naaa styles make fights and these guys have perfect styles for each other. RJJ win or lose this will be a great fight. Or atelast better than both guys last fight.
huh??? tito was a walking target for rjj and rjj couldn't KO him.
Hopkins makes fights ugly, but the fact that that was Calzaghe's toughest fight still puts some doubt in my mind about Calzaghe.
RJJ is a pot-shotter. Calzaghe is a swarmer. Glen Johnson was a swarmer. If Glen Johnson destroyed RJJ so can Calzaghe if his mitts don't snap in half. This is not a good style fight.
rjj has the ring smarts but his body is shot all to hell. he knows his body is shot and is fight more scared than smart.
rjj/calzaghe is not a good fight. but i hope rjj wins because unlike calzaghe he's willing to fight pavlik.

So if Joe struggles or looks bad you won't have your usual ton of excuses? Nor will you try to pump up Jones current skills since you have repeatedly said he is done, shot, over with, washed up and this is an easy fight for Joe? Right?
What is 'my usual ton of excuses'? Thus far Calzaghe has never lost so I haven't been required to make any. What excuses do I make for Calzaghe's relative poor showing against Hopkins other than that he was fighting Bernard Hopkins, who is undeniably both a spoiler and a very good fighter?

No, I'd agree. Jone's chin has been more vulnerable after the 2nd Tarver fight. But Glen caught him with a shot ON THE TEMPLE! Your chin doesn't rebuild itself. A lay-off might rejuvanete your body but not your chin.
And in the Tito Trinidad fight, Roy wasn't exactly trading punches with a natural welter/junior middle either! He was walking the smaller man down just like Winky did. Something he is not going to be able to do with Joe Calzaghe.
If Roy obviously respected the smaller Trinidad's power, he's going to respect Calzaghe's as well. He wasn't even winning rounds against Tito trying to box. He won them with the high guard. And Tito's a straight forward fighter who has problems with movement.
I'd love to see Roy win this. But he won't.
I didn't see that you responded. My bad....
I agree but I also think tarver landed the "perfect" ("lucky" as Roy explains) shot to KO him. Glen got Roy too soon, Roy should have taken time off to mentally and physically prepare himself. Glen's not known for a one punch KO but I'm pretty sure he hits harder than Joe Calzaghe now a days. Which also brings me to Tito.
I think today's blown up, washed up what ever you call it hits harder than Joe. I think Jones was just feeling himself out and testing the waters with Tito (wasn't that point of the fight?) Roy did what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted to him. I mean why wouldn't he have. Tito is done. He was simply a name and a tune up for a bigger fight.
But like I have said before; Tarver, Glen, Hanshaw and Tito IMO all hit harder than Joe. Besides lacy whos face was bashed back how many years ago, Kessler is the only one that said he was "hurt". Which is the reason I think Kessler would be "DESTROYED" sadly by Pavlik's punching power. Hopkins laughed at Joe and his power and even "the Contender" and as Joe explained "a great American fighter" Manfredo laughed at the so called beating ("pitty pat punches") he took. How can anyone complain about what the judging will be in New York after watching that fight?
Fact is, Jones knows what hes getting into. He's said it over and over. He's fighting a guy that will start punching Friday night and wont stop punching until Sunday evening. Meaning he knows its a lot of punches but nothing to worry him of a KO and you need him scared of the KO punch to have him running and punch shy.
Remember he's only lost once on points and that was to the guy that had him scared from a round 2 KO. I think people are underestimating Roy's ring smarts. I mean when Hop fought Joe people were basing there entire theory on HOP winning because of his smarts. He almost did. I think where a 43 year old Hop failed, Jones will succeed. But hey that's just me. Either way it will be a great fight with "ZERO EXCUSES". Especially if its a close fight and Roy takes it by a SPLIT or what ever. because "Joe is supposed to beat him EASY". So zero excuses. the judges will have nothing to do with it.
But I see your points and I agree to a certain degree. I just disagree on the overall outcome.
"Joe will get robbed."
"In New York they hate Brits."
"The judges love Roy."
The excuses have already started and the bell for the first round hasn't even rang.
Well Joe is supposed to win and win easy right? There will be zero excuses.
Even though I have Roy handily for this fight, there's no way anyone can say the safe money bet is Jones. That's bad gambling.
And I'll honestly be shocked if Bhop can pull off any more wins. He looked better than Cal in their fight imo, but he still gassed like I've never seen. I don't think a man can roll back the clock twice, because that's the only way he beats Pavlik.
Yeah gamblers advisory seems like a biased nutt-hugger, he didn't even explain how and an old 43 year old hopkins is suppose to get passed pavlik. All he said was that Hopkins beat antonio tarver so Hopkins can beat pavlik? :?!:
The fuck does beating tarver have anything to do with fighting pavlik?
I'm sorry,but here I can't put money-real money-on Jones Jnr.
What made Jones great was his incredible footwork and powerful and accurate counterpunches ,thrown with blinding handspeed. In addition,he hardly got tagged by his opponents .Also he had a decent chin and rarely got hurt when hit cleanly. If this fight was made seven years ago, I can see Jones winning by stoppage in the middle rounds.
However, boiling down back to light-heavy after the Ruiz fight,Roy really lost the athletic attributes to execute his usual game.He never had the pure boxing ability to stand dead in front of a fighter ,blocking and parrying punches, while firing punches back. With his weakened chin, he proved himself unable to defend the sustained and determined attacks of Tarver and Johnson.
I go back to the Glen Johnson fight.Johnson,at least in the his fight with Jones, and Calzaghe are similar, to the extent that they throw lots of leather.Calzaghe is 36,but a well preserved 36;he has never been out of condition.Roy is nearing 40 and is not getting any better.Calzaghe also has superior boxing skill. He will manage to find the openings to land his punches. He will be throwing a lot of leather, with sufficient power that cumulatively they will hurt and wear down Jones.
I see this as being either a decision or a late stoppage for Calzaghe. The New York judges might come into play, but I believe they reward aggression and Joe will be the aggressor.
gamblers advisory picked katsidiz and the under on that fight
they suck dont listen to them
plus hes biased cuz of the color of his skin
no he didn't pick anyone in that fight, he specifically says "the fight is too close to call" and that the safe bet is the under.
"Joe will get robbed."
"In New York they hate Brits."
"The judges love Roy."
The excuses have already started and the bell for the first round hasn't even rang.
Theres only two fighters in the ring, its not hard to be right in this sport. gamblers advisory brags about there picks when there right, but are they stupid? It's like anyone can choose a fighter to win, the odds are good that your fighter will win when theres only two fighters in the fucking ring.
I know it's a fucking joke, that's like 50% chance of winning which in gambling...is fucking high! :D
So fighting Glen right after being KO'ed by Tarver so soon had no effect? Like I have been saying Jones will NOT (not) be punch shy by Joe Calzaghe's power (or lack of) beleieve it. Jones was scared of Tarver and just punch shy in the fight with Glen because he was fighting too soon. FACT.
Like I said Joe Calzaghe will present no such power to have Jones scared like he was with Tarver and Glen. Truth.....
Can glass hands break a glass jaw??????????
Go ahead, I'll wait.......

