I can't think of another guy that will attract mainstream joe blow fans to boxing. Tyson is gone, Oscar will retire, Who will carry on?
Before u say who gives a fuck, understand that mainstream appeal is necesary for the growth of the sport. The more appeal , the more boxing regains its position in American sports.
I don't really see any of the active professional fighters right now being able to fill DLH shoes as far as a huge draw and money maker. The key factor to making a fighter popular to the mainstream public is to market that fighter early on. Therefore in America we really need a better amature program, and Olympic program. Many of the big household names, began to receive attention through the olympics. Ex.Dlh, Leonard, Holyfield, Whitaker, RJJ, Ali and many others. Until our amature/olympic program is improved i don't see any american that can fill the void left by DLH.
correct. The olympics is usually the jump off when trying to build up a star. 2008 Olympic class was a dud in terms of a break out star.

If Hatton wins against Paulie (easy) and then clears up the jnr welts then he will be the biggest star (if he isnt already)
but he will more than likely retire after a couple more fights.
If Haye Ko's Klit then he will be the biggest star.
both brits.
whats with the yanks?? Pavlik has no personality.
Hatton, Haye is if he takes over HW, Pavlik, Berto all possible contenders
Agree with all your choices. I think Pavlik would definately be the front runner if it wasn't for the fact that his only PPV so far (Taylor 2) ended up being a pretty boring fight.
Haye and Berto also have a chance if they keep on winning impressively on HBO and Hatton if he gets some form back and maybe gets some sun while he's in LA.
It will be interesting in this day and age to see how far his publicity can go.
he has all the tools.. but needs to talk more .. in order to reach that level.
if he did than that comes to show july 26th brought in some fans :) and if started watching boxing july 26 how does he know who vasquez and marquez are
Im pretty sure the july 26 show brought in lots of fans... :boxing: thats 4 sure!!
but if he thinks that any guy of those guys will become the next SUPERSTAR.. draw Machine in boxing ...
then I must think that he doesnt know how other boxers are doing in that matter or that he just didnt understood well the question..
relax bro I aint saying nothing that u already dont know...
im sticking to the thread question... nothing more nothing less :boxing:
seen Wladimir a couple of times on the Conan O'brien show. If he would only bash heads instead of going rds with guys who should be bombed out quicker, then he might get more attention.
Conan is good but wlad needs to get on the Leno and Letterman show. Alot more ppl watch them than Conan.
Wlad is pretty funny and could bring alot of casual fans into the sport with more frequent appearances on some major tv shows.

David Haye
if wladimir klitschko had exposed himself more to the american public and to people outside of europe, he would be making some BIG FUCKIN BUCKS right now... especially with his charisma, education, intelligence, sense of humour etc.

The only fighters on the scene with real top-dollar potential are Pacquiao, Haye, and Gamboa imo. Pacquiao only if he wins the DLH fight to establish himself as a real marquee name to the casual fan.

there's really no one out there with the kind of charisma that dlh has (charm) and tyson had (intimidation).
but if I had to guess I'd say its Pavlik cause HBO is promoting him pretty hard.
I think..
If Kirkand is the REAL deal, he could become one with his exciting style and stay undefeated and rule 154, possibly 160, or even 147 if he can come down ?
Cotto if he bounces back and builds a bigger fanbase and becomes another Tito-type fan favorite.
Katsidis had a chance, but I think that's gone..
Theres really no sure-fire choice YET, we'll see.
