Forrest reminds me of the Williams situation. Williams was this guy coming up and dominating everyone and you think he looks great. Then he fights Quintana and loses a close fight which makes everyone think that he wasnt that good in the 1st place. Then he comes back in the rematch, bombs Quintana, and now everyone thinks that he's a beast and could beat Margarito again.
Forrest was seen as a top guy with mad skills and like Williams vs Quintana, he took on a fight against Mora in which everyone thought he would dominate if he wasnt washed up. Then the fight came and he looked old & washed up in losing to Mora. His name fell off the scene and everyone thought he was done. Then the rematch came and he rose to the top and showed that he was in a different class then Mora.
I still stand by what I said about Margarito-Williams. I dont know if Williams would beat Margarito in the rematch but I do know that Margarito & Arum are in no hurry to find out. Dont get me wrong, Margarito is a confident fighter who believes that he would win and Arum is confident enough in Margarito to think that he would win "but" both of them also think that it is possible that they could lose. I dont think they feel that way about anyone else. I think they both feel that Floyd is too small to beat Margarito but even if he did win then its not that bad because he's the best in the world and a huge pay day. They feel that everyone else around them are solid but are no real threat. Both Cotto & Clottey could do some things but have no real chance of winning. Thats what they think. However, they think it is possible that Williams could win. They also know that there on top right now but a loss would kill Margarito forever. If he were to lose to Williams right now then his legacy takes a huge hit and they know that. Thats why there not in a rush to take that fight until they build up that resume more and get alot more money. Then they can take that big risk.
Thats why I ask what do you think about Margarito-Forrest? I think its the perfect fight. Forrest looks good in this match because he's a tall skilled guy like Williams, he's been in a ton of big fights, he can match Margarito's size, and he would feel that Margarito is far too slow for him. Margarito would think that he did lose to a guy in Mora that I use to dominate in sparring and that Forrest did get overwhelmed by Myorga and Im even bigger & stronger then him. On top of that Forrest is a big name that could sell a fight. Everyone would want to see it. I dont think Margarito would want to go to 154 and I dont think Forrest would want to come to 147. Thats why I say they should fight at 150. If Margarito beat him then he could get away with not fighting Williams. I think alot of people would back off of the Williams fight if Margarito beat Forrest. Forrest is also a righty so Margarito wouldnt have to worry about the southpaw stuff. Forrest would feel that Margarito is just another overhyped cat that the media loves more then black guys but he cant beat a black guy. Make this happened. I still feel like Arum & Margarito want no part of Forrest & Williams because they know its a possibilty that they could lose and that they wont have that huge size advantage that they normaly do
I like Margarito and his style a lot, but its getting to the point where people is doing some overrating here. Margarito is better than Mayorga, however styles makes fights and Margarito was never a one punch banger like that. Mayorga was also able to scare Forrest and get into his head even in the press conferences. I like Forrest by decision. Margarito has not beaten an all around boxer like Forrest that will stick to his game, and his track record is not good against fighters that are as big or even bigger than he is.

Most people thought Forrest won the rematch with Mayorga fairly clearly. I had it 116-112.
I was at that fight live, and people weren't booing the decision.
Quickly checked my old score card (yes I keep my score cards, dont laugh) and it turns out I scored that fight 116-113 for Mayorga. A little closer than I remember the fight being.
Forrest has never been good against pressure fighters.
Mayorga fucked him up, twice. No need to explain here. The re-match was not even close. I FUCKING HATED the way that Forrest fought the re-match. Throwing himself to the ground and flailing around the ring from every little blow that landed on his gloves. I cannot beleive that a knock down was not called when Mayorga BLATANTLY knocked him down. Forrest fought a scared fight and looked like a little bitch in that fight. 117-111 Ricardo Mayorga.
Baldomir lost clearly and fairly, but gave Forrest a physical beating and had his eyes brutally swollen and hurt him once. Forrest looked good in that fight, but Baldomir gave him all sorts of trouble. "Look what that man did to my face!"- Vernon Forrest. No joke. He said that.
Quartey got to Forrest with some great stalking and won that fight.
Enough of this catch weight shit... fight at a legit weight class.
Seriously... I don't think there were this many catch weight bouts back in the days when there were half the weight classes.
Fucking ridiculous.
Why would Margarito fight Vernon. He knows he can have a bigger payday & easier fight against Cotto. I expect Margarito to camp out at 147 & hope Paul Williams moves up.

But really, most people didn't. I conducted a poll when I was a big Forrest fan, because I thought Mayorga won (back when i scored, but was still bad at it), and the vast majority said that Mayorga won it deservedly, because Forrest was too gun shy and gave away too many of the early rounds in addition to fading a bit at the end.
Prime Forrest wins by tko now, toss up
No way... when has Forrest looked good against a pressure fighter? He can't fight going backwards... at all.
Mayorga had him backing up, he got beat up.
Quartey had him backing up, and he got beat up.
Margarito is better than both. He really is the best pressure fighter in the sport today IMO.
Margarito by ko, Mayorga style
Margarito by KO, not Mayorga style.
Mayorga was a slugger who threw every punch with maximum power.
Margarito will maul the fuck out of Forrest and Forrest has not shown a good ability to find the right game plan against pressure fighters. The problem for Forrest is, this is the best pressure fighter in the game right now.