That was in Las Vagas. Only one of the three judges was biased against Joe.
This will be in the New York area, where a higher percentage of the boxing judges are jingoistic - they LOVE Roy Jones and dislike Brits.
If Julie Lederman works the fight, she will not score a round for Joe, unless there's a knockdown. I'm willing to bet 50 K to anyone's 1 K on that. Care to bet?
Please explain why Adalaide Byrd was "bias". I got to hear this. Also, why your at it why don't your try and explain what your suggesting about Lederman.
No, not all.
But Holyfield-Lewis I, Meehan-Brewster, Casamayor(fights for American promoter)-Santa Cruz, De La Hoya-Sturm, Golota-Ruiz and many others were.
It's at least as difficult for a foriegner to win a decision in the US, as it is for an American boxer to win a decision in Europe.
I see your points in a way. But this will be a style fight and Jones style will look better than Joe's. Like Joe's last fight he just "LOOKED" better by throwing more punches than Hop with a result, winning more rounds to win a very very ugly and sad SD. But who doesn't look ugly in there with Hop right?
Jones vs Calzaghe. This is the same in a sense. Jones style will look a hell of a lot better than Joe's and YES if the round is close. I would assume it will go to Jones just like they went to Joe in the Calzaghe Hopkins fight. Styles make fights and Roy's style is as EVERYONE knows better or appears to be. Which is the point.....
So over all if the round is close, yes it might go to Jones who will be flashy, quick and will dance around and clown Joe to sell the judges, JUST as Joe does with his little windmill super flurry work rate style to win rounds.
IMO That is not biased judging. Just my 2 cents.
