needed to be successful.
Lamon Brewster is the only American heavyweight left that has a big heart, skill and true will to win....the rest of the american HW's will never amount to anything.
Our Eastern European heavyweights are stronger, hungrier, more determined and have the Will to win...We will be dominating the division for a very, very long time.
So poverty stricken neighborhoods produce the best heavyweights in the world?? If you wanna go with that lame duck argument dog look at where our champion heavyweights come from. Brownsville Brooklyn, Flint Michigan, Baltimore Maryland, Martinsville Virginia, West Philly, Louisville Kentucky, Easton Pennsylvania, Atlanta Georgia. These ain't places where anyone get's spoon fed anythin except for some crack rock aiight? No doubt righ now East Euro's are rulin the division but that's cuz American Heavies are in the NFL or tried to be never made it and haven't even thought about boxin. Marketing Wlad Blows that's what the American Heavies need, more boxin gyms and some good old PR!
I think areola couldnt have made a stupider move than coming in that heavy,he lost alot of fans w/ hope in him such as myself. If u come in looking like that you cannot be an elite fighter cuz u dont have the determination to train like you should everytime.Especially scince hes about to make some major money cust for the the fact that hes the only undefeated American heavyweight we all wanted to have hope in that=major$$$,instead of coming in in better shape to show why we should beleive in him he just stuffed his fat face.
he throws a few good combos but if i didnt know who he was and someone just randomly showed me one of his fights i would have thought it was prison boxing.

The Messiah is a teenager in some reform school, dreaming of becoming the next Ali and of having sex with white girls.
Why having sex with only white girls?
Ok I have been following Arreola for a lot longer then a lot of you guys(so cal kid). This kid has a lot of solid goods. His power is unreal. His work rate outstanding at heavy weight. Is footwork and defense are good enough(obviously). His boxing skills incredibly under rated due to his lack of need for them. He has come forward and said he likes to fight(get hit).
Ok it is hard to say how good Arreola is because he hasn't stepped up quite yet. His high work rate cripples most heavy weights because he doesn't give his opponent a chance to land a significant punch. You also have to keep in mind that he has been in a boxing gym the majority of his life and he knows boxing.
When they talk about Arreola sparring and working in the gym, he does not slug, he works on defense, footwork, and boxing. He outboxes his sparring partners(rather then punish them). When you ask him how his performances were he never rates them high(knows he can do better). If you watch him you see one dimensional, but everyone who has seen him in the gym know he is capable of a lot more. Has he ever needed to do more? No, so why do more. He has openly admitted that he performs at about 65% of his ability so that he can have tools left in the artillery for step up fights.
I think being deemed the messiah is a bit much, but I do think he has the makings of a champion. So I guess I agree he is over rated, though I think as the Transformers say "there's more then meets the eye".
Arreola is the Edison Miranda of HW, he is exciting and fun to watch. As soon as he steps in the ring with a proven/experienced fighter its game over for him.
There you go again, East Euro rules the world!!!! America is second to best European fighters. From Russian to Ukraine to Armenia to Kazakstahn (the best) and finally turkmenistan (assholes). Man Povetkin ain't shit, Wlad will show that. A rematch with Eddie Povetkin would be done! Eddie goes on about how he could have that fight back and so forth and oh man I wish there was a rematch! Eddie didn't get hurt at all in that fight. He was hittin Povetkin wit big shots in the early rounds and then sixth round came along and Eddie mentally broke down. Same with JT vs. Spinks or De La Hoya vs. Mayweather. Sometimes fighters play a mental war with themselves and don't throw punches when they want to, Chambers is physically sound but mentally he need work.
Like I said before, Eddie has the skill, but he don't have the will.

as i said.
arreola is overrated, he is yet to fight a top european boxer.
lmao, how times have changed
I hope Arreola is the first fighter of Mexican Heritage that wins a title, people laugh when they say a Mexican Heavyweight Champion but now, it can possably happen. Hell, in the 90's no one every thought there would be so many White Champions, much less one that is dominating the division.
If, Peters gets by Vitali, i think Arreola's best chance is to go after Peters.
Chambers NEVER hurt Povetkin....Povetkin walked through those shots like they were nothing.
