Edwin Valero ranked number 1 by WBC

I just want to see Valero in against a good opponent. I think he would get beat by any top notch fighter, but I wanna see if I am wrong or not.

It happens a lot, I don't like it that a fighter can move up in weight and get ranked as a mandatory, I would prefer them to work their way there.

Are you aware that Valero has previously been unable to get a license to fight in the US? Now that he does, you can expect him to cash in ASAP. You can count on him being in at least one big fight in 2009. Saying he should give up his career shows that you are uninformed of the facts in this situation.

Look, it's like if Roy Jones in his prime moved up from MW to SMW. He never had 1 FIGHT at SMW but you already know he was the best SMW in that division or thought so so you gave him the number 1 ranking. The WBC thinks he is the best fighter other than their champion so he is ranked as such.

you say that like its a bad thing The fight is definitely fan friendly and i wouldn't mind seeing it, I just agree with the thread starter that he shouldn't be ranked that high. Agreed...I can't wait to see him fight against the top dogs.Wether he's the truth or not Yep, this is the only way we find out the truth. Valero is the biggest X factor in the lightweight division.

I know i sound nit picky but this isnt fair for other fighters who have been working their way up and Valero comes in ranked 1 You do have a legitimate point. It is stupid it's Vitali coming back as the number 1 condender instead of the fighter working there way up to a title shot, Haye coming in at number 5 when he unified a division below theoretically he should be ranked number 1 because he unified the division below Valero picked up a piece of the title, Guzman as well etc. It's proberbly all about the money each fighter will rake in. The WBC will be able to charge more on commision fees on Valero because he will bea bigger draw than the other contenders because he's exciting etc.
