joe calzaghe vs jeff lacy

To keep it short... CALZAGHE IS A TOOL!!

If that's meant to legitimize Joe's win over Bernard, then it would also legitimize Taylor's as well. Which I know you wouldn't want to do, considering you call him overrated every chance you get. Well no because I dont feel Taylor has a win over Hopkins. But I would give him credit for pushing Hopkins harder than Tarver or Wright did and about as well as Joe did. Of course Taylor is 10-15 years younger than all these guys.

Lacy and Kessler were both impressive wins in the fashion he won them. Yes Kessler was a better opponent but he managed to tag Calzaghe with some serious upper cuts. The impressive thing with the Lacy fight is that Joe pretty much avoided everything Lacy threw. You'd think Jeff would manage to land a few but he hardly did at all. You'd also think Calzaghe would get complacent with the ease of winning post round 9 where he really had him, but he kept putting on an absolutely blinding performance avoiding everything Lacy threw. He danced round him all night. One of the best performances of hitting and not getting hit I've ever seen. So that was the impressive part of that win for me.

While this was a good win for Joe I think it is a little overstated given how poor Lacy has been found to be. I think the win over Kessler is more impressive and clearly Joe's marquee win. Few times have I been more impressed by a fighter than watching that one. You and me both.

In the two fights prior, Hopkins had just beaten Tarver and Winky Wright making them both look like utter horse shite in the process. Tarver was top 10 P4P material and Winky was 2 or 3. i lost ducats as well...i thought Lacy was gonna steamroll Joe and catch him...to hear Calzaghe utter 'he aint sh1t' in between the early rounds made it even worse...i was a huge Lacy fan, still root for him now And I can’t rag on the guy even though he got worked…he could have easily stayed in the US and kept his belt but he went to the UK looking to unify…something most champs wouldn’t really risk I still hope Lacy can pull his left hook back out and be looked at as the force he was pre-Calzaghe. Even if he did take over SMW and managed to revive his career no one can ever look at him the same after the Calzaghe fight. Hell I still pray that he can pull out one big left hook and KO Calzaghe now!

i give calzaghe credit for beating lacy, but he shouldn't rest his laurels on 3 wins over lacy, kessler and a 43 year old hopkins. I think he needs to do a little bit more. like fighting pavlik and then the winner of dawson/tarver. He can call it a day and I'd call him a great fighter if he could defeat those guys. I agree, both Lacy and Kessler are not great fighters, niether of them have good resumes that say they are good fighters. Hopkins has a great resume, gave Calzaghe hell..but he's 43..you don't want you're best win to be against someone that old. It was an ugly fight to, could have gone both ways..I actually thought Hopkins won.
