Did anyone hear when Lampley mentioned Floyd as being the top dog at WW, and Larry came back and said "only problem was he wasnt fighting any WW's" LOL. Lampley then came back to defend Floyd by saying "he fought other fighters regardless of thier weight-class"
the cut out the beginning with the fans booing and merchant asking about Lewis being behind on the scorecard.
lol
Yeh i know that interview well mate...
Classic stuff from Merchant though who no matter what remains cool
He did acknowledge the fact that Floyd was hurt, but at the same time, his question that ticked Floyd off had nothing to do with him being hurt. Floyd stated that he put on a good performance. From a technical standpoint, and given the fact that he won, the answer is yes. Larry even stated that Floyd shut him out and gave him credit for that. Asking Floyd if the crowd found his performance to be a good enteraining performance, had nothing to do with im being hurt. Floyd could've answered back with something like "well since i hurt my hand, i couldnt give the fans the performance/show that i would've liked to" I think a response like that would've been a bit more classy. I think Floyd would've fought the same exact fight even if he wasnt hurt.
I think the bold is the answer PBF would have gave if Merchant would asked well since you hurt your hand did that affect the type of fight and performance you wanted go out and give?
I don't think he would have fought the same fight he was a little more aggressive and offensive IMO before he hurt his hand. I still think in the later rounds PBF would have made it look like the Gatti fight.
In the end both could have handled it differently.
The bold is absoulutely true. But at the sametime if the commentator knows PBF was hurt why even ask some sh!t like that. Basically Merchant could have phrased that question differently and probably got a totally different answer. The booing probably did bother PBF most people would be bothered by getting booed. B-HOP is one of the most mentally strong and calculating people I ever seen in boxing so his reaction being different from PBF is not surprising.

Part of being a commentator is asking contraversial questions. Larry has taken this route with MANY boxers. Not just Floyd. There has been several times where i noticed that Larry got on Bhops nerves, but Bhop countered with quick witty remarks and just kind've shrugged Larry's comments off. I think being booed for that performance, along with Larry's questioning really messed Floyd up mentally. His ego was hurt, and he felt really unappreciated. That is the reason why he cried his eyes out at the press conference and talked about retiring. If you're going to be a star who is in the spotlight, then u have to learn to adjust and take criticism in addition to praise.

I think they sidelined Merchant because of his tendency to speak his mind, which is a no-no when you're in business. He's the only journalist on the crew and is stuck in his truth-telling ways.
He was on vacation LOL...
Commentators can always speak their mind. For that we can have robots commentate
I think Larry handled himself quite well actually. Even when Floyd was getting all riled up in his face, Larry just stood there with a smirk and even said "thank you" LOL.
Where was this mate? lol
I need to see that shit
You're right about commentators. But they should also be able to handle it if an athlete blows up at them. It goes both ways and frankly these kinds of things are entertaining to most sports fans.

I didn't see it, well. I didn't see HBO Broadcast. I don't think Merchant likes Mayweather much, he prefers the guys who come to fight. Mayweather is a pure boxer, and Larry likes action :lol1:
I wouldn't necessarrily say Merchant was out of line. But even Merchant mentioned that he heard PBF say he hurt himself. So that was kind of a ****ed up question. I mean really what more do you want a person to do if they hurt? Now if PBF didn't hurt himself and fought all 12 rounds like that then I feel that question would have been justified. We all know Merchant doesn't really perfer boxers he likes brawlers and there is nothing wrong with that. But in Merchant's line of work he does some real out of line shit.

He CLEARLY is to act the way he does. You can see it in his eyes. He wants to be liked and respected regardless of what he says. So he talks himself up, hires a bunch of yes men to hang around him, and throws money at people. Its all an act. Not trying to trash Floyd, cause he's retired and one of the best fighters I will ever get to watch, but Im just telling it like I see it.
Absolutely agree! He wants attention any attention and this is the attention he has to settle for because he constantly makes asinine remarks. You could tell he would be a much calmer better person when you meet him, but not in front of cameras.
Floyd owned Merchant's drunk unprofessional ass. He put him in his place like no other could. That's why he's the creme de la cream.
LOL Beating the best of the best! Baldomir, jeez wasn't he the best ever at welter weight? Wow PBF needs to hook me up with his dealer. PBF just looks like an arrogant spoiled a$$ hole.
That is not to say I don't respect PBF because he is an incredible technician, the best since "Sweat Pea". My issue with PBF is that he deflects honest questions just like that. He didn't put on an entertaining fight. Throwing 258 punches ain't shit over 12 rounds. Not even willing to throw 30 punches around when you get payed millions.
PBF never got an amazing amount of credit because he never fought in a fight. He would always box which is an incredible feat, but fight fans don't fall in love with boxers, they fall for fighters. Especially arrogant ones like PBF that aren't willing to live up to their word. Fight the best the creme de la cream, if you want to be considered the greatest get your ass out there and prove it. Talking about it only pisses the majority of us off.
Could he have been considered an arguable GOAT? Yes and that is what pisses everyone off, he is unwilling to prove is bullshit allegations.
You have two choices if you want to be considered a great, fight the best, or slug it out like Gatti, MAB, EM, Corrales(he even got more love), Tito, DLH, etc. He did neither.
The love PBF is lacking is purely his fault with shitty marketing, he made himself out to be an a$$hole and everyone wants an a$$hole to lose.
I think that Mayweather is an insecure person. Maybe I'm biased because I dislike him, but that's genuinely how it seems to me.

It was an article that i read a few weeks after his fight with Hatton. U dont have to believe me, but im positive i read it. Trust me, i was surprised myself to hear him say something like that.
I'm not saying you're lying. I'm just trying to figure out what promted him to say that. Floyd seems too arrogant to say something like that.
Honestly, that doesnt sound like something Mayweather would say. I sure would like to know where you read that.
