...would Pavlik have a better record (i.e. more KOs) than Calzaghe's 45-0-0 (32KOs), would Pavlik also be undefeated for 15 years... Vote and discuss.
i don't think pavlik can beat kessler, but that's no reason for calzaghe to duck pavlik.
Eubank, Kessler and possibly Hopkins would have beaten him so I voted worse. If Pavlik were to fight Kessler, Eubank at the stages Calzaghe fought them at (very early and very late) then I think Pavlik would fare much worse. Mitchell-Pavlik would have been great and Brewer-Pavlik.
Yes...that's why so many people thought Kessler would beat Calzaghe - he LOOKS so good in the ring with those "skills." Until he was matched against an elite opponent...then he looked like a fish out of water who had few answers.
And while it's true that sometimes a guy without a great win can beat one who has a few, that is the exception not the rule. In the case of Mikkel Kessler, I don't buy it. His best win is still...losing to Joe Calzaghe.
good post man.
What I'm saying is that the guy with a great win on his record doesn't always beat the guy without any great wins.
I look at Pavlik and I see certain strengths and certain weaknesses. I look at Kessler and see certain strengths, certain weaknesses.
My fight prediction is based upon how those things match up.

Unless your fight predictions are always based upon who has beaten the best opposition, I don't understand your objection.
My fight predictions are predicated on that - yes. I'll add other things such as age, weight, etc.
Those last two really don't apply here IMO as Pavlik is a young, huge middle who will be fighting at LHW in his next fight.
So unless you have an objection to MY objection, I don't understand your post.
I misunderstood the question and interpreted it as "if Pavlik fought guys in Calzaghes resume, would his resume be considered better or worse?"
Pavlik would KO Kessler and the old and past prime version of Eubank that Calzaghe fought.
Worse. Pavlik would have lost to Kessler at the very least. He may well have struggled with Eubank, Reid and Brewer also, though I'd make him the favourite. As much as I like him, I haven't seen anything from Pavlik yet which suggests he can adapt mid-fight.
